Thanks for this update. I want to use cordless tool batteries as well (not Kobalt - not available in my country) but I read conflicting reports of various brands that was used in e-bikes that fail (destroyed) very quickly because of voltage/balancing of the cells. Any advice please?
my current battery is 13s8p, and i was thinking the exact same thing as what youre doing by adding 1s8p pack, but many others are saying its a bad idea and could be dangerous, but i see you are successful with doing the same thing
One advantage to using tool packs is genuine cells, to the extent some fancier packs use brand name power cells (e.g. Samsung, LG, Murata). Another is that if you live in an isolated rural area, tool packs may be the only way to buy such cells in your town, scam pricing aside.
...maybe the batteries just don't deliver more current through the bms together than alone? and then they'll just last 5 times as long as the same rate of energy use, and probably take 5 times as long to charge
Looking forward to the Nissan Leaf battery pack for your e-bike. Thanks for making these videos!
Always learning something interesting here 👍🏼
Thanks for taking the time to make your videos. They give me ideas as to what I can make myself, which I find is better than just buying stuff.
The balance is always time cost vs. money cost, but that actually only matters if you're declining paid work to fart around with your ebike...
I'm excited for the next video.
Just started watching, loved your Scotty Kilmer reference! Haha
Great vid as always
Great video 👍
Looks like mad scientists bike

i think the problem with that is probably gonna be that the new batteries aren't gonna be matched with the old batteries
Awesome 😎

I wish you could get some of the Tesla big 4680 cells.
will the stock Bms really take the extra load?
does this mean the bms was dumb, no current protection.

Are you Elmer Fudd? Badderwee.
