    I went to eat Korean bbq and this side dish was SO delicious, I couldn't get enough of it 😂 my friends even laughed at me because I kept eating it. When I find those small anchovies I will surely make this! Thanks for the recipe!
    (If I remember correctly they didn't add nuts in the restaurant)

    we , Indonesian called the tiny anchovies is 'Teri medan', sometimes it's cooked and mixed with 'tempe' , nuts, and chili. you can try indonesian version and you won't be dissapointed with the taste.. yummy!!. for the recipe, you could search 'how to make sambel teri medan' 👍. It's really delicious! btw I'm your fan @maangchi.. 😍😍😍

      Yes, this is what I thought too! Also kering tempe (dry tempeh); in my house, we usually put anchovies and peanuts into it so this strongly reminds me of that. Have to try making this one though to compare the taste between my home recipe and maangchi's :D

    In Indonesia, especially at my home, it called "Teri Balado". We did used anchovies called 'teri nasi/teri medan' and peanuts as well. But the taste is a bit different. Not only sweet-tasted, my mom's recipe have spicy-sweety-salty taste. It's sooooo delicious! You must taste it! And now I miss my Mom in heaven :)

I already had eaten this sweet crunchy anchovies through a Korean friend's cooking and its a perfect partner for rice as well

    Oh Maangchi I have to tell you a story. I recently found your show when searching how to make kimchi. I recently tried it from a jar, the jar said spicy. It wasn't. So I found your show when searching how to make it at home. So I got the list of stuff you said you used and went to the Asian store and got it. I only made 1/2 a batch just in case I didn't like it. I accidently did not convert the red pepper flakes to the 1/2 batch. so needless to say it was like eating fire LOL. But it only lasted 3 days after fermenting 36 hours. I was craving the flavor. So I made another batch. and finished off 1/2 of it before it was done fermenting. LOL you have created a monster LOL Next will be the spicy squid

    • @Maangchi
      @Maangchi  5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      haha, now you will understand why Koreans make a big batch of kimchi! When kimchi ferments, we can make all kinds of delicious dishes such as kimchi jjigae (stew), kimchi stir-fried rice, steamed kimchi, kimchi pancake.... so many! Congratulations!

    At first look, I instantly think that it's the same thing with minang's dish (Indonesia tribe) called tribol (teri bola : anchovy balls). Tribol is an anchovies, peanut and chili that fried and mixed together. Sometimes we add some fried tempe cut with in match stick size. Alot nutritions for a single salty, spices, and delicious meal! Its popular among student college meal cause their mom made it from home for a long last meal and efficient side dish ❤
    Whose ever tried tribol? 💞

    Hello💕 Watching from Indonesia. We have similar dish like this called 'Teri Kacang' (teri: anchovies, kacang: nut). The ingredients are also similar but we add some chilli, don't use sesame oil and sesame seed. OMO! I can imagine sweet savoury crunchy. Nice recipe 💕

    The kind of banchan that I love the most. Everytime I go to korean restaurants, this is the bachan that gets refill for couple of times haha

    We have this kind of recipe too in Indonesia 😆 the difference is we use sweet soy sauce and little bit spices. So it tastes sweet and spicy.
