    The 2 calves seem to be getter a darker brown coat as the grow. Some of it may be because of the shade in the video but they definitely looked darker. Glad to see you taking care of Eleanor, in the wild the less dominate probably have it pretty rough. Keep up the good work Dusty.

    Love understanding social stuff in the herds.
    Very important to know when dealing with animals.
    A couple questions:
    1. Are these mainly for 🥩 meat?
    2. Is fiber ever harvested from your animals?
    I’m a knitter always looking for different fibers.
    3. The skins.. do you process them also.
    Thanks so much.
    Blessings,
    Neesie

    • @CrossTimbersBison
      @CrossTimbersBison  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      1. Mainly meat yes. Breeding as well.
      2. I personally haven't done that. I know some people do that though.
      3. We would process the skin if we had any slaughtered, but my herd is a starter herd and won't be able to slaughter any for a while.
      Thank you Neesie!

    In the animal kingdom, the pecking order seems to be the way it works...wolves, coyote, lions, tigers, puma, bears...but, many people pay no attention to it. The settlers and hunters sure did.
    Man may have changed, but, in the wild, it stays the same.

    Flies seem to be a never ending issue for the bison. They are flicking their tails and flinching endlessly. Is there nothing you can do to stop the flies? I have used Rescue Fly Traps, which emits a horrible stench and draws flies into it and they drown in the liquid. Very effective fly killer. But those poor bison need help.
