This is pretty major. I know I was NOT selecting "from folders" when importing in the past, so that made a HUGE difference once I started doing that. And I didn't even know about the camera angle/name piece - thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more final cut pro tips and tutorials!
Bro, you saved me. My plural eyes just crashes now when I open, and I don't want to pay a monthly subscription to that company JUST to sync video. The camera angle things worked great for sync.
This video is so extremely helpful. I am just getting back into editing and own Final Cut but not PleuralEyes anymore. I was bummed for about a day and then youtube showed me this video after my failed searches yesterday. The keyword collection organization I do too, and I name cameras but never thought about the angle because there are so many other apparently useless fields in the metadata. I also didn't use multicam to sync, I usually tried to sync first. So naming angles and doing them in multicam worked perfectly for me in about 1 minute on the M1 with 3 video and 4 audio sources. This was a total mess in FCP with any other attempts and as you say, I only remember Pleuraleyes being able to handle anything you throw at it. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks!
Also, I just tried normal "synchronize clip" with named camera angles and it also doesn't work because it's not using camera angle as an absolute limit on where what happens. Really surprised the FCP team doesn't handle this differently in the UX, as the engineers have done all the hard work but no joy unless you figure this out.
This was a perfect video for my needs. I had trouble finding one exactly like this, where the audio was in a separate track. Lining this up was a nightmare. Thank you. You have a great way of presenting the material, and I will definitely subscribe to your channel. Thanks, Guy
But what do you do with this super long multicam sequence once it's synced? I work on shoots with 10+ interviews; it does not make sense for me to have them all in a super long single timeline. Is there a way to easily take sections from this into a new multicam so you can break them up once they're synced?
I'm able to grab the portions I want from the browser window and drag them into my projects timeline. This tutorial is wedding video focused. We are not only recording audio and video for speeches, but we're also recording video for many random clips throughout our shoot. This means we would have to curate the video and audio files first, then sync them together. For me, it's a little faster just making one big multicam clip and selecting the parts I want to use in my final edit. To answer your question, this is the same method I would use if I was filming interviews.
This is really massive if you think about it. Its crazy How FCP synchs all those clips. Have you ever encountered issued with this btw, and how did you solve it afterwards?
Personally this has always worked for me. With that said, I only needed to do this 4 or 5 times as I was able to use a working version of Pluraleyes again.
M1 MacBook Air 16 gb. Final cut support page says “Note: Some audio recordings are not suited for use with this feature. Selecting this option may result in long processing times during which Final Cut Pro is not available for editing.” about syncing based on audio. Final Cut Version: 10.5.3
Damn, I'm not sure what is going on. How many files are you trying to sync? If I were you, I would let FCP create proxy files and try it again. Feel free to shoot me a email and I'd be happy to try syncing the files for you.
I've been looking for this exact answer all over TH-cam and you sir have made my day!!! Thank you so much:)
Glad I could help!
Something about your videos compared to everyone else makes it so much easier to understand. I'm so grateful that I found your videos thank you

Glad to hear this helped you! Anytime I’m trying to sync in FCP, I only use multicam sync and never the synchronize clip function.
really great! I was struggling with this, exactly this. Thanks!
Great Job on the video, I'm avid PE user as well but aware they not updating moving forward
buddy you dropped a gem here , thank you 🤞🏽
You changed my life. Thank you.
Very helpful. Thanks. Had a 3 camera performance video with 8 clips. Aligned them perfectly.
Glad it helped!
My videos and channel are going to greatly benefit from this tutorial. I cannot thank you enough!!! Happy New Year!!!

Have you considered using time code like Tentacle sync E and track E?
I've considered them but it's a big investment tbh lol
@@RaphealPersaud I actually have a way to get timecode to my Tascam. Interested?
For sure. Email me or dm on IG
FCPX is terrible for multicam synchronize
Agreed 🥲
why can't i open xml file from pluraleyes 4 on fcp x 10.6.4 ??
I'm not sure, I'm still running 10.6.3 but I'll look into it. Thanks for letting us know.
i love u brooo
love you too bro
Is it normal that it takes long, or final cut freezes?
No that’s not normal. What mac are you using?

@@RaphealPersaud thank you very much. I’ll send a link to your email; so we can figure it out if it has something to do with my mac or the files. 🙏🏻
