You can add those relations when you hover in the cover area. Then click Relations and add it the same way as you do in the video! Thanks for uploading another Anytype video, great to see more content for this great piece of software 👍

      No way.
This just made my day. I shall rectify my sin of ignorance asap. Many thanks, good sir.

Can you do a video on how PROJECTS / TASKS currently work? I don’t currently care for how notion has specifically recurring tasks…
I’m signed up for onboarding for 1st Thursday of June… excited to try it out but I’d love for you to do a preview of this for me!

I'll try to get a video out on that! We'll see how finals go though.

Nice implementation of templates, but indeed hope they clarify the issues you raised at then end of you video. Thx!

Looks like the pinned comment resolved this. But you are most welcome!

The way to make Anytype useful for me is to use a lot of custom types.
It lacks the ability to make custom format visualizations: i.e I can create a Price "relation"/property of type number and display it formatted as €Price or select the number of leading zero etc... I can't make a base_type like Number or Email isn't it?

Man, I don't know why I hadn't thought of this! I'll look into it when I get home, and give it a shot.

Question: 1.Everything is an object, 2.An object has a type. 3.Relations connect Objects? The AnyType example then shows us relating to different books in the object o a Book. But isn't that realting two types to one object and not realting two objects?

    • @pianomacpower
      @pianomacpower  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Not quite. The idea is that both of your books are objects. Both of them are of the object type "book," but they're different books. You can still make a set of books and see them all, but they are two different objects (notes, in the most basic sense). They all have certain relations, but it's possible for them to have the same value for a relation (for example, they could both have 626 page numbers, or the same author). Think of Object type as another relation, one that every object inherently has. Both books are object type book, and have other relations that can relate to other objects (for example, both a book and movie could share the same Release Year relation).

@@pianomacpower You are the first youtuber that creates on the regular basis content about AnyType (thank you!).
But i am really not quite understand that topic of Relations too...They differ from Backlinks (@ symbol)? Cause for example in Obsidian or Logseq apps backlinks are Relations (that mean that 2 or more notes are interlinked).. And AnyType claims that Relations are properties of the Object (note) ? Am i right? Relation (property) does not create a new Object with the same name?
Than what about Folders? How to create hierarchy? Do i need to use backlinking (@ symbol) to do it?
      Thank you!

@@andypassion5787 Many thanks! I think the easiest way to understand a Relation is to equate it to a tag that can be used for more things. A relation with a property doesn't create an object, it just means the current object has that value for that relation. So if the day a movie released is in its Release relation, and a book has a Release relation with the same day, it would connect them. As far as the @ symbol goes, I don't believe so... I've never come across it, but I've also never experimented with it. I shall give it a try though 👍

@@pianomacpower Maybe we can discuss it in your next videos?...I just write it down some questions that comes to my mind (maybe it will be useful for videos) that gets me confused:
      1) if we use @Backlinking or Relations (tags another words) the both notes gets connected (in graph and flow views). So what is the main difference between those methods?
      2) Is there a way to create new Vault (or multiple Vaults=Work Directories) -> for example i want to start fresh and delete all my previous notes (objects)
      3) What does command "/inline set"?
      4) What about command "/relation" (inline relations)
      5) The best it would be to see your workflow or real life usage. For example:
      5.1) We creating Project A
5.2) Filling it with tasks (i think using Type Task)
5.3) Making some attachments or notes connected with Project A
5.4) Creating some new Types + Templates (bth how to fast apply template without navigating to page of the template itself)
5.5) Analyzing the graph or flow Views to see the structure/hierarchy/connections
5.6) Using sets for fast navigating (for example make sets for All tasks, For all tasks related to Project A, for all Images or Pdfs, etc).
      If it is possible 😅

@@pianomacpower So a type is also an object? That just plays with my mind.
