"You can live in the 80s as much as you want to" 😆 Whole overview has the best humor so far! Great job Mr. Ricks. Very cool, very on point, informativ and entertaining.
I’m a bassist. But know guys with the Roland sets. I have to admit; Alesis has been knocking the ball out the park for some time now. When I find space for my home studio I might get this set to add to it. It has all the sounds I need to make nice demo recordings. I could use a drum machine but I want the “human” feel to my recordings and this would get the job done. And too me, the price is right compared to the TOTL Roland. Nice job Alesis.😕🥁🎶👍🏾
Well….this Set for sure is targeted at professional drummers who also already play acoustic drums, because i wouldn‘t mind because i already have like 3 to 4 hi-hat stands and 3 different kickpedals to choose from and every Drumset i would buy new, i would not buy any hardware because i have so much stuff already
Sounds amazing. Looks nice. Would’ve been fantastic if we could have specked a smaller kit though? I’d rather a kick, rack and floor tom personally as I’d never use the 8 and 10 toms
I'm considering buying this kit and selling the 14" tom to recoup some of the cost (and shrink the overall footprint of the kit). I see them for sale on eBay for $650.. if I could even get 450 or 500 for it, I'd be thrilled
Alesis will give you nicer sounds right out of the box but Roland will give you superior low latency and durability. Roland works flawlessly with VST software. But it's really a trade off. I would love this kit at $2k price point but for the cost, I would go with TD-27, I need durability.
@@kodyrattler I can’t describe how great they feel, it’s a game changer. The only trade off are the sounds which are the weakest link for sure. But there are ways around that.
@@okjames2954 how far off do you think the snare and hi hat for this is comparatively? Like night and day difference or like this is 85% there? I know the snare here doesn't have auto-cross sticking like Roland
The only e kits like are waaaay out price range. But those are the only ones that I like that actually feel and sound as close to the acoustic drums. But if you added up all the snare drums I've bought over the last 10 years I could have bought one of these kids easily
I really like this kit. especially the module. I have a couple of questions. can the snare detect if you are side sticking it. separate from just hitting the rim ? and how would this set plug into an audio interface. and how would it show up on your Pro Logic screen. would the drums and cymbals all be recorded separately on a different track ? or how would the kit show up on your Logic screen ? thanks
Strike Pro SE still a better option price wise and overall value for everything you get. I'm not gonna downgrade to the strata, if anything I'll upgrade my Strike pro with the hi hat eventually.
Just got my Strata Prime, and I’d like to share with you some major concerns before you make the purchase. After playing it for 3 days straight I’m wrestling with the idea of returning it! Let me start this off by saying Alesis did so many things right. The module is fantastic. The feel of the drums are awesome, and the sounds are well done. When I sit behind the strata you feel right at home, and it’s great. Unfortunately if you play with any sort of finesse you’ll find out quite quickly there’s some major short comings. The Hi-hat is lacking big time in my opinion. If you compare this to Roland’s equivalent it’s not even close. Any sort of dynamic playing with accenting, specifically 16th notes, just do not translate well. It makes your playing sound stiff, and the expression isn’t there. This can also be said about the other cymbals. While not as obvious and passable they still leave something to be desired. The drums themselves I found were also passable. Not too many issues to be comment on and I found them to be good enough. For me what this kit is lacking is all the subtleties of playing drums. If you’re just trying to play rock music without a ton of intricacies I think this kit would fit the bill. However, and this is a BIG however. If your goal is to be able to play things that require any kind of dynamics I think you’ll be disappointed as I was. While the price is indeed competitive I find this set to be overhyped, and while it has its place I find this kit to be sort of confused. Who should buy this? The price would say more advanced players who value what this seems to offer, but I think this is more suited for beginners or people who just don’t care about what I just pointed out. Overall I’m pretty bummed out about my purchase…after watching all the hyped up videos I had my hopes high, but I think it’s going back to the store sadly.
I like the module. Overall i like it but...... From a design standpoint: -I hate red and black color combo, probably the worst color combo ever. -The chunky plastic part on the bottom of shell is also ugly should be integrated into the inner shell as to make the person see more of a drum shell and less plastic. -Get rid of rack and use stands to eliminate crosstalk. -The rack would also look better as a chrome color. -Bottom of cymbals could also be a brass color or actually brass (cheap cymbal material) instead of black plastic. -Touch screen should have x-y effect pad just like they added to dj gear and Akai MPC
I am not impressed with the sounds at all! I have watched several "Strata Prime" videos, I love the kit design and sound module look and feel but every video has mediocre sounds. My Roland TD-9 with the V Expression "Master 50" expansion pack sounds way better, in fact the Roland "Studio" kit #1 sounds far better than anything I've yet heard from this module, surely this has better sounds than what this video demos?
I saw the kit & thought "that'll do for me" then hearing the sounds "through headphones" & changed my mind - I've still got my trusty old TD10 running SD3 and the sounds blows this away - gutted as I have the money ready too😢
I feel like they would still get noise complaints. I have a second hand Roland td4 and tried to play it in my apartment, even with headphones the neighbor next door complained about the tapping noises and the bass kick noises. My downstairs neighbor heard the vibrations coming through the ceiling but didn’t mind as long as they weren’t working. I don’t there’s anyway to avoid these things
All these years later.....and it doesn't sound much better than the DM Pro I used to have 20 years ago. Not going to compete with Roland that way. I don't care how it plays. 🙄
so they basically took a cymbal away, added 1k to the price and called it a day xD Are we ever gonna see a proper kit for anything less than 2k? I've been wanting to get a set for almost 20 years now and damn... 20 years have passed and the 1k market is exactly the same as it was back then... No cheaper sets coming, no used sets getting cheaper... You either invest 2-3k or you are left with the toy level stuff... It better have 1k worth of better triggering -_-
Yeah, that is such a very negative and might I say very incorrect way of looking at this. Yes you do lose a cymbal. But You are getting all chokable cymbals, bells on all your cymbals. A touchscreen module. With easily layered/stackable sounds and at 65 Drums reviewed, most of the garbage sounds that you’ll never play in favor of sets that you will actually want to play. Does it warrant the price tag? I would argue no. So I am definitely in agreement with you on the price but while you’re losing a cymbal you are gaining quite a bit more than the alesis strike pro kit.
They gave you a brand new module loaded with a BFD drum samples, a large color touchscreen, much improved three zone cymbals, improved hihat, and updated trigger design in the pads. They also made the rack more stable by providing extra cross bars on both sides.
@@johnburkhalter3880 I couldn't care less about the module, they could include one that just has a midi out without a screen or sounds or whatever and i'd be very ok with it to be honest... What matters is the triggering and that's it... Even the snare went from having multiple sensors to having only one with 3 cones... Another downgrade 😥
I’m a long time Roland guy and I don’t concur. The new technology has improved drastically. Roland is still the top dog if you have $12,000 + tax to spend.

Yes
Yes
Right on! Maybe us Strike owners will get a module firmware update! I'd love to get those BFD sounds locally, vs having to use a vst.
Perfect E Kit
Dumb question here. Do you need to run individual XRLs from the entire kit to your mixer or just one from the module???
Sounds amazing. Looks nice. Would’ve been fantastic if we could have specked a smaller kit though? I’d rather a kick, rack and floor tom personally as I’d never use the 8 and 10 toms
Beat me to it. Alesis should follow EFnotes lead in having different kit size options.
💯 agree. I’d love a 4pc configuration.

Still mesh heads....so it's going to feel like all E kits. Is there an e kit that actually feels like an acoustic kit?
