I have a technical question i try to improve my strafing, i analysed pro runs in slow mow and i jsut dont understand where some of the speed comes from. Its almost like they have some technical advantage. So I came up with a few questions. 1. Does mouse acceleration matter? Is it good /bad neutal? 2. Does it matter if I hold the cursor center, look down or up while strafing? 3. Does dpi have an impact? high or low? 4. Is there anything else that can improve strafing?

My experience in game if I increase accel, turnings getting much more smooth and fast for speed running, good for RL weapon but bad for muscle memory at the same time. I think you have to find your own sweet spot what fits the best for you. Defrag requires hundreds hours of practice to become the best or good score. Not only some special config or advantage at all.
@@daedalus.. Thx but I am a seasoned strafer I do understand the mechanic. I would be interested in the optimal use of w-strafes. My questions are based on the fact that for isntance max fov size dramatically improves your routing and when I look at some pro runs it just looks like he knows something that I dont.
There is a technique called velocity snapping that does influence strafe efficiency, which was not made visualized until run's iodfe engine was out. Only iodfe and iDFe feature this hud currently. Check this thread for its theory: q3df.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=270 It's obvious in actual runs as well, as long as you are aware of it. If you strafe good enough to follow cgaz hud, you can see your acceleration isn't stable. It's not due to being noob or RNG, but is meant to be so. In this video, the run at 27:33 shows that x8 tends to strafe in some certain sections. There are 4 of these specific sections every 90 degrees. Most of the time, staying in these sections contributes more to your acceleration than strictly following cgaz hud. You can learn this technique from every strafe run by inder for he is the best snapper currently in the world.
