On April 4, 2014, some of the best-loved musicians in the world assembled at the Royal Albert Hall to pay tribute to one of the most-missed musicians of them all: Jon Lord. “Celebrating Jon Lord” will be released as 1CD - The Composer, 2CD - The Rock Legend, 2DVD, Blu-ray, Box Set and Download on September 26th, 2014 on earMUSIC.
All product configurations feature individual cover artworks which are revealed for the first time today!
The Box Set features - besides the Blu-ray, 1CD The Composer and 2CD The Rock Legend - an exclusive T-shirt, a two-sided reproduction of an excerpt of Jon Lord’s original, handwritten music score for “Sarabande” - signed by Paul Mann as well as a 20 page reproduction of the evening’s original show program.
On top and as a real collector’s item, the box set also includes two very special 7-inch vinyls: the first featuring the hypnotic live version of Deep Purple’s classic “You Keep On Moving” with Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Micky Moody and on the B-side “Soldier Of Fortune”, both taken from the 2CD - The Rock Legend.
The second 7-inch vinyl stands in the tradition of Deep Purple as it includes the band’s touching live version of “Above And Beyond” originally from the no 1 album “NOW What?!” and here included in the magic Sunflower Jam 2014 live performance - a song dedicated to and inspired by Jon Lord. The B-side is dedicated to Lord‘s “Fantasia”.
Divided in two parts - the first focused on the classical music compositions, so dear to Jon Lord, and the second featuring a crescendo of emotions going through some of his highlights as a rock musician - the concert gave fans a chance to relive Jon Lord's remarkable and extensive musical career, remembering music from Paice, Ashton Lord, Deep Purple, his later classical compositions and everything in between - all in aid for the charity organization The Sunflower Jam.
The 83-piece Orion Orchestra performed, conducted by Paul Mann and accompanied by bands and artists such as Deep Purple, Paul Weller, Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Rick Wakeman, Joe Brown, Miller Anderson, Steve Balsamo and many, many more.
earMUSIC is revealing the first images from the show in a trailer video which includes excerpts from “Burn” (with Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickison, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Rick Wakeman), The Artwood’s “Things Get Better” performed by Paul Weller, “This Time Around” performed by Glenn Hughes and of course, snippets of the grand Deep Purple finale including the songs “Uncommon Man”, “Perfect Strangers” and “Hush” featuring Bruce Dickinson, Rick Wakeman, Phil Campbell, Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody.

Bruce is like a child, singing with the band of his childhood, the band who gave him the desire to become the great singer he is.
@@IgorSusman Yeap, Dickinson is a Gillan man through and through as he has stated on numerous occasions - and it showed from day 1. I wonder how many times did the young "Bruce Bruce" practice Child In Time back then in his formative years.
You need to see him singing with Ian Anderson, he doesnt bother with a mic!
@@IgorSusman Of course ! He is most of all a MKII fan.
Jajajajaja yeah, Dickinson looks very happy
Incredible how the voice of Hughes is still in shape.
His Voice is a bloody fucking Monster! Awesome!
I saw him last year doing an best of deep purple show... he was in hreat shape. Still a great voice and so much energy
My thoughts exactly. He's still got the pipes. I always thought he sang better than Coverdale.
@@j3dwin he doesn't have the power that Coverdale has.
@@simaosilva1938 Coverdale has a better overall range but Glennis better at hitting high notes
Glenn Hughes....holy shit!! He can still out-sing anyone, and he's in his 60's here. Paicey is still the perfect drummer. Amazing.
It's just sick having Bruce and Glenn sharing vocals with Airey and Wakeman on keys. Insane!
What a band
Ian Paice is a beast!!! One of the best of all time....
Fraid not. Neal Peart
Sorry didn’t see the one of bit
@@mikewhipps3161 Neal who???
Paice Model himself off Buddy Rich and dose a fantastic job of it
@@jecos1966 Yup! Rich was a big hero to Paicey. And as Paicey is the best rock drummer in the world, then he is a person to listen to.
Deep Purple + Dickinson + Wakeman - what a supergroup!
I didn't see Mr. Wakeman but I did see Mr. Airey
@@kimmoeskelinen597 You can see him almost exactly 3 minutes in
I noticed no one mentioned Ian Paice working his butt off. One of the best drummers ever. If you want to be negative about everything else fair enough. But Paicey out played everyone there.
I tottaly agree with you sire. He's the best drummer ever in the history of man kind
The second best. First is Neil Peart ;)
When hasn't he?
Loukas Papakostas Bonzo, Moon, Peart
Carl Palmer is no slouch.
I love seeing so many people rocking out here, and not one cell phone in sight
There really aren't many vocalists that have kept their voices still performing so powerful at their respective (and for a rock star likewise respectable) age. Chapeau, Bruce and - even more so - Glenn!
Bruce Dickinson is still the teen dream 💕
Nice to see Ian and Glenn on stage together after all of these years.😁😁🤘🤘🖖🖖👍👍☺☺
I am so amazed by Glenn's voice - he's still got it after all those years!
Ian Paice is fantastic. I love Ian Paice, for your long activity in rock music. You are the best! From Romania whit love.
This can be used as a guitar backing track.
Bloody great idea !
@@primitiveCoolaus1 I think he means guitar can't be heard here
He does mean that and he's right, that's what makes it such a great idea hahahaha
Where’s Ritchie
Same here, that’s a great idea
That dude on 3rd viola is the fucking shit!
Ian Paice - Phenomenal drumming and listen to the hi-hat acting like a metronome. Spot on. More importantly is that Glenn Hughes or Les McQueen from Creme Brûlée :)
Dickinson/Hughes should do an album
Both vocalists being still so epic after so many years is a testament to their hard work, gifts, and dedication.
Brits are known for making best hard rock/heavy metal songs in the world
That's because we invented it.
wanderer1955 Yep Birmingham has a lot to answer for 😂
@@donharrold1375 Have to agree. ELO. Moody Blues (Denny Laine). Black Sabbath. Roy Wood. Bev Bevan. Steve Gibbons Band. All Birmingham. Birmingham I salute you.👍
wanderer1955 You could add half of led zeppelin (plant and bonham both west midlands guys), judas priest and trapeze the list goes on. I always turn up my car radio when I'm driving along the M6/M5 through the city 😂
How, true...
Megadeth?
This is hard rock, asshole.
veeeery nice !!! Mr Paice plays "Burn" still fantastic ! Hughes , Airey , Dickinson and everyone play very good ! excellent song , Burn ! All reminding that fantastic musician called : Jon Lord !!!! ( R.I.P.)
Glenn Hughes awesome for a 62 year old!!! Brilliant
Hell, would be awesome even for a 25 year old,he vocally shits on everyone regardless of age. :D
Glenn is inhuman. He's a monster. He sounds better now (at 66 when I'm replying to this) than he did when he was in his 20's in Deep Purple.
brillant, kevin , she said yeah yeah yeaaa
Now he's 67 and he sounds brilliant
Rest in Rock Jon. One of the kindest men I ever met. Ian, as always, a wild man! Love you guys!
I met Jon Lord once. He did the encomium at a friend’s funeral in Zermatt.
I have been a DP fan since Machine Head but because of the context I didn’t recognise him. How embarrassing.
But he did my friend Candy proud. Thanks Jon.
Rock n' roll in it's pure state
and yes I agree, and paste, nobody even mentioned this badass drummer! In my opinion one of the best drummers ever to sit on the throne!
in my opinion Bruce sounds f $#@n awesome here.
pessomar He always sounds fucking awesome.
Yeah i think so bro
Your "opinion" is wrong then. He is and always has been garbage. He is famous from gimmicks. Not music
@@johnvincent1823 Are you STUPID? of course yes.
@@johnvincent1823 what do you mean by "gimmicks" exactly?
A huge tribute to Jon Lord. An outstanding group of musicians gathered in the most powerfull version of Burn ever. Despite all differencies, Blackmore and Coverdale should have been there.
The voice of Rock and the voice of Heavy Metal
Amazing piece of work..RIP Jon Lord
ROCK AND ROLL , AND NOTHING MORE MY FRIENDS .
I can't be there. I am here. big thanks to the musicians, you made the day more beautiful.
Epic... what a formation, what a rendition... Glenn Hughes is really giving it all here.
Bruce sounds absolutely fantastic here
When Glenn's vocals brings prime Paice back again!!! Damn!!!!!!!
Tears flowing... thanks for this.
I'm crying.. . Thank you Jon Lord. Thank you Deep Purple.
Damn i just found this 5 years after being uploaded, poor me. Incredible legends show their skills. No word can describe.
Wow! Bruce 🖤🖤🖤 Fantastic! 🇧🇷
Brilliant, just brilliant. A real high spot in an evening which surpassed all expectations. Bless you Jon and all those who performed in his memory.
this is the most badass thing I've seen I a long time. and I saw Deep Purple live 3 weeks ago.
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT BURN
long live rock.
JON R.I.P
No one can sing this song better than Jorn Lande.
I want the name of Glenn Hughes’ voice coach. The man has not lost a thing in 40 years. Amazing.
This is a very great Rock Concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great interpretation, but I wish I could hear the guitar in a better way!
Good GOD...
This is more than awesome performance..
R.I.P
Just stumbled across this brilliant what an experience it must have been to be there live
Man, these guys tore it up so hard. Love them all!
El swing de Ian Paice es inigualable
What an audience.....wHaOaaOaOaa......the band got them all up on their toes......🎵🎶🎼🎶🎵🎼
Ciao
Price & Hughes & Wakeman are insanely good here.
Re-mix it with the guitar sound on, & this will be awesome!
Fantastic!
The eternal idol Mr. Glenn Hughes #respect
Silence!! Gods singing!
Rick Wakeman on Keyboards with Don ! WoW.
ouais Didier, tu l"a dit , quelle bandes de fous !
Jesus; Bruce is on fire here - Absolutely smashing it. Great stuff.

Without words, simplely EXCELSE!!!!

you can't hear the guitar
Guitarist sneakily turned his amp off so he wouldn't get destroyed in the comments 😉🤣😂
can't see his face either! LMAO
Deep Purple is a LEGEND...i love them, btw in this song there are the beauty & the beast united in one so it will never boring to listen...sweet interlude vs rockkkkked beat.

That's beautiful
Maraaaaaavilloso!!!!!!
Perfect Strangers tour,Jon Lord,Ian Paice best key board drum solo combos I've ever seen. They were awesome.Looked like a biker playing keyboards!R.I.P.....
Burn is Ian's epic contribution to drums history
Dickinson and Hughes are super humans
🎶The audience filled the ALBERT HALL...
About this lucky man who made the grade
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
They were all so really sure that HE was from the HOUSE OF LORD..! 🎵
why wasn't Coverdale , Blackmore and Gillan not on this show ? they should do one all together for Jon
The Royal Albert Hall doesn't have enough rooms for that amount of egos put together.
Someone would have to leave, and probably physically injured.
In order to avoid any kind of disturb that could take the spotlight out of Jon Lord's work and life, the ones above listed probably didn't accepted the invite.
But I'd pay to see those grandpas punching each other.
Yes, Ritchie and Ian egos would need hundrets of rooms 😉
Gillan was there, as well as the rest of the current Deep Purple. I believe Coverdale was busy but I don't think he'd have a problem with anyone in that room, as we saw in the Rock & Roll HOF induction. As for Blackmore? IIRC the official explanation was something along the lines of "he chooses to celebrate the life of his dear friend in a more private way" but I'm not buying it.
@@Martsapso21 Purple haven't made a great album since Blackers left. They have just been going through the motions. I think they have retired now.
Deep Purple came for the later half time of the party. Sadly they didn't play Smoke on the Water as the final one with everyone who was involved. Jon contributed also on that one among the other lads.
Great . Marvelous ... gods are in live ...
Bruce must be in Heaven, singing Deep Purple with rock royalty in the RAH
Stand up and enjoy people, is fucking rock n roll 🤘
The point of this was for Jon. Not for anyone else. I will always respect what Jon gave to us. :)
???: how much vocal do you want?
Mixer: yes
Guitarist is Murray Gould from The Wanted. He's not exactly killing it here. He didn't do a very convincing job on Ritchie's parts. I don't think he has the chops to be on that particular stage with those Rock Gods. Hughes, Dickenson, and Paice all still at the top of their game. Especially Glenn. Nearly unbelievable vocal power for a man in his early 60's. Only other rock singer I ever heard with ability like that in his 60's was Dio.
In my mind no one could hold a candle to Ritchie Blackmore. The very best I ever heard.
You cant hear the guitar in the mix
@@johnoberle9750
exact
Blackmore is unique
Dio sang an octave lower in his 60's.
I can play it better than him, but I haven't got the hair...
I was at this show...what a great performance!
Paice is still a fucking monster!
I don't know about you people but Glenn Hughes is at his peak, playing that bass line steady, and vocals, right there, professionally as it can be.
And he's pushing his late 60-ies. Big respect for all of them though
Rock and roll Forever and ever 🎶🎸🎤❤️🔝🔝👏👏🤘🤙🤟💯🔥🔥💥🌟🌟💪🛸🛸🎧🎵
Paice and Hughes...no disrespect to anyone else there- but those are the titans of that stage. Glad Hughes cleaned his act up.
Ian Paice👏👏👏👏👏
R.I.P john lord
GENIOS!!!!!!!!!!
Again. Soouuu Gooood 🤩
Paicey ,,!!!! Always driving and grooving the Purple songs, fantastic drummer, he’s entertained me since the early 70’s when I was given a K Tel album that had Black Night on it!,! Rated No 1 by Pete Surgey of Witchfynde - my oldest mate and a man of infinite good taste and judgement.
Oh my God. I was there and probably it's even powerful than I remember.
