Metal sounds amazing, but I like what they did with the Carbon Fiber

I agree with Greg. The metal had greater bite (or the good buzz) while the CF was a tad darker compared to the metal. That's not a bad thing, depending of what one is looking for, specially for the savings (almost half price on CF when compared to the metal). Also, it seems like projection is somewhat comparable, but it's hard to say when not present in the same room.
As always, thanks for the great comparison and great playing Johnny.

I thought that they were identical until you did the last side-by-side. The metal had a bit more bite than the carbon fiber. Nice comparison.

I thought the same thing, at least in the initial part in the higher register. Johnny still sounds amazing on both.

Hi Johnny, good video, and great comparison. What reed brand & strength are you using for the 8*?

Carbon fiber sounds very good...sounds more sweet.
Metal sounds a little bit more brillant, and may be, is better for other styll or music genre.

Johnny what are you thoughts CV when comparing the two? does one play Easier in the high register does one hit the low notes easier does one blow more difficult or you feel they're exactly the same?

Any difference in responsiveness in the fiber carbon? Would you say the higher ranges are as "meaty" and full as the original?

I have a Sakshama MB2 and it's fantastic, but doesn't look as pretty as the DG.
It doesn't make the horn quiet though.

Coffin Man how do you like it? Is it freeblowing or very resistant?

thanks for your thoughts guys. to buy it click the link in the description above.
as for the playing; it felt the same up high and altissimo but easier in the very bottom range. Some comments here that I also agree with... the metal is a bit brighter or projects more? That's not always the better thing, sometimes it helps to shave that back a bit. oh well, now I have both to choose from! Thanks for your comments so far guys.

I wonder if the lig position could have an effect, you had the rails on the reed on the metal, and the strap on the reed on the carbon fiber, could dampen the reed response a bit. Just a thought.

that would change it big time, but they are very different ligs and they are on they way they are meant to bhard to explain without pics but the one on the FC mp can't go on the other way cause there's no contact on the rails side just open space whereas the other one does.
