I use 5 gal. buckets with nipple waterers. No leaks and works great. And when it gets hot out I put a 2 litre bottle of frozen water in each bucket.

I've never used waterers like you're using, but they are popular. The frozen water bottles are something new, and it sounds like good advice. Thanks for sharing this. Especially with the July/August heat coming.

This type of waterer is a pain. I agree. Thanks for the information 😊

If you're on level concrete, it might be OK, but otherwise, it's terrible. Thanks for sharing.

I agree. The smaller ones are not great. We preferred the larger one for this reason and of course they last longer without a refilling.

The only thing I like the smaller ones for is when you have small chicks that haven't gone outside yet. For everything else, I agree with you. The bigger ones are better. Thanks for watching.

I've found that hanging the waterer from the wire handle on top, instead of placing it on the wire or ground, keeps it level since it automatically finds "level". Just run a stick across the top and attach it to the stick with some cord with a hook. Also the water stays cleaner if it is elevated.

The way you describe would work. But that's the problem with this waterer, it has to be level. A waterer with 1 opening can work the way you talked about or on the ground. I do appreciate you sharing how someone can use the 4 opening kind. It will allow people to use under the right conditions. Thank you very much for the comment and watching.

I've used water bottles that are made for rabbits. Used them for 30 years and have no problem with them. Even baby chicks two or three days old can figure out how to get the water out and have no problem keeping water for them.

Danny, thanks for sharing another way to water chickens. This could be a way that some people haven't tried, so it's always good to hear a new idea. Thanks for watching.

I worry about this all the time. I literally put extra plastic tubs of water in the run. We literally leveled blocks out to put the waterer on. Still worry’s me
