I feel like they'd probably "know" who their dad is given enough time. No, even toddlers have difficulty. My dad and my uncle look strikingly similar, and almost every child in the family has spent the first few years of their being confused between them. The only giveaway is my dad is reserved and quiet, and uncle is fun and cuddly. Even my nieces have been confused several times.

So my dad's an identical twin and I remember when I was younger I had a really hard time telling him and my uncle apart, which of course they would use to tease me in a similar way to this vid, except once. I think I was like 6 or something, so I don't remember all the details, but I know that I was crying. No idea why I was upset, but I was and I just wanted my dad but I couldn't find him. Eventually, I ran into my uncle and mistook him for my dad. Instead of playing their normal game he just comforted me, didn't correct me and tell me he was my uncle, he was just there for me because he knew I needed my dad, or rather someone who looked exactly like him. It wasn't until I was older and got better at differentiating them that I realized I made a mistake all those years ago

I've also had several dreams where there are suddenly two of my cat. In one dream there eventually were four cats that looked exactly like my cat wandering around my house.
