I just bought the 5,000 BTU unit with remote control for my college apartment bedroom and it's worked great so far. Only had it a week though. You are right on that eco mode temperature swing. I'll usually only use eco mode if I'm leaving the room for a 10-20 minutes or so, otherwise I just turn the unit off because it does cool the room in less than 5 minutes. Not a bad unit so far.
Year update! I re-installed the unit today and remembered that I had commented on this video. The unit worked very well last summer and I expect the same this summer. My only complaint is that the bottom of the filter vibrates sometimes against the front, but to mitigate this I took a small piece of cloth and shoved it in between the crack at the bottom where the plastic touches to act as a noise dampener, and it works great that way.
Thanks for the update...it’s been too cold up here in the Northeast to even think about installing out A/C unite yet. I’m hoping mine works great this year as well.
@@chrisquick7160hi did the noise get any worse when running mine does same noise like a water noise and loud air together really annoying not sure if it will get worse
Agree! The modes are weird, i’m plain jane and just use the regular mode. That ticking noise, i’ve had it happen solely due to the positioning of the air conditioner in my window - if i slanted back it a tiny bit i had no sound at all. I do remember seeing issues could arise in certain AC’s if its not on a supported slant due to it needing to release condensation. This however could just have been a weird fix by me!!! Not sure, but the past 3 years have been fine for me. When i screwed the AC into my window super tightly (mind you, i had just had a brand new window installed at this point, so wear and tear over windows i can see may be an issue). This air conditioner honestly BLASTS cold air in my house. If you arent into all the bells and whistles, get it. Once i found the proper adjustment to my window I am in heaven! 95 f, 35 celsius today and i have 61 f, 16 celsius in the house now! :)
That sound you hear it's the water hitting the condenser fan on the outside something about keeping the condenser coil cool from the heat. And the water itself supposed to drain right out.
Just bought mine about 2 months ago, and now its stuck on eco and at 78 or 79 degrees depending on how it feels after I unplug and plug it back in. Dont get me wrong, it blows cold as hell when its actually working but I knew right off from the initial start up noises that it had out the box and still has when its on. Compressor kicks on and off, it blows, it comes on when you plug it in. But none of the buttons work so considering that it's barely 2 months old, and I paid like 500 and some change for it, im taking the bastard back to Walmart soon as the sun comes up! Flipping bullshit!
1 yr update, how does the TCL a/c hold up? I heard typical lifespan is 10-15 years! Thanks for honest answer! Would you pay $100 for an unused unit, or just get brand new for $50-60 more? Thanks!
pretty good video overall, need to speak up a bit kind of mumbley with the speech. Just sounds like a low cost unit where you get what you pay for ... Thanks for posting.
I have the 10000 one. Ping is normal. Modes are self explanatory. Cool cools. Fan is just fan. Dry is for when it's 17-25c and very high humidity. It will pull some humidity out of the room to make it cool and comfortable.
@@jaycobmelo1904 had it 2 summers and it was perfect for the apartment. Had to replace it but that was to do with roofers that dropped tar in it. If it wasn't for that it would still be in there. Replaced it with identical unit. Manual sucks but other than that it is great
Yes I'm replying to my own comment lol. FYI I live in Toronto so humid summers. Usually keep the ac in the window until first snow usually November. Fall days are hot and we face west so it's used most of the year April to November.
These units have a small issue in the design of them….. What happens is when ur digital control goes beeping or just plain out crazy random switching and moving weirdly all over ….. It is a easy fix….. On the back of the front grill that can be remove condensations builds up on the back of the digital control board and gets in there causing it to go random form the moister the ac itself creates. Put a small piece of that window foam tape for windows down the left inside face of the unit when the front goes back on it will create a seal to stop it from getting in there and no more issues again I have had mine for 7 years now no issues with that fix…..
Less then a year now control panel buttons don't work and the digital panel reads 88 won't change. It response to the remote works but only when switched to fan mode. AC mode don't blow cold. Tried unplugging not working. Can't find a reset can't seem to take it apart without force risk breaking it.
Why does the up and down buttons on the control and unit itself only change the digital temp if it's in cool mode..all the other modes..dry,fan and auto it beeps but doesn't change the numbers unless it's in cool.
I've had a 10,000 BTU TCL A/C unit and love it. I do think there is water swishing around inside. How do I get rid of that? I am also in an apt and the A/C above drips on to mine. Drives me insame.
pretty sure the water slashing around in this model is meant to happen. It dosnt have a drain port from what im aware so the way it cools down is to have water sling around it.
Normal. Water will collect in pan and be used to humidify the air a bit. There is a drain hole but its small. Maybe the diameter of index finger. If it's tilted back more than a 1/4 inch it won't drain until its super full but it will definitely drain. Apt above me drips in mine as well.
so is there no solution for the clicking sound? i was about to exchange mine out for the same model since it cranks out cold air i love it so far but the clicking sound is kinda annoying i thought it was faulty. any suggestion would help thank you
Probobly it has water stock inside then it hit by propeller of fan. It was happen when the aircon was not placed properly. The water cant comes out. And stock inside.
The timer is constantly beeping and blinking 0.5. Does any body have a clue on how to shut the timer off for good. The manual directions do not make any sense to my dyslexic brain.

Sorry for the late reply but you shouldn’t have to remove the unit unless it’s a very windy rainy storm in which case some water could leak in through the small voids in the side panels.

Having the same problem after a month. I will never buy a TCL AC again. I have a Haier window AC that has worked like a charm for 3 years i guess you get what you pay for
I have this same unit and it's starting to fail on me in less than 6 months. The timer never really worked on it and when it did it was a hit or miss. that clicking sound is either condensate dripping or condensate getting hit by the condensor fan blades or refrigerent but shouldnt be an issue
