    Vacuuming my filters is a weekly task, along with cleaning. I have the 400S and 300S and they run continuously and have been for about 7 months. Its now telling me to replace the entire filter, so with heavy use, they last about 7 months

      The notification for replacement is not 100% accurate though. Just a rough guess of when you need to change, plus being on the very safe side so you frequently purchase more replacement filters.

      To be more specific, it simply records when you start the machine. Then slap a time period to that start date, such as 6 months run time. It completely disregards the city you live in and how polluted the air in your environment is, or how dirty your filter actually is.

      Actually the outside of the filter has something called a pre filter. Levoit sent out an email to everyone about 3 weeks ago stating you should vacuum the outside off (the pre filter) because it could cause ur fan speed to bog and burn ur purifier out. Now, this guy definitely needs a new filter 😂
      but maybe once a month vacuum off the outside. Once you hit the 4-6 month mark you are right, you should definitely replace it!

    Do I remove the thin “skin” around the new filter or does the machine filter thru the mesh?

    • @vg4902
      @vg4902 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Keep it on. The only thing you remove is the plastic wrapping. That fibre/mesh skin is a pre-filter for larger particles like dust and hair.

    Does vacuuming increase the filter life reading on the app?

    • @Ezerlance
      @Ezerlance ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that’s what I’d like to know.

    • @geluidsbox9195

      No it can't actually measure that status of your filter. It just does it by calculating the time that your device has been on. Once it's been on for ~6-8 months it will tell you to replace.
      You could for example simply hit the 'filter reset button' without actually replacing the filter, and it will tell you that the filter is back at 100% again.

    • @qwertyrewtywyterty
      @qwertyrewtywyterty ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@geluidsbox9195 thanks, I thought it have sensors to read the amount of air current, because dirty filters usually allow less air. So it's not that sophisticated then. I'm still gonna buy it, tho I won't be looking at the filter life

    • @rcbif101

      Vacuuming the filter is literally part of the maintenance in the manual...

  • @ragazzo3215
    @ragazzo3215 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You’re not suppose to reuse filters nor vacuum the old filter!! Hahahaha it goes to the bin! You need to buy a new filter every time, you need to replace it every 6 months also depending how often you use it.

    • @rcbif101
      @rcbif101 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Nope. Read the user manaul....literally says to vacuum the pre-cleaner (the outer part of the filter) every 2-4 weeks...

    • @ragazzo3215
      @ragazzo3215 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does not say to vacuum it …. Vacuuming it does not unblock all the dirt and particles from a filter - it says not recommended. Because it damages the filter in the long run.
      So I buy one when the red light goes off. My health is important.
      You probably reuse the paper bags from a vacuum cleaner! Haha
      🙄😂

    • @LyraReid
      @LyraReid 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It says to brush the dust off

    • @Taenebron
      @Taenebron 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You clean the pre-filter from time to time to get rid of any bigger particles and keep the HEPA and airflow in good condition. "Use a soft brush or
      vacuum hose" and "every 2-4 weeks".
      It is in 400S manual.
