And welcome to a walk around an idyllic countryside village in the wonderful county of Oxfordshire: Dorchester on Thames. Today an absolutely wonderful place to explore and even live, Dorchester on Thames is full of history and beautiful sights! We talk much about the long history of Dorchester on Thames throughout this walk, but one thing we didn't mention was that the village, scenic as it is, has long been used as a filming location! Dorchester on Thames has appeared in a number of period dramas, including Howards End, as well as popular TV shows including Agatha Christie's Poirot, and of course Midsomer Murders :)
Really enjoyed this walk - especially since I used to live just up the road in Berinsfield in the late ‘70’s! Walked/biked through & around Dorchester many, many times. Fished & swam in the Thames there and I wonder is the House on Stilts still there? I believe a local architect designed & built it next to the river for his family to live in. Great video - thanks for the memories!!
Well, that's a bit odd. This is the second video I've watched today that mentions Pooh Sticks. Just watched someone else in Hartfield, which has a "Pooh Bridge". I must confess; I've never heard of 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 Dorchester. It seems like a pretty wee village but I bet the house prices reflect this. It's fairly unusual for a village to have two rivers but, with the similarity in spelling these two, it's almost worthy of a pub quiz qusetion.😁👍
