    Hey everyone! I can’t thank you all enough for the great comments. Really appreciate it. You’ll notice a big difference when we switch back to the LAV mic from the shotgun mic. We used the shotgun to illustrate the noise reduction a bit, but as with any room (this was especially true on our old space) you’ll hear a lot of the room with that shotgun, no matter how we set the polar pattern. Seeing some interesting “garage” comments. My question: Is it still a garage if it has carpet pad, carpet, drywall, interior insulation, a kitchen, bathroom, loving space, and thousands in acoustic treatments? Maybe just because there is a garage style door somewhere hidden behind curtains - like a picture window? Curious to know what you think. Let me know with a reply. And thanks again! ❤😊

      Who cares if it’s a garage or not, so long the space works, provides all that you need and hey, also has a much easier access for deliveries of bigger items using that big garage door? No. I think the new studio looks awesome and will definitely uplift the channel and content overall to new highs.

    Congrats on the very deserved new digs, Caleb and DT Team! Looks like everything came together brilliantly. I'm sure you'll discover new tweaks and mods over time, but it has to be a huge relief just to be at this point. I'm looking forward to all the side-by-side TV comparisons this will accommodate as well as sound bar reviews. BDI appears to manufacture some sweet AV kit, so thanks for giving them a shout out. That's advertising you can't put a price on. I'd say about 1 million people just heard of them, many for the first time (myself included). I'm really looking forward to everything your new space brings! EDIT: omg, BDI and DT are both getting out of the living room and into the bedroom! HAWT! 🤣😋🥵

    I've had a lift-top coffee table for a long time. Not one this nice, but it's real food (not the fake stuff) and is also on wheels so it's easy to move and position where I need it. I never used to think something like that was necessary but after using it I refuse to use anything else. If I ever replace it I'll for sure get another lift-top one.

    I've shot an interview in an anechoic chamber and let me tell you, it was the strangest video I've ever edited. You don't realize that voices NEED reverb to sound alive like you said. But hearing 0 reverb on his voice through a shotgun mic was trippy to listen to because my brain felt like it wasn't right. I was watching this guy speak, but my brain couldn't correctly process how it sounded because of the lack of reverb. It sounded really cool in the end, but I'll always remember that because the voice sounded TOO good and I had to add some reverb in post because it was throwing everyone off.

    • @scottboettcher1344
      @scottboettcher1344 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn't a shotgun mic DESIGNED to reject most reflections/reverbs from the sides, and only "hear" the source it is pointed at?
      I worked in a radar test facility here at Hill AFB that had radar-absorbing material cones (very similar to the anechoic cones) covering the walls BUT the floor and ceiling were dead-flat, polished copper and that room (ten stories high) had the oddest acoustics I've ever heard; a single handclap would echo for ten seconds or so, but didn't really fade into a reverb much at all. The sound just bounced up and down.

    • @CinemaSteve
      @CinemaSteve ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scottboettcher1344 it is, and like you said it’ll do most but not all. Any little bit of reverb in a voice makes it sound natural and I didn’t know that until I did that interview where there was nothing and my brain was tripped out haha. I use a Sennheiser MKH416 which was the industry standard for years and years, and even that doesn’t reject everything.

    • @doublet147
      @doublet147 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having spent time in multiple anechoic chambers, I must say, if you spend long periods of time in them, it will affect you mentally. Not in a positive manner, lol. 😵‍💫. Our hearing is not trained/prepared for it.

    • @CinemaSteve
      @CinemaSteve ปีที่แล้ว

    • @doublet147
      @doublet147 ปีที่แล้ว

      @CinemaSteve it can be quite unnerving. You think it might be relaxing because of a "lack of sound," but it is not! Lol

    Awesome looking new studio Caleb! I can't wait to see new reviews from it . . . Including a more in depth detailed review of the Nakamichi Dragon. I recently ordered a Dragon & purchased a 85" Samsung QN90B to go with it. I'd like to see how the Dolby Atmos effects are in the main studio with its' high ceiling, compared to your loft with its' lower ceilings. I'd also like to see more detail about the sound quality from the Dragon when used for listening to music. Thanks for all you do & keep up the great work!

    Revisiting this video, and the view of the main floor listening area gives me pause for a couple of thoughts:
    Due to the very high ceiling and its acoustic treatment with hanging clouds to mitigate slap echo, I’m thinking you’ll not get the best performance from the Nak Dragon, or any “Atmos certified” speaker system that relies on ceiling reflection to create the overhead sound objects. Such systems would very likely give much experience in the small loft area.
    Speaking of which, perhaps a motorized roller type heavy curtain, or set of bifold closet door panels in the open space above the pony wall behind the computer workstation would help to balance the acoustics.
    I’ve treated roll up garage doors with thin layers of fabric covered rock wool for both heat and acoustic insulation.
    And, finally, that vintage Dynaco audio gear on static display deserves more love by serving at least occasional play time with the as yet unidentified vinyl spinner sitting on the bottom shelf.
    You asked for comments, so 😂

    Cool new space, yes room acoustics is very important for speakers! Also reducing the noise level in your room is the best investment you can make to improve the sound. Finally on close up the BDI doors in your front cabin are not aligned, and your coffee table might be good for convenience but horrible for sound reflection!

    This is so exciting!! Everything looks great!! I love the shelving for the A-Roll with all the great vintage stuff and the vinyl!!! Also love the furnishings, puhrticularly (spelling intentional 🤣) the rising coffee table! The wooden slats look really cool. You (and your team?) have great taste. I am SOO relieved that you didn’t go too dead with the sound - so much better than the echo chamber. It sounds mostly good, but when you moved to different spots, the sound was sometimes not quite as good, puhrticularly when sitting on the floor cross-legged in front of the TV where it almost sounded like you were in a bathroom plus muffled also the sound was not quite as good when showing the cool vintage items on the shelf. (Maybe the shotgun Mike?) Thank you so much for the incredible tour and for showing us also what’s not finished. Will be really curious how you resolve the issue of the light coming through the garage door! Please keep us updated on how things progress!! (Not a fan of the idea of painting each window black but you need to do what you need to do to do your job!) UPDATE: I don’t know where I got the idea of painting the windows lol!! But hopefully you can black out each window without painting them!!!!!!!Oh! And I love your outfit!! Excellent video! Congratulations!!!❤🎉❤
