Autism is Autism... there is no more or less, just unique individuals with unique traits, symptoms and needs... kind of like typical people, but since we are such a misunderstood minority, we have to keep sticking up for ourselves and correcting all the misinformation out there...

I was so in awe of this family until the mom said she associates with Autism Speaks... Absolute garbage! They are wonderful parents but need to stay away from that organization.

Yeah autism speaks is terrible! Pro ABA and puzzle piece logos.

Autism Speaks *and* ABA. ABA can be abusive as hell. 😔

I couldn't watch any longer after they kept using terms like ABA, Asperger's, high functioning/low functioning. And how the mother treats it like a negative thing. "Oh I had a lot of tragedy in my life growing up so I'm accustomed to tragedy"

@misspinkpunkykat same as an autistic adhder i have cptsd but we cant judge parents from our trumas unless there children are showing actual desress parents have kids like us on a what spectrum no 2 of us are the same they are learning as they are raiseing as u do with any child of any nurotype aba has acc been shown to not cause truma to those on the spectruma with an intel3ctual delay with there asd it acc helps them retain daily living skills when a parent works with the therepist and dosent depend on the theripist to fix there child also these kids may see your judgement of there family wich could hurt mor3 to them

Where is this "spectrum" this family is "living on"??? Please stop using this term as we are not living with our Autism, like it can leave or be cured somehow- we are born Autistic and it involves our whole brain and nervous system and can't be moved off "the spectrum". I'm Autistic, and there is not a spectrum in the way most people think- it's not a higher or lower, severe or mild type of scale... the spectrum is each Autistic individual's unique needs, traits, symptoms, and each alllistic, typical person could technically also have a spectrum of needs, traits and things they may deal with, like food sensitivities or concurrent mental illness.
The Dad here said he thinks he may "have a bit" of Autism... uhhh, do some research buddy because you can't be a little Autistic... you are or not. The severity of symptoms and traits can change depending on circumstances, concurrent illness or aging. Some of us find out we are Autistic because we see it in our kids- I researched the heck out of it (an Autistic trait) and I got diagnosed as both Autistic with ADHD at 50, same as my lovely daughter.
I needed to know my entire life- it made all the hardship and all my uniqueness make sense- but I had gone unnoticed because of no understanding of what Autism really is. Being AWARE of what Autism is can save lives... I almost died not understanding why I struggled. My brother did not survive.

Wow, I don’t know. Why do I have to pay rent? Well, in my case, it’s a mortgage. Being self-sufficient is a good thing. lol.

Well, like they said, they now have six kids in six different schools so they needed to relocate. They’re In the San Fernando valley so it’s very expensive there and they most likely would have to sell the home they own to buy another and that doesn’t happen over night. Also, they need a very large home, and in California, there aren’t many homes of that size. The ones that are that big cost several million dollars.

So many kids are being diagnosed as being on the spectrum. It seems like it is the new ADHD like in the 80s and 90s when practically every kid who misbehaved was diagnosed with ADHD. Now all of these kids are being said to be on the autism spectrum. I recognize many kids might be on the spectrum but I also think this is being overdiagnosed.

Have you ever thought dignostic tools caught up to date i can explain why i was dignosed adhd in the 90s and it was seen as a boys disorder not females same with autisum wich ive recently been dignosed with as an adult because they have both been dignosed predominantly in little boys there now catching up with the dignostics of adult females teen fmales while still dignoseing the boys so it seams like theres an overdignoses because many of us were ignored because no 2 of us have the same traits as autistic humans its why its a spectrum thats why they didnt see it in females it presents difrently my adhd presents male traits not female its why it got dignosed as a kid my older sister is only being dignosed now because she can no longer function as an adult to full capasity and her child is like me and they relise she was masking wich we also do we act and imitate nurotypical behaviour thus mask8ng meaning we dont get dignosed for a long time or as kids for a while cuz we act out typical behaviour so were not judged like you are all doing now do better please cuz im 34 autistic adhd scientist and think your ridged and narrow minded who couldnt reserch before you made the abilist coment you made and ofended 2 whole comunitys of people
