Thanks for being so informative about this whole process ^_^ please please please , I would love a video on shipping profiles and all that craziness.. it’s been difficult to research online about that particular topic
Aw thank you ^^ I actually have a video where I talk all about shipping on Etsy right here: th-cam.com/video/bzmCab8KlaA/w-d-xo.html I hope it helps :) If you have more questions though feel free to ask!
I did find another way to get around the shipping fiasco and still have calculated shipping and that’s to go into your shop and manager settings and go to shipping and create package preferences based on the size packages or envelopes you use, that way Etsy can automatically detect if the whole order can fit in one or multiple packages.
Hi thanks so much for your videos on Etsy. I've just reactivated my Etsy account but I'm a bit confuse about something you said about the listing fee. At the moment, I've one print listed and I pay Etsy 20cent plus Etsy tax to list that one print will I then have to pay an additional 20 cent for when that item sells? Thanks again for your time.
This is great, thank you! I watched your more detailed shipping video too. Is there a way around the multiple shipping profile issue? I sell two distinct categories of items: hats and soap. Hats obviously weigh way less than soap. But, I want to encourage people to pick up a bar of soap if they're stopping by for a hat without being penalized for those two items being in different shipping profiles. Is there a way around this issue?
Unfortunately there isn't 😔 which really sucks for people who sell multiple things. Maybe you could average the shipping price from both profiles to give a mid range price, then add a bit for the additional cost to encourage people to pick up a bar of soap as well without breaking the bank over a huge shipping price increase.
Amazing video! So informative thank you so much. I have a questions that’s not about shipping. I hope it’s okay for me to ask it here... did you get a business license before starting your Etsy shop? I’ve done a lot of research and it’s all contradicting.
I'm glad you found it helpful! No I didn't get a business license when I started because it was more of a side gig that I was doing :( I'm not sure if Katnipp has a video about that but she does a lot of informative vids about Etsy as well! I believe she MAY have talked about it in her finance and bookkeeping video but I'm not sure 🤔 sorry 😭
Thank you so much! I will definitely check out her videos to find more information. What I want to start is more of a hobby and that’s why I’ve been confused about the whole business license/permit side of things. Once again thank you so much for the fast response 😊
@@MT-qz5ke no worries! I wish I could help more! Katnipp actually runs it as a legal business on Etsy (that I know of) so maybe she has more info about it! I think it also depends on where you live and what standards the government has. I'm guessing it also has to do with how much you actually make annually too?
Hello, I’m a little confused on the shipping. Say if you were to write your own shipping labels, then wouldn’t the cost of shipping be inaccurate? The cost for shipping to your customers depends on where your customers are, right? So if you set the base shipping for a product at like $1, the cost of shipping within Canada or outside of Canada would be different, and it would cost more than $1 I’m assuming. Also, if you are writing your own shipping labels, then the process would be to write the address, add the stamp, and then ship it at your nearest postal office. If that’s the case, would you pay for shipping at the postal office? Normally if Etsy is taking care of your shipping, then the money your customers spend would go directly to the cost of shipping labels, but if you are writing your own shipping labels, it would be different right?
Hello 😊 when I say write the address, I don't mean write it on a shipping label (I don't actually use shipping labels). I write the address directly on the envelope and then pay the postage with stamps that I buy from the post office. Because my envelopes are within the criteria to be a lettermail, that's why I can use stamps. I don't know what it's called outside of Canada but I'm 100% sure there's an option to mail out your letters by stamps. Just gotta do some digging on the site 😂 If you buy shipping labels on Etsy, yes the money the customer paid for shipping will go to you. I'll be making one last video on Etsy shipping soon so if you're interested, consider subscribing 😉
@@DoodlesnTea Thank you! Also, would you need different types of stamps for shipping to USA, within Canada, and internationally? Or would it be all the same types of stamps?
Hi im a bit confused about listings. I know the 20cent listing fee is per item. However, If I have one listing but with multiple quantities, if after four months when the listing expires and lets say some items dont sell, would I have to pay the 20 cents per item not sold? So if there are 5 items that dont sell, at the end of four months, would I pay (20cents x 5) $1 to relist all my items or is it the same 20 cent renewal fee?
Great question! If you have 5 items that don't sell by the end of the four months, you only have to pay 20cents for the renewal fee. The renewal fee is for the LISTING OVERALL, not items in the listing. However everytime you sell an item, Etsy has to renew to the whole listing (don't know why, just how they work..). By doing so they bump your listing up in search. That's why some people recommend renewing your listings once in a while because it helps you rank higher in search. Etsy will renew every listing that has an item sold. So if you sell an item from 5 different/the same listing(s), Etsy will charge $1 for listing fees (0.20*5).
do you respond to private messages? I'm from Canada too and its so hard to find other sellers from Canada! I would love to get in tough with you and ask you all my questions...i'm so lost :(

Hi.😊 I have a question. First, your videos are very helpful thank you so much. I have an Etsy shop as well and I sell stickers too but I’m so lost on the shipping part. For some reason for the international shipping label the cost for shipping goes up to $13 to send a letter which is really high. I put the right measurements and weight but it always says $13 for international shipping.🥺 Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I believe Etsy follows the cost of your local post office with its shipping labels. I mail my orders out using just stamps and it's a lot cheaper.
