From reading the comments, it sounds like we all want a revamped AC: Black Flag without having to deal with all the AC stuff, and with a more immersive and expanded RPG experience.

We do want a pirate game, not an assassin's creed (Was so pissed off anytime they pulled me out of game).
Action aventure with some exploration as black flag offers but with more options and mechanics on the management part (i mean fleet and hideout development and use).
There is some real potential here, and definitly a public. But multiplayer is kinda leeching every idea.
A game that's a combination of Sea of Thieves and AC Black Flag would be nice, with more gameplay mechanics.

You don't understand the point of the game. From the get go the developers have stated that the game is going to be naval combat focused. It's not going to be AC4 remastered.

I love how they're basically reselling Black Flag by bumping up the graphics and removing half of the content (you can't leave the damn ship). Classic Ubisoft.

And it is great
This game is missing quite a lot of things that would make it amazing:
- hunting & fishing
- swiming / diving for treasure on a sunken ship
- boarding a boat with possibility to fight (you can still loose / win) - once you win, you´ll get a chance to take the boat, sell it, or get the boats equipment (ammo, storage supplies etc.)
- treasure seeking
- bar drinking / fighting, sleeping with hookers
- island exploration (buying stuff on markets (food, clothes, alcohol, new weapons etc.)
- free customization of your ship (color, emblems, flags etc.)
This gameplay is from 2018, none of us know what state the game is in now,..do you always judge games on how they look 3 years before they're finished???

You can see the cannons on deck move back and fire with every volley

What made assassins creed black flag ship fight was the battles fought on the ship, but this game doesn’t have it. The part when you board the ship and fight for the loot is the most epic they need it here

Ship battles will eventually get repetitive and boring. And also no land exploration, they got really lazy and decided to copy black flags ship combat with just a few more details and better graphics.
Marwan Ibrahim if they added land exploration it would even more of a copy of black flag. Plus of course they would copy the ship combat of black flag for this game since it the best naval combat system in gaming (at least for the pirate era anyways). Also saying a part of a game will get repetitive fast shouldn't matter since all game, no matter how good, do get repetitive fast and that's just something people have to get over or just stop gaming. Also why is it lazy for them to make a full game based on a poplar part of one of their old game? If anything it's a great game for people who want an awesome pirate adventure without having to deal with the assassin story of black flag

Damn I was really hoping for a game that offered an open world rpg experience. I’ve wanted a pirate game ever since red dead :( building a crew, purchasing/pirating a ship, seeking treasure, hunting sea monsters, raiding coves, bar fighting in grimy saloons, and just exploring the vast and dangerous sea. So much potential

This game is a constant flood of noise, repeating voicelines, cutscenes and guns firing faster than a modern torpedo.
Rockets? Cannons with magazines? No land exploration? No boarding? Damage measured in points? Multiplayer? Abilities?

For Honor combat + big open world from Assassin's Creed Origins + Ships engine from AC4 = Biggest $$$ ever gained by Ubisoft.

The interesting parts (boarding, repairing, finding treasures on islands) are just cutscenes and every minute "[do this, do that], Mr. Mercy"? I was hyped for this game... I WAS hyped...
The only thing this game is focused on is the naval combat. If that isn't truely in depth, compedetive and fun, the game will instantly fail. I really hope the naval combat wont be as repedetive as shown here though.

New update is that they have a new vision for this game. This is great because maybe it means it is going to be an RPG like we all want. Land to explore with a story, ships to upgrade and explore the ocean. Huge battles like this gameplay. New trailer expected this year.

This is a timed challenge to collect loot. They switched boarding to a short cutscene so you'd have more time to go after loot.

Alex Moult The game is to be released on March 2021. Ubisoft took notice of the community’s suggestions and so they’re working on improving the game. But do take in mind corona... that might cause the game to be release even later. Will have to wait and see though.

Dammit Ubisoft you were so close to the best game ever. All you had to do was expand the RPG elements of Black Flag and make a massive pirate single player experience. But you had to go multi-player. So disappointing.

It does not makes us a pirate if we only just fight and sink other ships . The legacy of real pirates is to pluder ,loot , hunt treasure , board properly, explore island and ports , fish , hunt and would be better if there would be legendary sea creatures like Kraken.

At that age they weren't use to fire simultaneously because the result would have been an unbalanced ship and it would have probably sunk.
Pierdavide Carlea not quite, but close. What I believe you’re referring to is a rolling broadside, which was done (by highly trained gun crews) for a number of reasons but primarily to avoid structural damage to your own ship from all that recoil. Equal and opposite reaction and all that.
It’s not a matter of being unbalanced and sinking due to the recoil, but ether way; if they had implemented rolling salvoes that would have been a nice nod to historical accuracy.
What I’m talking about though, is that if you watch, individual cannons are firing while that same cannon and crew is going through the reloading animation. This is directly caused by the incredibly unrealistic rate of fire in the game.
Now, this is a demo; who knows what the full game will be. But as it appears now the ships seem like zippy, nimble little speedboats with (poorly implemented) semi auto cannons. To which I say “meh.”
It’s a shame with all the great technology they have access to that they make something as plain as shallow looking as this when they could be making a realistic naval warfare simulator that could actually be interesting

This game looks great but boy would it have been better if they made it open world like Skyrim and Elite Dangerous put together. I think it would have been nice to have the choice of being a pirate, merchant trader, bounty hunter, military officer, or explorer across the seas and waterways of a planet as well as several ways to upgrade your ship depending on your occupation.

I hoped to for it be similar to Sea Dogs or atleast POTBS , but we'r talking about Ubisoft that never done anything decent since Prince of Persia.

I was mad excited for this game until I learnt you can't actually leave the wheel of the ship. This had the potential to be one of the greatest pirate games of all time. But Ubisoft has been lazy and ignored the community once again.
Is it really that hard to make a pirate single-player game?? Black Flag was awesome, but that’s like the only pirate, non-crappy-multiplayer game.

sea of thieves, lots of new updates
Boarding combat, roaming about my own ship, diving off randomly into the big blue for a swim, underwater treasure using the diving bell, & Sea creature hunting were the best parts of AC. Add that I’m all in. Some extra things like fishing, drinking contests, tavern brawls, shanty collecting, customizable captains cabin like MHW, creating your own sails, & sirens like TW3 would be epic.
Is anyone content with how fast the cannons fire? Like, they continue to shoot even when the crewmates are still in the reloading animation.
We need to be able to have boarding and duels with cutlass and pistol. Also we should be able to leave the ship and explore

You know what would make this game great? Land exploration, base upgrading (like your docks or something), boarding ships with hand to hand combat (and being able to steal them too) while you leave your other ship on auto pilot (having someone else in charge). If this is just based in the ocean with nothing but boat battles.... I'll set sail somewhere else.
