Hi! I’m Xiaoling!
I'm a nomadic artist who uses my phone to create digital art using Procreate Pocket (Procreate for the iPhone) and when I find a place to rest for a bit, I love painting with watercolor.

This video goes through all of my pieces for the event, “100 Days of Wonder”, hosted by D. Michele Perry
I chose to participate in this because I wanted to:
✨ improve my digital drawing skills
✨ look forward to seeing what I create
✨ possibly find “my style”
✨ and make more friends on this creative journey :)
And after finishing, at the end of July, I have definitely improved! How could I not?
I’m very happy with most of my creations and I’m most proud of my consistency and not giving up no matter how far behind everyone else I was
I don’t think I found a style but I did have a color palette I used on Procreate Pocket to keep pieces looking like a series and for watercolor, I have a limited palette but I would often mix colors.
I didn’t make a ton of friends because I started with digital art and everyone else seemed to do watercolor and while I followed a lot of people, not a lot of other people seemed interested in my digital artwork. Not a complaint, just an observation
But I’d say the one really supportive and lovely new friend was Christy, @ christysheeler.artist on Instagram 🙂

Some other notes/comments I didn’t add in the video because I did the voiceover in the hour and a half I had before work before I had to pack up and move again, so I was quite tight on time.
I definitely believe that done is better than perfect.
I started this project February 20th in Arizona while I was camping and I used Procreate Pocket, Procreate for the iPhone and I have a few videos on how to use it :)
Day 1: Forest - I know that 85 degrees in Arizona isn’t hot haha but I don’t enjoy the heat and that felt really hot to me, especially after hiking, so I drew that cold scene
Day 3: Lantern - I said “he” because I felt like this panda was male but in all the other pieces, the panda is female. I am the panda 😂
And the brown bear represents my boyfriend 🐻💕
Day 6: Chamomile - The painting in the background is of a watercolor I’ve done and shared on TH-cam 🌴 🌊
Day 19 wasn’t Love, it was flow lol
I thought an animation was perfect for this prompt and I ended up writing in script “Love” and so in my voiceover, I just said it was Love but it was actually “Flow” which still fits
Weeks:
I switched to watercolor when I moved to Massachusetts in April and I finished the project there because I had a desk to paint on (before I was camping and using my phone to draw)
Week 6: Wait for the end to hear my thoughts on not liking my work :)
Week 8: I should have said “The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams” a television series from the 1970s but we just call it Grizzly Adams. I love Ben (the bear) haha
Week 12: After finishing week 11 and only really liking the bear paintings, I decided to paint only bears for week 12 and until the end
Some of these are based on real life inspiration, and I’ve usually included the photo or video but the rest are from my own idea and vision.
I’d google “monarch butterfly” or “carousel” but they’re all drawn from my own mind of a reference photo in the corner
Lastly, I didn’t do them all day by day as the project title suggests but I was consistent and I finished and that’s what mattered to me
In the end, I would paint one small part each night and by the end of the week, I had all 7 paintings done but I didn’t do it prompt by prompt
And I think that’s that haha
