These videos don't do their live performance any justice whatsoever. They have one of the strongest live electronic performances I've ever seen. And I'm constantly surprised by great producers with lacking live sets i.e. Lapalux at Moogfest this year. Boy was on the STRUGGLE bus lol
Very, very few vocalists are perfect live. Building consistency is a function of performing many many shows. She's still very young and Purity Ring is still a very new band. She's actually a very talented singer.
do you think they have a particular life style. such as the feeling you get from their music and acctually live it. just such sweet people. so much peace
bout to get the album..been randomly listening to them here nd there...nd i remember hearing fineshrine during soundcheck at a show nd i didnt know which song it was...sick tho..im liking them alot
I love her singing on the album. Live, not so much, but she'll probably get better with practice. The stuff they're doing with the lights looks really neat though. I'd love to witness that in person.
I didn't mean it in a perjorative sense, for the last few years there's been a revival of the 80s sound and aesthetic in indie music (which is now extending to mainstream music, too). You know, that synthpop sound, and those squealy vocals (also lots of bands are releasing their albums on cassette tape format these days). But it's not just imitation, it's more of a renewal of that style.
The guy in Purity Ring is just like Ernie in My Three Sons. I bet he was beat up a lot as a child. He withdrew to his computer. And makes some very good music!
i do love the lp, same sound thru out, i cant understand shit she is saying but i like that, for example grimes, i guess they went to the tori amos school of singing, which i love,
Well they do change her voice constantly through out the performance. Talented, but its got to be tough to sing through all of that. I'll just take it for what it is. A great sound.
Megan James has a really amazing voice, one of a kind, reminds me alot of Bjork. One of my favourite groups now. Just one thing though, when they play live Corin Roddick shouldn't mess about too much with the singing, sometimes it sounds a bit like a stuck record, should try and have it like it is on the records.
It's the exact opposite of Grizzly Bear at Colbchella - GB are incredible live because they are able to flawlessly play stuff that sounds like it took 20 takes in the studio to get right, but the visual aspect is really lacking. PR are a bit clumsy live but they're actually trying to give us something to look at, which is admirable.
This is bullshit. Most comments on here mention that live they are worse. Glitch is definitely part of their sound and one of the main reasons I fell in love with them, but on the record it's synced and pitched and it sounds fucking great. Here is he is just putting a snippet of voice through beat repeat and it sounds shit - it doesn't fit with the performance.
I didn't think you meant it in a perjorative sense, I just don't see much 80s there. The first time electronic music gained popularity was in the 80s, so I guess that's why the comparison gets made, but other than the basic fact that synthesizers are being used, I don't see it. Who in the 80s do you think they sound like?
You guys have no idea how hard it is to perfect your voice live espeically in this electronic style, listen to lots of other artists live, peoples voices are fine tuned and perfected on the record. Plus fuck you if you are commenting on how she looks. Music is music. If people choose music on looks no wonder why so much music is shit house.
theres a rapper who does a remix of fineshrine! its a must see!!!!! he needs to go live with her! message me for the video!!! please! ASAP if you want to know! :D
"And anyways, people who complain about fads are always much more unbearable than the fads themselves." That is so extremely untrue. You yourself complained about metalheeds and rockers. Plus who didn't hate emo's? C'mon...
Beautiful music - always makes me think of the beloved pet we lost to cancer. Dunno why. Cry every time I hear Fineshrine.
Fineshrine gave me goosebumps
djuforeo I've heard the song at least 20 times, chills everytime
These videos don't do their live performance any justice whatsoever. They have one of the strongest live electronic performances I've ever seen. And I'm constantly surprised by great producers with lacking live sets i.e. Lapalux at Moogfest this year. Boy was on the STRUGGLE bus lol
They are so amazing... Amazing artists and people.
Very, very few vocalists are perfect live. Building consistency is a function of performing many many shows. She's still very young and Purity Ring is still a very new band. She's actually a very talented singer.
By the halfway point she seemed to realize she was a bit sharp & fixed it.
I still cant listen to this entire song without totally crumbling to pieces at "youd make a fine shrine out of me". I miss her so much.
The Vogue theater show last month blew everyone away.. They're live performance is just getting better and better.
The Future; July 2022: their performance in Phoenix AZ was amazing too
That intro didn’t age well lmaaaao
bruhhhhh
what happened
@@XxXAmkataRXxX Turns out R. Kelly is a terrible person, so he's cancelled.
neither will you
I think its already known at that time lol
anybody still cry to this song?
3:43 - 4:04 sounds so sick
It's actually a part of a song of there's name "Grandloves"
sounds sick
Just saw them last night, it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. All live. Absolutely incredible.
looks like they do an awesome live show. i love the lighting integrating with the music. amazing.
Am I the only one who thinks the stage design is very well done and fits the music perfectly?
This band effing rocks, love it. Love the ambient feel.
She has a beautiful voice.
god do I love this these two - it's more like pure genius
I love her hair so much.
She reminds me of Mary Louise Parker in Weeds specifically I love it!💙
Lovvvvvve!!! These 2 are such magical and talented people...
Big fan long time....never thought to see live....absolutely totally impressed!!....wow!
this gives me massive chills, I want to see them now

do you think they have a particular life style. such as the feeling you get from their music and acctually live it. just such sweet people. so much peace
Best single of the year so far. Amazing.
bout to get the album..been randomly listening to them here nd there...nd i remember hearing fineshrine during soundcheck at a show nd i didnt know which song it was...sick tho..im liking them alot
Another love the band's first album. See Turn on the Bright Lights.
I was at their last show in Vancouver and the vocals didn't sound like this. It's still an amazing show.
Interesting to hear a more raw version of the song. It still bangs.
I was there. People in the back were definitely going nuts.
This was a fun show, wish it was longer!
God. I really wish I had seen them when they came through Atlanta.
i love purity ring
every live music i've ever heard sounds better recorded , so what
You should listen to better bands, then. Most bands I like are at least equal live, most times better.
This looks so fucking rad, I don't know why anyone is thinkin that it's lame lol
Hey it's Maycie! :) I love that I see ur comment on this hehehehehe
SO UNDERRATED AND SO GOOD I AM SO MAD
This was a good video...I have respect that they can pull off a creative concert with so little.
fuck i need to see them live before i die
I saw them live on the 4th November. Couldnt agree more on the statement :D
Andi Baumgarten luckkkky
They canceled a show on me......
6:51 shut up i not ended yet lol
AMAZING!!!!
I'm in love with Purity Ring
The live version sounds even better than the studio one, love them
I love her singing on the album. Live, not so much, but she'll probably get better with practice. The stuff they're doing with the lights looks really neat though. I'd love to witness that in person.
she did get better!
Not a concert, it's an art performance.
this was awesome at Pitchfork Music Festival; and they performed at night
I LOVE PURITY RING AND ARE USING THEM IN MY MTB EDITS
They dope AF
why just stand there. go ham. this song is so goooood
I'm so in love
i guess its always like that in nyc, when i went to the bjork concert biophilia, people were just in a trance.
I love them so much

This is so awesome. I need to see purity ring now haha
i love how the singer somewhat looks and sounds like a cute child, it goes well with the music
The guy in Purity Ring is just like Ernie in My Three Sons. I bet he was beat up a lot as a child. He withdrew to his computer. And makes some very good music!
Saw them 2 nights ago, fucking incredible show.
i do love the lp, same sound thru out, i cant understand shit she is saying but i like that, for example grimes, i guess they went to the tori amos school of singing, which i love,
I bump the FUCK out of fineshrine all the time, that song is beautiful
Hrmm. I actually dig the live show they got goin on.
Gonna go see them tomorrow at Webster Hall!
how was it?
wow. really cool, creative live show.
Well they do change her voice constantly through out the performance. Talented, but its got to be tough to sing through all of that. I'll just take it for what it is. A great sound.
Now that's a good performance
Gorgeous.
Wait, Purity Ring has ties to Halifax 😳
Megan James has a really amazing voice, one of a kind, reminds me alot of Bjork.
One of my favourite groups now. Just one thing though, when they play live Corin Roddick shouldn't mess about too much with the singing, sometimes it sounds a bit like a stuck record, should try and have it like it is on the records.
I'm sure Purity Ring is used to it by now, but it makes cringe hard every time I see them live and people cheer during the second break in Fineshrine.
lmao ikr? everyone think it's the end of the song :D
That moment you think the songs over.
THAT GUY IS PLAYING LAMPS.
2:55 i'm dying here 1000 deaths.
beautiful
so perfect omg
This band is amazing. I like all genres, and they are tops in the techno world.
It's the exact opposite of Grizzly Bear at Colbchella - GB are incredible live because they are able to flawlessly play stuff that sounds like it took 20 takes in the studio to get right, but the visual aspect is really lacking. Come to Brazil
Fucking awesome, they look like the put on a great live show! :)
Megan is so beautiful and sweet!!!
Did you guys tape the whole show or just this song??
girl 0:35 doing that with her shoulder I felt in love with her
I didn't think you meant it in a perjorative sense, I just don't see much 80s there. The first time electronic music gained popularity was in the 80s, so I guess that's why the comparison gets made, but other than the basic fact that synthesizers are being used, I don't see it.
Who in the 80s do you think they sound like?
The molly must be really good in Canada HAHAHA
You guys have no idea how hard it is to perfect your voice live espeically in this electronic style, listen to lots of other artists live, peoples voices are fine tuned and perfected on the record. Plus fuck you if you are commenting on how she looks. Music is music. If people choose music on looks no wonder why so much music is shit house.
it works
YES YES YES
holy shit she looks like shes straight from the 80s haha. awesome.
how do his drums works? I'm just confused by all the lights he's hitting... hopefully im not just being dumb
when he hits them, lights and sounds trigger. the colors and sounds depend on the track being performed
Ramona Flowers
Do they randomly take turns wearing glassses? lol
Why would I do that? The music is awesome.
theres a rapper who does a remix of fineshrine! its a must see!!!!! he needs to go live with her! message me for the video!!! please! ASAP if you want to know! :D

We can only hope Hank!
Vogue pose at :35 lol
"And anyways, people who complain about fads are always much more unbearable than the fads themselves."
That is so extremely untrue. You yourself complained about metalheeds and rockers. Plus who didn't hate emo's? C'mon...
where am I...
It's "Obedear" by your's truly.
