    A zip tie the lenght of the hinge works the same.

      I could see that working if that's the exact amount of gap you need to close but what if the gap is a little less or a little more? That's when the screw technique works great since you can then adjust the gap by screwing in or unscrewing the screws a pinch more....see? Thanks for stopping by!

    Those screws that won't tighten can easily be fixed! Let me give you an easy quick fix!
    Take you some wood tooth picks and put them in screw hole of screw that won't tighten up! Gently tap them in with hammer. Break off ends that stick out. Now run your screws in.
    They tighten up just fine! This is a quick easy fix!

    Did you mention the purpose of what you want to accomplish? What you did was to drive the jamb closer to the stud/right?

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes in deed. It usually works providing you don't run across some shims that are tight up against the back side of a door hinge let's say. Sometimes even if some shims just happen to be right there, there usually is just a bit of compression you can get once you put the screws in like I show, to push the door jamb over just enough to create the amount of gap you want. In my case I think I ended up having to do all the hinges since the gap for closing was almost tight with no gap. You want that gap of course. Thanks for watching! I have lots of other sagging door videos on my channel that show you different ways to fix sagging doors too. In this case the door really wasn't sagging but still in need of repairs to get the right gap. If you want to see more videos then go to my main TH-cam channel page then click on playlists & scroll down to doors. Thanks!

    So by putting the two extra screws in at each hinge that pushed the hinges outward a little bit?

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes...this is just one way to fix a sagging door or not a sagging door since the door needs to come out a little closer to the bottom edge of the door jamb. I've found that this is an easy way to do it. I have lots of ways to fix sagging doors & more. Just go to my main TH-cam channel page then click on playlists then scroll down to "doors" & you will find all of those videos there. In fact you will notice in the playlist area that I have over 50 DIY howto topics that will save you more money around the house. Yes I have heard about that but have never done it. I also just saw a video where a guy put a golf tee in there & snapped it off. Seemed to work pretty good. However I was trying to fix a sagging door by doing some adjustments to the existing door hinges so that's another reason why I wanted to use longer screws. Thanks for taking the time to leave your message. Much appreciated!

    A load of crap. To move a door just bend the pin barrel on the door plate by a millimetre. If the hinge screws start to spin the wood has stripped. Put a match in the hole and snap it off flush and then put the screw back in by hand, not a screw gun. This video is so complicated. 😮

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha a load of crap would be not to do anything at all to this door & let it continue to be too close to the door jamb when closing since the doors are getting to be ready for new paint for door jambs as well as the doors so I wanted to make sure the doors were adjusted as good as they could be. Yes the door could be fixed the way you have suggested as well as there is always 2 or 3 ways to fix doors.....I am just showing you one way for sure....thanks for stopping by!
