I love this game. Before its worldwide release (which I was really excited for once it was announced), my only experience with it was an old Let's Play on the lp archive (so old it hosted its videos on Google Video). It's not nearly as in depth as Armored Core or other mech games, but I don't really think it should be. It's a game meant to be just dumb, simple fun, and that's what I find it's good at. The weapons do start out pretty plain, but they get more wild later on. The unlockable guns are especially silly. One silly piece of trivia about this game: a later FromSoft game is set in the same universe. Ninja Blade, an action game in the style of games like Ninja Gaiden and DMC (but honestly not very good), features the father of president Michael Wilson, Michael Wilson Sr. That's as far as the connection goes, though. I honestly would not recommend playing Ninja Blade, as its just kinda a generic, shallow action game that was basically just trying to chase several popular trends at the time without having any real substance.
Oh yeah, and I really want to applaud the DNN host's voice actor for that dramatically sad performance when first talking about the horrible terrorist Metal Wolf and the atrocities he committed. It is so played up and melodramatic that I always laugh.
I love how unapologetically early 2000s Japanese game it is. Yes, it's far from being good. And I admit it's kinda jank. But I can't not love it for what it is - product of insane creativity and just devs going full on with it. Objectively bad game, subjectively - a little rough gem!
I really, really wanted to like this game, been waiting so long for it to even get out of the japanese Xbox 1 exclusivity hell in the first place. But it's just not good. Poor gameplay with much worse controls than AC imho, there isn't any depth to it and no customization and the wep balance is weird. The remaster still being locked to 30fps is really a problem for me, just that alone makes it hard to see.
They're very conscious of how little attention for their genre they have oversees. I respect the effort.
Idk man they really need to revive this franchise for a second game.
MICHAEL.... MWAHAHAHAHAHA....
RICHAAAARD!
Also Jody Crawford is Serene Haze/Kasumi Sumika 2 from For Answer hehe.
It's a janky game but it's the _best_ kind of janky game. I can only see myself playing it once but it's an experience you don't forget.
I would absolutely love to see you play more of this game!

The voiceacting in this game makes it infinitely more entertaining, it's so hillariously bad.
