Gentlemen, I was looking for a concertina instrumental arrangement of this tune (Bold Riley that sounds nothing like the song you sing),when I came across your arrangement. I was looking for the instrumental to play at my brother’s funeral last week because he played it on his concertina. Well, he was also an avid sailor. Your arrangement was played at his grave while the casket was lowered. It was a fitting farewell. Thank you for the gift.
There's nothing like TLJ's harmony to accompany you driving the lonely road at night. Be it happy song like Hoist Up The Thing, or the subtle one like Bold Riley, or Bones In The Ocean. Just sing along, and the night road wouldn't feel too lonely.
Drop in on Home Free... more wonderful harmonies. And one of the Home Free members, Adam Chance, joined TLJ's on their U.S. tour a couple of months back.
Another great one. I'd love to see three fishers next, BUT NOT AS MUCH AS I WANT ALL THESE STUDIO SONGS ON A SPOTIFY ALBUM!!!! You can do what Sean Dagher did with his shanty of the week series/album. These studio songs are probably your best works and it's a shame to see them stuck on TH-cam
They've got a good sound engineer, though the mix is opposite to the video - bass voice is on the left channel though the bass singer is sitting on th right :)
I grew up listening to Kate Rusby's version of this song. You guys have a talent for doing these songs I know by different artists as well, and sometimes better. Never a disappointment!
@@ynysafalon So many musicians I grew up listening too aren't online much, either bands broke up/left the industry before streaming or just arent online much
Yeah sounds like it's by voice; JD (bass) is mostly to the left and Robbie (high harmony) is mostly to the right, with Andy (lead) in the middle. Ironically, opposite to the way they're sat on the couch
@ProfesoraNut i listened to the premier straight from my phone speakers and didn't notice it. Re listened once i put my over ear headphones on, and I picked up on it quickly. I could still hear it a little in the opposite ear, but it was definitely more prominent on either side.
I love that I keep forgetting when these are due (not lack of interest, I just lose track of the days). It's such a tonic to be greeted with a notification that a new one is here. Really love this one, beautifully sung by all, but Andy in lead is particularly prevalent among my top favourite recordings.
Mixed as if the listener was seated in the middle of the couch…..interesting choice. I like it, but it’s strange to watch the bass vocal on my right and hear his voice in my left ear.
@@CapriUni I'm not sure - I only know it from Twelfth Night (I played the Fool in college and that song is lodged in my brain!). Hmmmm... and thank you!
Why don’t you guys perform like this in your concerts? During the Chicago concert my husband left. He could hear you guys outside of the hall. You don’t need the drums, the flashing lights or the raucous music. You just need the three of you. Without the nonsense, you are perfect.

So strange to be called by name at 2:32 and told to cheer up in the middle of a sad 3-part harmony. Love it!
Well, you have rum for White Stocking Day!
As someone named Riley, i am feeling bold today now
Damn bro lost his hair cause of a song 😔 (Ik it’s different spelling 😂)
Those harmonies! Just sitting here hitting the repeat button. Beyond adequate! ❤
totally, I've probably listened to this song 20 times since it was released 3 days ago. Harmonies are just sublime.

Phenomenal lads. Those harmonies were perfect.

So did I! I was hoping I might see someone else mention Kate Rusby. ❤ TLJ definitely didn't disappoint with this one.

Is it just my ears, or is this mixed low to the left and high to the right? The sound is amazing in headphones!

May be settings, but I'm getting a little of both in both earbuds ... You're right, sounds amazing though! Maybe your settings are different?
I'm getting the same effect. They must have used stereo microphone settings instead of a mono system.
Good ear!

@@austinalfred4851 Nice! I'll have to fiddle with my settings and see if I can get the same effect
I fell in love with this song through the dreadnoughts and love this rendition.
Back to basics, I love it! This is where you gents shine.
Mmm, loved it! Really beautiful Fantastic harmonies yet again. I know I've said it quite a few times, but I have to say it again: I love Andy's voice!
It gives me shivers yet calms at the same time
Great tune guys, always a pleasure listening to you fine shanty singers. Cheers 🍻
Mhm its songs like this one that always reaffirm to me that you guys are the best!
So lovely! And coming from the land of 50 kajillion cicadas, JD's shirt is 🤌.
Amazing song, and vocals! That CICADA shirt really catches the eye and doesn't let go;)
Always a wonderful surprise to see you guys in my subscriptions. Fantastic as always!
One of my absolute favorites!!! You guys sang it beautifully ❤
I'd love a cover of Paddy Lay Back. I'm sure you lads would have fun with it
Love the Cicada shirt! Love the song, too. Thanks, gents.

wonderful song! The Longest Johns, you are the best! Sou els ,millors!
The generated captions for this video are hilarious
Beautiful song, thank you for singing it 💙
Great work! I first heard the song when the Wailin' Jennys did it, and have loved it ever since.
One of my favorite shanties!
Smooth and beautiful harmony as always. 'Star of the County Down' next? 😏
That moved me, well done!
Thanks boys, havent heard that in ages - great stuff
Adequate! 👏🎶🎵🎶
Black Mountain Cider and Mead! Represent!
One of my favorites from the Teacups
VEry nice
Wake up lads TLJ just drop new song!
Beautiful...😌
Waiting for The John's version of Sail The Raging Sea ( The British Tars)!
Quite lovely 😊
I'm so sad I wont be able to see you guys when you perform in the colonies!
Do you think you could ever cover Billy Joel's "Downeaster Alexa"? It's one of my faves and I think I'd enjoy hearing your interpretation.
Thank you
🥺 I love this video so much.
Nicely done.
That was so good
The high part at Riley makes the song for me
Was that a stifled bass singer yawn at 2:28? 😁
I am begging for a Nebraska video
❤
Will you please do El Paso by Marty Robbins?? Or Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford
Entirely adequate.
Mixed as if the listener was seated in the middle of the couch…..interesting choice. I like it, but it’s strange to watch the bass vocal on my right and hear his voice in my left ear.
And that bass vocal sounded mighty fine!
Can you guys do Court of the Crimson King?
Bo-bo-bo-BO’Reillys! (Sorry I couldn’t help it)
Very adequate 🙂
Get crackin me lads it's a bloody long way!!!
Wow JD is turned up high in this mix? It's unusual to have the bass so dominant. Very pretty tune though.
Neet
Is the first line a reference to the fool's song in Twelfth Night?
Ooh! good catch! Or are both a reference to a common folk saying?
