I did that last year, the guy at the nursery said no problem just trim the roots and cut some of the dead slim off and plant them. All 100 lived and are still doing great! I am so glad you planted than to try!

I ordered bare root strawberries from Stark Brothers this summer and they too ended up accidentally set in with our empty boxes. They were in their package for over 2 weeks before I found them again. They were a ghastly shade of white and fairly dried our. I soaked them for a couple of hours in a tub of water and then planted them anyway, because like you said, why not? Most of them grew just fine and produced a decent amount of berries for the first year. Good luck. I think they'll be fine.
Lol, I get it, I was flying out to see my boyfriend after I finished my time. Someone offered me a spider plant that went through two luggage checks. He is healthy today.

My eldest daughter and I have a cup of tea and watch a show together in the evening after the little ones are in bed. It’s such a precious moment I know I’ll cherish and I hope she looks back on fondly as well.

Being allergic, I'll never be planting strawberries. That being said, I can certainly appreciate the optimism and the philosophy behind "Give life a chance".
I love my Greenstalks so much, I've decided to gift some to a local assisted care facility this next Spring. I think I'll do one pre-planted and another one or two filled with soil and ready to plant. Probably include some seeds (although I remember mine always came with some seeds included) of flowers and some easy veggies. Maybe a few basic hand tools and watering cans. The way things have been, limiting visitors and such, it seems like something healthy and hopeful those folks might enjoy. I'll be sure to use your code when I order. It's going to be my Christmas gift to myself.

Easy apple fritter
Be encouraged! I bought a little 4pack of hyacinths in the spring and left them in the original plastic 4 section container with full intentions of dealing with them. When they died back I cut them off and put them on top of my fridge thinking that I would remember to take care of the bulbs. They got zero water for months. I forgot they were there. Last week I found them and a little green shoot had popped up above the soil. So I took them out and repotted them. I now have 4 little green shoots growing. I'm watering them and anticipating having the aroma of hyacinths in my kitchen in winter time. Lol They really wanted to grow! Maybe your strawberries are just as determined!

3+ yrs into year round gardening goals and the one thing I’ve learned to remind myself of: Plants and seeds WANT to grow! We just steward the process. Some things don’t work at first, other things surprise us. You’re right Jess, if you don’t plant it, it will never grow.

I can’t do anything with gloves on!
Gardening gloves are for dainty ladies who just can't bear to get their hands dirty... I figure if I'm already kneeling onto dirt, why be so precious about my hands getting dirty? It's not like a washing cycle takes less water than washing my hands does.
I have sensory issues with my hands, so I often wear gloves to keep gardening enjoyable...otherwise it would be sensory overload and no fun! Everyone's reasons are different...not just for dainty ladies!
I too have always been an avid no gloves gardener .... until this year when we moved onto our new property. I am now slowly adapting to life with rampant stinging nettle and thick gloves. There are very few pockets of my new garden that don't require gloves because my tolerance for stinging nettle welts is very low. Hopefully one day I will manage to contain the beastly stuff and go back to bare hands
I miss being able to garden without gloves. I have psoriasis so garden gloves are a must. I'm far from "dainty", but when my skin splits open frequently, it's not cool to be bleeding all over while playing in dirt 🤣

So proud of you for trying to get those strawberries going again. :) My little squirrels love to dig up my plants and I just keep putting things back in the ground, with more luck than no luck at still growing something. You've said it before, "Plants want to grow". Fingers crossed you get some plants still! Then will multiply like crazy and before you know it, you'll have strawberries everywhere! :)
Jess, don't beat yourself up about your strawberry roots. We all make mistakes. You're trying to revive them, if they grow, they grow. If not, it's a lesson learned. We still love ya😊

I grow my own peppermint, camomile and stevia. I dry the stevia in the freeze dryer and grind it into powder. I mix all 3 for my tea, add a little cream and drink it all winter. Is sooo good 🤤
Girl I tell my momma who was a first time container gardener this summer( I took her some tomatoes and peppers as well as cucumbers). If it wants to grow ,it is gonna grow! If you don't plant the seeds and try it , I guarantee you that you will not grow anything but at least you have the chance if you do plant the seeds! She had a very successful garden this year! She is even going to plant an in ground garden this spring. She remembered how much she loved gardening this past.summer. Thank you for the videos!
Well rats! I already ordered from Greenstalk before this came out! I had some strawberry plants that looked like yours this summer. Out of all the the plants, only one survived and I'm hoping that one makes it till next summer. Last summer was more like a funeral home than a waiting room but because of you, it became a classroom! 😜💕👍

When we moved to our new home 4 years ago, there were no vegetable gardens. One of the first things we did was plant a row blueberry bushes & strawberries as ground cover around the blueberries in amended soil. Then added wood chips for mulch. This garden is almost maintenance free.😊
Earl Grey tea with honey and cream is my winter go to drink. I have wonderful memories of my college days, drinking Earl Grey late into the night and talking, with my best friend Lesley, about our hopes and dreams for what our lives would turn out like. I think about those times every cup of Earl Grey. I always just stop what I am doing and sit down for a few minutes savor each sip of the tea and dream about what’s next in my life. I think that is one of the reasons God gave us Winters, so we could slow down and think about the coming year and what we really want to do and learn and accomplish.

At one time, anything bad happened, I cried. Now, I laugh about the crazy things that happen. It least now I know the difference between normal bad stuff and this is weird and .... I need to tell my fellow gardeners for support. Each state has an agricultural extension, they are a great resource!
While I'm sad that you made a mistake, I am happy that you followed your own advice and planted them, just in case! Quick question... could Jeremiah do a quick demonstration about how he made the little platforms your GreenStalks are sitting on? I have 4 that I need to set up next year and don't have the extra cash to level an entire area for them. I know they need to be level in order for the watering system to work. Thanks for any tips!
Jess I am coffee all the way. But you know if I am not feeling well when you seeing me drinking tea. I grew up with black tea loved it but that was in Europe. Here in Oz just can not find the taste in tea I use to have. It was Russain blact tea. Those strawberries just wait they will grow. Talk to them. Tell them you sorry they were in the box longer than they should of been. Ask them to grow because you love them. Yesterday a I had the first two flowers on my Crepe Myrtel I kiss them and thank them they opened for me. I am not mad or sick in the brain but my friend told me long time ago if you talk to the plants they appreciate it. So now I have to go out take my chair and coffe and talk to my Avocado tree I have just put out into the garden after nearly 2 years in a pot. It is not looking happy at all but I will try to cheer it up. Wish me luck. 🙂

Oh, I needed this! My sister-in-law gave me some bare root strawberries before Hurricane Ida. I didn’t plant them. Everything in my GreenStalk died during the hurricane because we moved it into the garage and our 3 day anticipated evacuation turned into a 3 week evacuation (still displaced from our home, but close enough to our home). I’m going to plant the bare roots and see what happens. May even pick up a leaf GreenStalk during this sale.
I would love to see a v-neck ladies cut t-shirt in your store. I did the same thing with strawberries. Those roots still look plump. Good luck!

Hot tea drinker here! All year round, like, 2-3 liters a day, all my life. I love the comfort of just being able to hold a hot mug in my hand, no matter the weather. Gives me peace :)
Well, if that's all you missed while your back was out then you're doing pretty good really...only the strawberries died! You accomplished a lot in the meantime.
Yes. I drink hot tea in the winter and I save the tea bags, let them dry out, open them up and dump them into an aluminum foil pan. Then let them dry out further. And then save it in freezer bags and collect more. In the Spring, I used it along with dried banana peels and sheep poop and added it to my garden beds. When I planted out my gardens, they grew immediately and took off. So, save that tea.
When you go to plant your strawberry patch, plant some everbearing and the bulk in June bearing with varying maturity dates. The June bearing will give you batches that are ready together for preservation while you can enjoy the trickle of the everbearing.
Raising hand for hot tea! As soon as the weather turns cool. In Texas that takes a minute. lol
Jess, loved your video and I accidentally did the same thing with a package of shipped strawberry plants. Some of the plants did survive. You mentioned that growth slows in your garden beds in the Winter which is normal. However, I have found that I can improve the growth by simply putting a frost cover over the plants. I suggest placing some flower pots turned upside down in the bed that are slightly taller than the plants. Next place the frost cover over the plants and place something on the outer edge of the frost cover to keep the frost cover secured in the wind. I truly believe you would be surprised how much more warmer the air under the frost cover will be. In the past I have filled plastic jugs with water and spray painted the jugs with black paint. The jugs headed up and retained some of the radiant heat from the sunlight during the night. Remember we never learn anything new unless we are willing to give it a try! You will never know what a blessing you have been in my life and I do miss the occasional devotional. You certainly made a huge difference in my life and I was finally able to I forgive God for things that happened to me in my childhood. May God continue to bless you, your family and your farm.

Don’t be too hard on yourself! Bury them in your strawberry bed! I went to the garden center to get strawberry plants with my ten year-old son. We already had the ground ready. We looked all around the garden center, but saw no strawberry plants. So we asked a lady who worked there and she told us to go to the refrigerator! I didn’t recognize them as strawberry plants...they looked dead, but we bought them, took them home and planted them! They soon looked great and I don’t remember if it was that year, but the next year we had a bumper crop! Each year we could pick a lot each day! So “don’t write those off” because I saw some white or very light green in there! I’d plant them as deep as possible IN your garden because the bottom of the small planters get very cold in the winter and they will freeze in those pots in the planters. You might have strawberries in the early spring!

I planted 20 bare rooted strawberry plants in our new garden about 18 months ago and had a wonderful harvest. Then when they sent out runners, I cut them off and planted them out as well. Every one of them have grown and now we have over 100 plants full of flowers and starting to fruit. They're such a robust plant.
On tea, my Dad drank tea - made the 'proper' way with looseleaf in a pot - all day long. It worked out to about 10 cups a day and he swore by tea on a hot day as something that cooled him down.
Tea for me! My dad is Irish and it's black tea in a porcelain cup with sugar and cream! Even with the yucky on the strawberries I am impressed with the roots on those! I ordered 50 this spring and the roots were tiny and none, absolutely none survived!

I’m in Australia and it’s been a cold wet spring, my partner and I still potted up multiple pots and a bathtub while we look for a farm to buy, it hasn’t done as well as we’d hoped but every morning we still get something, a sweet pea or a strawberry! Waiting for our tomato’s and beetroots and chilli to produce but it’s been so rewarding! Watching your channel encouraged me to do this, may as well plant something then have nothing! And when we move we can just take it all with us!
I feel your pain about the aphids. I picked a lovely handful of Kale for some soup this past weekend only to find several very healthy colonies of aphids. I live off the coast of Massachusetts and aphids in November were not on my radar. Time for a salt water bath. And yes, my drink of choice is tea. Earl Grey all the way!

Several years ago I ordered some comfrey roots and forgot about them. 2 months later I "found" them and they were not completely dead. I went out and planted those roots and ended up with 5 plants. I am going to dig them up and spread them around my yard, near the blueberry bushes, my grapevine, and several other special plants for the added benefits they give. If I had just admitted defeat I would have nothing but now I will have more than enough to spread and even share!
Jess, don't beat yourself up too much over the strawberries. Think about it as a supply chain problem, not anyone's "fault", and do what you can to fix it. Seems to me a lot of us spend too much time finding fault and not enough time finding solutions. Thank you for sharing this with us and making it a teaching lesson. Coffee in the morning and hot tea the rest of the day. Mainly in fall and winter. Coffee and water for spring and summer.
Jess, every time I try to plant strawberries in the ground, they get eaten by slugs and birds before I can enjoy them. I have much better luck in gutters or pocket planters.
Last spring, my strawberry patch got entirely taken over by 19 huge colonies of fire ants. I wrote those suckers off and planted new ones in containers this fall.

My personnal victory in the garden is squash, in three years I only had super tiny little things to harvest, and this year I finally ended up with normal size fruits. The main issue was water apparently.
For tea or coffee : I do coffee in the morning and tea the rest of the day. If I really want coffee during the day, my limit is between 4 and 5 pm or else I won't sleep at night. But nothing can beat tea to warm you up in winter, right?
I bought some bare root strawberries for the 1st time this year and when I got them I was a little scared, I didn't know they were supposed to look like that! But I'm in zone 5 and they started growing right away…. strawberries for next spring! Oh, and tea drinker year round. I am one of the few people I know who does NOT like coffee 😊

Jess this is a very warm November for our area. I planted strawberries for the first time this year, They had me plant them in a very sandy mix. We will see what happens. I hate you missed that box. I grew up with my tea drinking mama and her best friend who belonged to a tea drinker club where we got to try a new tea once a month and so i could hang out with the older women and learn recipes I grew to love tea , but as I got older some of my best friends were big time coffee drinkers so I switch back and forth depending on my mood .Drinking tea made me feel closer to my mama while I still had her with me . I miss our tea times .

Sometimes things don't go like we planned.....Life has a tendency to get in the way, and we just have to roll with it! I'm betting those berry plants are viable, and that you'll be enjoying fresh strawberries. For now, a cuppa tea sounds great! I'm also a coffee in the morning and hot tea, especially in the afternoon. Evening tea is now decaf - This old lady needs to get her sleep!
Jess, your coffee/tea situation is literally the same as mine. Coffee in the AM, tea after that, decaf tea later so I can sleep at night. The only difference is I'm the one with British heritage so my husband started drinking tea because of me. 😁🫖🤸🏾♀️

I got my first green stalk this spring. Planted it full of strawberries. I had them from May until fall and they were June bearing. It did so much better than our strawberry patch. I did feed it with liquid comfrey when watered once a week.
Coffee grounds and used tea bag contents are great fertilizer for container plants if you are out of fertilizer 😊
