    "Because I'm hungry, I like it" sums up fast food nicely lol. The only nice thing about a chain restaurant is that you can go to any one of them in a country, and almost certainly know what the food is like unless they have a lot of regional variation. Never know what a random restaurant makes better and/or worse than a certain chain restaurant until you try everything.

      If our McDonalds here would be closed or renamed I wouldn't even notice it. I usually never go there, not only because it doesn't taste great, but it's expensive too! Here in Germany it's cheaper to buy a "Döner" (kebab), which makes you absolutely full for 5 euros.

      Fast food is usually all uniform at the bottom of the taste scale though and let's not get into the unhealthy aspect of it. Check out these kids in the video and everyone else in that place, they're skinny and these girls in the video would be anorexic by US standards even. 😆

      If you wanna find familiar fast-food chains where the food is different, come to my town. Keep in mind that I said "different"--not "good"! I live in a college town, and the college kids who work in the fast-food joints just don't give a damn. "Tasty, Period" only really works in American English. In the English used in other countries it would be "Tasty, Full Stop". Saying "Tasty Period" to an Australian makes it seem like you are saying something about a woman who is going through "that time of the month". Edit: apologies to my English speaking brethren, I had no idea 'full stop' was also used in the USA. I thought 'full stop' was only used where British English is spoken, i.e. Australia, UK, Canada and NZ. No one in Australia would say 'period' referring to a full stop but we all know that Americans often use that word with that meaning, and maybe Canadians too (I actually can't tell the Canadian accent apart, it just sounds North American to me, probably similar to how very few people can tell the Aussie and New Zealand accents apart unless you're from Aus or Nz).

    It's funny that she used the term "bootleg" to refer to the illegitimate McDonalds, a distinctly American term that is just the most perfect description for it.
    *Edit:* To be clear, Bootlegging did not used to mean copying something until cassette tapes and the internet. It was described to making a forbidden product, and in the U.S. the term was once associated with a government being ridiculous by banning alcohol, resulting in bootlegging alcohol. McDonalds has historical significance, because it was the end of such a ban in Russia, making the analogy pretty damn genius, even if it was unintentional.

    Thank you for the tour! Apologies for McDonald's in the first place, it's considered unhealthy (junk food) in the U.S.A. and in no way represents any good meal prepared in the U.S. Glad to see you've found a better place to eat afterwards too. The biggest puzzle for me is McDonald's colors were the same a the soviet flag, why not keep the red and yellow? Blessings be to the peaceful people of Russia, from U.S.

    • @tuxitalk1World
      @tuxitalk1World 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bobbrown1603 Except many malls do have empty spots. Our local mall lost a couple of their big anchor stores and then there are several major stores that left there as well. If you look on TH-cam there are many abandoned place explorers doing shopping malls. With internet sales there is really no need to shop in person. That is a big reason why many stores left the local mall. The mall is still a good place to exercise and eat but there are not many stores as in the heyday of malls.
      I live in SE PA about 35 MI. out of Philly and we had two malls that left: Granite Run Mall in Media, PA and The Gallery in Philly. Covid really didn't make as much of an impact as it did small businesses in the area. Businesses were already leaving our malls. The biggest mall that still does well is the King of Prussia Mall.

    @4:55 you are right about the cheeseburger. it is supposed to have 2 pickles. It is also supposed to have ketchup and mustard. It looks like there may be some mustard mixed with the ketchup.
    As I'm sure you know, the entire point of McDonald's is for every item to be made with exactly the same ingredients using exactly the same process every time. The only exceptions are once McDonald's globalized, some menu items were adjusted either due to cultural/religious restrictions or in order to adhere more closely to local flavors that populations are accustomed to.
    If Tasty Period is opening throughout the entire country, I wonder if they will adhere to the same goals of making each product be exactly the same regardless of the restaurant location. Will a Tasty Period burger be the same in Khabarovsk as it will be in St. Petersburg? These are the pressing questions facing Russian society today.
    I compared the prices with a fairly average McDonalds in a medium size town in the US. The prices you showed are slightly lower; however, when accounting for the average Russian income vs. the average US income, the Tasty Period prices are much higher. So that sucks. In the US, many people view McDonalds as cheap food that is eaten if you are very hungry and are in too much of a rush to eat "real" food. Whereas, the price of Tasty Period makes it seem like the food is more expensive but still of the same quality.

      From what I heard, many Americans are seriously impressed by the quality of food there compared to the American counterpart.
      The reason probably are stricter regulations by the government with regards to what can be sold as food as well as probably customers in Europe expecting a higher standard in general.
