I have a 2010 S4 with about 63k miles. An oil change at the dealership runs me around $155 (one oil change a year). The 55k mile service was just under $1,000 and that was an oil change, inspection and spark plug replacement. S models are much pricer to do maintenance vs an A model....usually around twice as much on average. All 4 brakes, rotars will cost you around $2,000 to replace.

I watched both your videos on your S4 and have to say they've actually helped me a lot. My wife's next car is likely going to be an A4/S4 or an A6 and you're providing a lot of good info on helping me make that decision. We were leaning toward the sportier S4 because of the styling and the fact that my wife wants something cooler after 2 decades in a minivan or crossover. You saying how the back seat is not really useful for adults though has me leaning toward the A6 now since we still have to cart our 3 late teen boys around with us every once in a while. Thanks for the info and keep the good content coming.

Most of the stuff you can check and confirm. Stuff like differential fluid, transmission fluid, and hard to get to part rotations may be ignored. I never found any chain of responsibility for proof in any mechanics shop. Very low cheap places even fake oil changes if they notice the color is normal.

I stopped going to the dealership when I found out that my Audis oil change at $120 was too much given that it didn't even include a new air filter... -_- you're paying too much for these services, Audi is a reliable car and you don't need to pay for all of these extra expenses. You're a car guy and you should know this.

the attitude of "if you don't maintain, the invoices will keep getting bigger" is the attitude the dealers want you to have. if you are aware and follow all the systems of the car yourself, more or less, no one can toss you about that way. Also, audis have two types of services - the small service (i live in a metric country so i won't translate what mileage determines what items changed) and the large service. Look in your service/maintanance leaflet/book, whatever it's called in US. It describes precisely what needs to be replaced at what mileage, and no dealer can tell you otherwise. And no, a car at 20-30 k miles does not need bleeding brakes (unless the owner complains expressly the brakes have gotten "mushy"), and neither does it need the window wash fluid topped up for 20 bucks. If you find an honest dealer, make sure he always fills out and stamps the service leaflet/book, as that's the only reason you visit him in light of future resell value. That and the fact that you don't have a garage or are too lazy to maintain the car yourself. One thing you absolutely want to keep up with, or even exceed (i.e., replace at shorter intervals), is the engine oil for any turbo/supercharged vehicles.

    •APR flash tune
•Roc Euro intake - supercharger whine!

•Lightweight wheels - less unsprung weight and a unique touch

I got a 2012 s4 prestige package. I bought it with 60k miles on it. I always upgrade my car so it is pointless to buy new or lease considering it took me having it 3 days to get it to APR tuning. So far I had supercharger pulley upgrade, cold air intake, stage 3 93 octane tune, down pipes and upgraded to powerstop brake rotors and pads high performance. I have to schedule next appointment in a few weeks for supercharger cooling system, underdrive pulley, throttle body upgrade and transmission tune. Then I will be done. Maybe better mufflers but that's it. Love the s4 though lol makes people in mustangs, wrx and Camaros say wtf just happened lmao

Your service experience unfortunately depends on the competency of your service advisor. I myself work at a respectable Volvo dealership in Florida. I have found advisors ad other dealerships charge not only for services that are not necessary but over charge as well. Let me be clear, there is no guideline stopping this from occurring so shopping around prior to choosing your forever advisor is highly recommended.
Always know what services are included at your service increments as well as what is a dealership recommendation. It is important because depending on your region, there may be service required in certain regions and other services will he necessary more often than dealership or even manufacturer recommended ( example: replacing cabin and engine air filters in regions where there is more dust or even sand blowing about) also more frequent fluid changes where there is more heat.
Some advisors are newer to the industry or brand leaving you susceptible to services that lack or are not needed. Be always on the lookout and exercise your right to be informed. Read public ratings for the dealership as well as the ratings for your advisor. All are not created equal and the star of that dealership may be so overwhelmed that his or her service quality may decrease due to over popularity. It's only their fault if they overbook themselves on purpose. When you're new at a dealership. Use different advisors there at first. You may find the underdog is better with you and gives you the best undivided attention and service.
I should have a channel of my own since I have so much info to offer lol. I hope I have been able to help at least one person reading this. Good look guys and girls.

So basically, there is no maintenance aside from all of the baloney cash grabs put out by the dealer that a lot of owners fall for. Just like any preppy car. "The 25k maintenance" more like "if you've driven this far with nothing wrong, bring it in, we'll charge 1000 dollars so we can find something wrong, then we'll charge you to fix what we found wrong." Yeah, I would not be going to any of those bullcrap maintenance things. If your car is fine, and your belt isn't cracking, your life is fine. Buy your own fluids and top off your own fluids and just keep driving.

So you had a CPO vehicle with a warranty but they still charged you for service? I went to an Audi dealership the other day to look at a CPO S4 and I was told that the warranty covers service fees, unless I misinterpreted something

    Hi Eddie,
Fellow B8.5 S4 owner here. Did you get Audi Care on the car? I believe you prepay a percentage of the maintenance but over time the scheduled maintenance equates to a lower rate.
Also what mods do you have planned?

    • @tuneman7688
      @tuneman7688 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Just an FYI, I've read they flush the DCT fluid at 45K which can be expensive at the dealer though it's covered under Audi Care.
I also want to do Exhaust/Intake, Stg.2+Pulley eventually. All best, looking forward to seeing what you do with the car.

Not sure if you answer this type of questions, I recently bought a 2014 S4 with 40k miles. It has me a little worried that when I make a sharp turn into a drive way or parking in general a sharp turn going slow the car feels rough even like a very small shake on tires and steering. Is this normal on an all wheel drive? I've never driven an all wheel drive.

I am considering to either buy an Audi A4, BMW 320i, or Mercedes C300. I've been hearing from others that out of all three, the costs of maintenance from Audi is the most expensive. Thanks for making this video. I'm still researching. Heard that BMW covers the first 50k miles....or was it the first few yrs, so I'm not sure if the Audi is really more $$ to maintain long run. And then for Mercedes....I'm not sure. What do you think?

35k service is for the DSG fluid change. That's why it's so pricey. Audicare would've been a smart bet as it includes that 35k service and several oil changes for less than the cost of the 35k service alone.

hey Eddie I am in the market for a S4 ideally I would like a b8.5 S4 like yours however I see quite the price difference between the b8 S4 and the B8.5 S4 for not too many differences. I have read about DSG issues with B8 S4 and some forums saying the problems are corrected with the B8.5 S4. I would just like your opinion if you feel as if the B8.5 S4 is worth the extra cost
