The SHOCKING Reason Mary Queen Of Scots Was EXECUTED By Elizabeth I

  • The relationship between Mary Queen of Scots and the Tudor English monarch Elizabeth I has been studied and considered for centuries. What cannot be disputed though is that during Elizabeth;s reign, she faced a large number of plots and threats to her throne, and many Catholics wanted her dead and replaced with Mary Queen of Scots. The Protestant English monarch was a target for many people, including the Spanish and she employed a network of Spies led by Francis Walsingham to find out intelligence and information of potential plots. Earlier in her reign she faced the Rudolf Plot, a European plan to get rid of her, and she also faced the Throckmorton Plot but both of these had the same goal, to replace her with Mary Queen of Scots and to also bring Catholicism back as England’s religion. But there was one plot that was discovered that brought about the death and execution of Mary Queen of Scots, and Elizabeth I was forced to sign the death warrant of another anointed Queen. But what was the story behind the plot that resulted in Mary Queen of Scots’ execution at Fortheringhay Castle?

Poor Mary Queen of Scots, never had a day of happiness in her life. Three failed marriages, ungrateful son and betrayal by cousin. Imprisoned for two decades before being beheaded. May her soul rest in peace.

Adulterous, murdering, scheming(against the TRUE Queen of England and RIGHTFUL sovereign) Mary was justifiably executed after being given every chance by Elizabeth. And,by the way,if you bother to research the FACTS,you will discover that Mary actually had a very privileged upbringing at the French court. She DID have happiness in her life,as,unlike Elizabeth she didn't have to fight to keep herself alive.ADULTEROUS,MURDERER and SCHEMER.Elizabeth gave her every chance for YEARS,but in the end she had no choice,as Mary persisted in her treasonable behaviour and plots.

I feel like Mary has been romanticized a lot as a tragic figure, when the reason why she died was because she was an arrogant little girl who wanted too much and that in the end gained nothing.
She cared more about England than she cared about her own country and challenged Elisabeth so many times, when her so hated cousin was just trying to help her.
Elisabeth suggested Mary to marry lord Robert Dudley but Mary refused to listen.
When Elisabeth I was crowned as Queen of England,in 1559 (the following year) Mary proclaimed herself as the rightful queen of England, when she was already Queen of Scotland.
Nothing to feel bad about, plus she was a Queen only by name, she ruled with her heart and emotions and not with logic or reason.

With all that intrigue and plotting it must have been a terable situation for Mary Queen of Scots. I have always thought she was a little naive, almost an innocent amongst serpents. She was loved by her servants but her life was lonely and so tragic. Between religious conflict and gainers of power, it truly was a difficult road she walked. Mary Stuart came to England seeking the protection of Queen Elizabeth. She was treated as a Queen, but placed into Custody - the meaning back then being the equivalent of "Police Protection" today. And like that it would seem like prison to her. She simply had to wait and if Elizabeth had died from natural causes Mary would have become Queen. Nobody knew how long Queen Elizabeth would live. After all Elizabeth had been through getting the throne, she simply didn't care who got the throne after her as long as someone didn't kill her to do it. Of course everyone else in the court was concerned about who got the throne and so the power games continued.

Sorry but again I think you’re coming at this from the wrong angle. It wasn’t that if Elizabeth died she would become Queen (yes she would) but that every Catholic in England considered Mary the true rightful legitimate Queen of England. They considered Elizabeth an usurper, the bastard child of a whore. Mary wasn’t in police protection. She was imprisoned to stop her gathering enough followers to remove Elizabeth. Make no mistake, Mary would have done the same to Elizabeth in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed. She spent her life plotting to over throw Elizabeth.

@@laurencenorman You are just not dealing in historical facts. Mary asked Elizabeth for protection. The Scots were intending to kill her. Mary was never imprisoned in England. She was treated as though she was a Royal personage. But wasn't allowed to roam freely. Mary wanted Elizabeth to provide her with an army to invade Scotland. Elizabeth would have only agreed to that if Mary proved her innocence in the murder of her husband. A special commission was formed to investigate that. But Mary ended it (according to Cecil) before any conclusion could be drawn. Mary was in danger from the English people as well as the Scots. Protestants of both sides would have seen her dead, the Scots and The French would then have blamed Elizabeth if that happened. Mary could have escaped to France. But it's likely the French Queen would have killed her. Things had not gone down that well before she left for Scotland. Mary Stuart used religion like she used everyone else. A trait we call today a psychopathic nature. She married Bothewell a protestant who already had a wife. She intended to marry the Duke of Norfolk another protestant, who told her that, and she said she would "change her religion" to marry him. She was the type of woman that was all over any man if it suited her schemes. The Queen had to arrange the George Talbot known for his loyalty to the Queen and the fact that his marriage to Bess was a love match not just the standard property deal of most marriages back then to take "Custody" of her. Knowing he was impervious to Mary's charm. As for the roles being reversed. That could never happen to Elizabeth. She was a true Queen and acted like one. For one thing to get any kind of recognition from Elizabeth you had to do something special. Queen Elizabeth 2 gave out in one year more titles than Elizabeth did in entire reign.

I wonder what would have happened had it been revealed that the forged the letters were just that, and Mary and Elizabeth ended up becoming co-rulers? Like many secret service things there are idiots doing things. Like when Babbington came asking Walsingham for a passport, only to be told that he was out to launch! Not so much tricked into signing it, but having it sent off. She signed the warrant in an attempt to stop conspires using Mary as the excuse to kill her. In other words if anyone tries anything she will die. For the warrant to be effective it had to have the Great Seal attached. So she could have that authorised if anyone did anymore plots. But Walsingham was ill that day she signed it, and the man in charge while he was ill sent the warrant off to have the seal attached without asking the Queen. She played bloody hell with him and he went to William Cecil who put together the Privy Council in a special meeting. They agreed to send it off. Cecil said they could do so under the law mentioned in the video, without telling the Queen.

You asked the right question. The problem was that she had resigned from the Scottish Throne and so that made her no longer Queen. But in Elizabeth's eyes she didn't accept the resignation - largely because of the way it was done - and thus treated her as Queen. But at her trial, where she REFUSED legal representation - considering herself a Queen - she was declared by the judges a "private person" not a Queen. At her trail she denied even knowing Babbington, then showed her letters - "of course I knew him, why wouldn't I write to him in my circumstances".

Lot of rubbish being spouted here. While Queen she was Queen Mary. Nothing to do with their being too many Mary’s around. The name before means she was no longer the reigning monarch. James her son was. Same as our current Queen is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Her mother was Queen Elizabeth even when her daughter was crowned because she was married to King George VI. On his death she became dowager Queen Elizabeth, dowager meaning widow of. Look at the famous photo taken at George VI’s funeral now called 3 Queens in mourning. It depicts our Current Queen Elizabeth, now Queen because her father the King was dead, her mother Queen Elizabeth (his wife) and her grandmother Queen Mary, her grandmother/his mother. All still Queens. The name before the title means the person is divorced. While married Princess Diana was ‘THE PRINCESS OF WALES,’ donating she was married to the Prince of Wales. Only after their divorce did she become Dianna, Princess of Wales. Camilla is to all effects now the Princess of Wales. She is married to The Prince of Wales but at her wedding asked to be known by another of Charles’s titles, Duchess of Cornwall. He is also the Duke of Cornwall. They considered the public would be outraged if she used Princess of Wales so soon after Diana’s death. The current wife has the title. An ex has the name before. Princess Margret was, like her sister the Queen, a daughter of a ruling monarch hence her title of Princess in her own right. Her husband was Lord Snowden so another of her titles was Countess of Snowden. When they divorced she became Margret, countess of Snowden because her ex married again so there is another current wife who is now The countess if Snowden. Princess is a far superior title so she preferred to continue as Princess Margret. Margret Duchess of Argyle, tells you she was divorced and someone else was the Duchess of Argyle. Long winded but hope this clears it up.

I said on the last video of Elizabeth her real cause of death and guilt over Mary of Scots was mentioned yes I think that is entirely possible. Because as I said I have read that Elizabeth never actually signed the warrant authorizing this execution(murder) her secretary supposedly did it this behind Elizabeth's back literally as she was turning going out of the room her secretary was either given the paper or took it and signed it with Elizabeth's name! And stupidly when I heard Elizabeth's Secretary did it! I was thinking woman but it could have been a man men can be secretaries and both these women were surrounded by men and they were made enemies by the ones around them! And in the same way that Elizabeth did not herself sign that death warrant I also believe that when or if Mary Queen of Scots even signed that law that said if Elizabeth were ever to be kiled she too was to be executed! If she even signed it I do not believe she fully knew what she was signing and that she was basically signing her own death warrant that meant if she were ever named in a plot to assisinate Elizabeth she woud be killed and I do not believe she ever intended to harm Elizabeth but to protect her own life! She like so many women back then was a pawn in the games of power hungry men behind the scenes wventhough they were Queens they still fell prey to these men! The same happened to Queen Elizabeth the 1st and her sister Queen Mary they were made enemies by their own father Henry good ole Henry the 8th! the big ole pain in the A..! But thats just my take on it Mary was so angry at her father that she focused it on Elizabeth who was a kid when all that was happening . I also think Mary Queen of Scots was so desperate after being imprisoned so long she didnot understand what she was doing I don't reallly believe she wanted Elizabeth dead anymore than Elizabeth wanted her dead ! It was easy for these women to be used because they had grown up around men and were taken from their mothers at young ages Elizabeth by murder and Mar y Queen of Scotts when she became Queen at a very young age after her father died I believe her mother sent her away for her own safety amd they too never saw each other again ? its kinda sad Mary Queen of Scotsbecame Queen at 6 dys old when her daddy died suddenly and then sometime after her mother sends her away to France to keep her safe but she still ended up dead eventually at the hand s of the country she was originally being protected from
