@@hamilton9479 It's still there as far as I know. But it's a bad idea to use the sphinx entrance. The main entrance is right by the police station, so the pickpockets avoid it. You still often get random guys asking for your ticket once you go through the scanners though, pretending to be guides. They're just locals who climbed over the wall in the morning or walked in from the other side. If you walk down the alley on the right side of the sphinx entrance, you can just hop over the wall with the locals. They find it hilarious when foreigners do shit like that.

Actually, I think climbing or sitting on a pyramid is worse than taking a piece of debris. It's not like they'd have glued a little chipped-off piece back on if you hadn't taken it. But standing on or climbing it can do more damage.

The one thing they don’t show in this re the museum. It’s an amazing museum but heaven help you if you need the toilet 😂😂 Get ready for a guy at the door selling you individual pieces of toilet paper. Never in my life have I had to estimate how many pieces I will need so I could agree a price. Honestly Egypt has such beautiful history to learn about, it’s just a shame you have to deal with Egyptians. Not even gonna go in to the poisons in the paint of the little statues they’ll try to sell you. If you don’t believe me and you’re going, then just look for yourself how many people are selling things but they hold them through plastic to avoid skin contact. Dangerous place to go if you don’t do your research

Egypt is a pretty dangerous place for "western" tourists, it's a manageable risk but when I went we were in a bus convoy with a huge amount of military security - there's been a lot of pretty major mass killings of tourists over the years - that was before the Arab Spring too, it's almost certainly got worse in terms of potential risk since. One of those places it's worth educating yourself on before going.

I remember when we were pestered like this in Turkey, literally every shop we walked past they are trying to drag you in. We got so pissed off we just said no, the moment any of them tried to talk to us. Us British can be petty about this sort of thing, if a store owner won't take no for an answer we will literally walk into the next shop along to the owner who wasnt bothering us, then, buy something we don't want and then throw it in the rubbish bin in full view of the guy next door trying to get us to go in his store just to spite him. Then say to him "see that I bought from this guy just because he left us alone and I didn't even need these flip flops."

We were told to leave so we did, funny thing is so did several other tables.

On my visit to Egypt and the Pyramids i was told that they were in the middle of the desert. But with now over 20 million people in Cairo the city had to grow to accomodate them. Well allowed to have 4 wives and breed like rabbits?what do you expect. Also the place os full of history but stinks, vist yes live there never . Half the country has moved on bit the other half still live as nomads. Seen a taxi rank with Mercedes Mercedes Camel Mercedes Mercedes Camel. So it gradually got nearer the pyramids and the Sphynx. Looking away from the city you them and then just sand. Look the other way and you see Macdonalds and Cairo. It wont be long before the pyramids are in the middle of the city. Shame

    " it's old, I don't wanna break it".
The WHOLE point of the pyramids is that they are so old and so INDESTRUCTIBLE

What do you do when you aren’t impressed by the so called wonders and don’t get culture shock stuff is just normal. Swimming with dolphins is just so so and being up the Empire State Building is just okay.

I find it hilarious that with the KFC run by deaf people he's all like "why not?". But some really basic concepts he can't apply the same thinking.

My first phone was a Nokia 3210, when I started high school in 2001, I've also had a blackberry which at the time was a good phone, anyone in the comments remember the Nokia ngage that was awesome for the time with the games you could get for it

Guys Michael Palin is as synonymous here for his travel documentaries nowadays as he is with Python. Been doing them since 1987. Hence Karl, Ricky & Steve constantly referring to him in this and the Ricky Gervais Show. I think you'd enjoy his shows. They're like a slightly more serious and less farcical template for this show, and a direct influence. Peace from Ireland!

When it comes to museums I'm the same as you, King Boomer. I want to walk around and take it all in, rather than have one of those tours, with someone taking you from exhibit to exhibit, flappin their gums all the time 😆

There are no croc's on the nile where they do the nile cruise, it's Croc free up to the aswan dam from the Mediterranean. I would recommend a nile cruise its such a great experience.
