We finished building the 10 floor beams for the keel grid!
We are a Swedish family who have sailed the world since 2016 while sharing the adventures here on TH-cam. While we are still sailing, our main focus now a days is building RAN III, a 50 ft sailboat that we are building from scratch. We post a new episode every Friday so make sure to subscribe and hit the bell to be the first to know when there is a new episode!

Watching this beautiful boat slowly come together is like therapy for the soul!
In 50 years of woodworking, I found that I NEVER had enough clamps...no matter how many I had!! Keep up the good work!!
I remember gawping at Steve’s clamp collection when he was building Arabella, and what did Steve say? “We don’t have enough!” 😂
You guys do more in a month than most people do in a lifetime
there's points in this build where Ran III looks like a piece of abstract art. I love the look right now as the keel grid comes together!
I get great satisfaction watching your videos.
Thanks for sharing.🍂
Beautiful Photography - Thanks for sharing
Great job on the audio, love the way the music is mixed with the ambient sounds.
Some real nice timber!
Wow. The house looks amazing! Well done!
Congratulations on the exterior finish on your house. Those solid floor beams will definitely add strength to your hull. Great work. Thanks for the video.
Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
Great work as always! Malin's B-roll is terrific.
Thank you for explaining why you’re using , old growth, mahogany..,,, I can only imagine how beautiful you will make the interior!!!!
Always amazed on how much gets done and so accurately
Your video transports the emotions of excitement about the progress in building your dream boat on one hand and the love for your house on the other hand perfectly.
By the way... puts and gavel nearly sound the same to german "Putz und Giebel"...😂.
You are making good progress on two fronts. The boat work is advancing along with the work on the house. Both are looking great, with the house looking delightful. Long may you call it home, and long may you build happy memories.
It's really looking good, Yohan. I can see you are doing a very good job. When you finish you will feel very satisfied.
Thanks , looking great and the house is just beautiful .
Nice music choice in this episode.
It’s amazing to watch how you really accomplish hard work and the result on first sight doesn’t seem that big.
But you two just persist and keep going. Slowly but surely you are getting to the more interesting parts of ship building.
Great!
The house and hull are looking great. Keep up the great work.
So impressive how you’re not only building this boat you’ve milled almost every piece that’s gone into it. Your house and garden also look splendid and will continue to see improvements. This is all wonderful stuff and I’m thrilled for you, but from a purely selfish point of view it’s clear you’ll never go back to sailing and exploring full time. And that’s ok, it’s just life, I’ll miss watching your past life style. In the meantime I enjoy the boat build.
The dedication you guys have it is incredible.
😜👍
Wonderful ❤ great progress 👏👏
Lots of hard work.
Very interesting as usual, thank you for making these films.
Yes the house looks wonderful! As does the project ! 👍
The scenery is beautiful and the little house is so beautiful. I just love your videos.
Great video as usual !
I 100% agree with you, we realy have the feeling to see a real boat with the floor beams 👍
Greetings from France
Excellent work.
I think one day, after you have been sailing to faraway places around the globe on RAN III, the story of your vessel will get out there and someone will make a movie about this journey!
Your house looks great,
Be safe .
Your garden looks wonderful! You have quite the green thumb.
I look forward to these each week. After our short interaction in Ensenada MX when you sold RAN 1 we watched your channel. It is fun to see both the boat and your family grow up!
House is certainly looking very fresh
85Kg bulky long piece of solid Africa lumber and you pick it up like it's made of polystyrene...
Johan is made of iron and tough as rocks man, us men should give a shout out to Johan... I bet he could tacle a bull and win😂... Well done on your progress...
Nice video once again.
Always amazing I lookforwards to next xxx
Bra jobbat, som alltid 👍
Glue ups are much more stable as each individual layer of epoxy is very hard and provides additional stiffness and the ability to exclude water…..great job
To sell more merchandise, I would think if the pics of people wearing it was you and your family.. more personal. I absolutely love the boat build series cheers
Just an awesome job you two are doing!!
Best way to start the weekend! 🤩
Thanks!
The house looks great 🎉🎉🎉.
Once again beautiful work!
Good times will come and go. But in the end, you will most surely get it done. Besides, you've gotta do something while you're alive - so you might as well build a boat!
Отличная работа. Крепкий набор из стапели. Лучше чем композит сэндвич!!!))
I am amazed of the command of your English skills. Here is something you can add to your American idioms. At 5:40 you , mentioned "Water pipe". Commonly it is known as a "Rain spout. The channel running along the roof to capture rain "run off", are "Gutters" 😅
Stucco is the English (American) term for exterior lime plaster, or Portland cement-lime plaster wall finish. The house looks great!
In wet climates on old walls a breathable lime plaster rendering is better as it allows the bricks to breath and with more organic building materials its vital. Hemp Crete, Cob, straw bale or wattle and daube.
The lime also deters rot insects and vermin.
House looks great. Really cute. Maybe a tour?
Congratulations ❤❤❤
creativity, talent and a great sailor you got it all👍
Winter is approaching!
Lots of good work. I would encourage you to get your limber holes in now, oversize them, and then make sure they are sealed with epoxy, or better yet a piece of plastic pipe cut in half lengthwise. A piece of pvc or cpvc pipe, about 30mm in diameter, cut in half would give you a 15mm x 30mm limber hole which will be less likely to get plugged up, and is also large enough to get a tool into if you need to clean it out.
i used abs pipe same difference but more of them and i wish i had put some in the turn of the bilge
I can imagine that you will get very attached to this house. Very nice job!
When finished, this boat will have a long life span. Solidly built for sure.
Great video! It is so much fun to see this come together.
The house looks fantastic and the boat is looking good with the progrease.
Given the work on the boat and your plans for your house and barn you may want to consider finding two more husbands that are carpenters.
Thanks guys.. 😊
Keep up the great work! The boat is going to be beautiful! Thank you for your dedication and hard work!!!
House looks great! And the furniture you are putting under your boat floor is nice too lol
Well done 👍.
That is an excellent stucco finish on the outside. It should be an easy texture to paint when the time comes. I used a high-gloss paint on my stucco house and was pleased with the finish.
Great team ! Great work ! Salutations from Belgium !
Awesome! It looks so good!
Very nice 🙂
great views, a lovely place to live,
Looks great 👍
In the US we call that exterior surface treatment stucco.
outstanding
😊 bravo
Godt jobba!
Thankyou 👍
Added strength is from lamination. Also you can control the wood grain
I have two left hands, all thumbs, but really enjoy watching this massive undertaking
very nice.
Great
Just loving the way you explain what is going on, but tooooo short longer vids please.
i love the Starlink terminal!!! They are made in Texas!
Thanks for another great video.
I am missing solar panels...
Looking good guys. I boat is steel, but I find this build facinating..
That mahogany would be a dream for me as a guitar builder! 😀 Hard to watch it being ripped down into strips, but I understand why it needs to be done! 😉 Congrats on the haul and all the best for your project from Munich/Germany! 👋
It's not real mahogany
@@jonnenne Hi, it‘s Sapele, i.e. African Mahogany, good enough for me … 😉
Det bubblar i det skånska blodet när man ser Skånelängan blir såå fin!
(Och båten)
superb video, have you bought a new lens? so happy that you are now laying the foundations of the inside of the boat
Nice house in your futur !
Carpenters work to 1/16" or 1/32" for experts, engineers working with lasers deal in microns or less. (1/32" =793 microns) I love that the engineer (yes you said owner, but he is an engineer with that comment) is involved in your project and I would definitely use this laser if I needed one because the company cares.
Seeing all the geese flying in a vee reminds of the time my Gal called me a jerk. I had asked her if she knew why one leg of the vee is always longer...I said it's because it has more geese on that side😅
Clamps FYI - it is possible to make 2 beams using 1 set of clamps. Glue up the beams back to back and use one clamp for each offset as long as the offsets are not to much different in the lengths of the section. By making the beams using sections of the plank you are making a glulam beam which is structually much stronger than the single plank of wood that the beams are made of.
Laminating doesn't just make it more economical, when done properly, laminations are also stronger, less susceptible to warping and water ingress. All benifits!
You can always paint a trompe de l'oeil window on that gable end. You would have your symmetry without all the internal remodeling.
I was watching this video as I vacuumed the water trapped in my yachts grid and I though I'm going to leave a comment reminding him to put scuppers in😅
The new roof is nice but I think the chimney flashing is yet to be done. Hope the broken leg guy recovers well.
Is Vera in college already didn't see her in this episode!
Gutters for the rain, stucco is the material on the exterior of the house (I think)
Looks like gutters were up, but needing downspouts.
Let air circulate under your Whisky barrel Marle it will stop the bottom from rotting out three or 5pieces of flat tile will do ...and leaving a flat surface in front of the barrel under the tap will mean you dont have to hold a bucket under it for a fill. 😖 😉🧙🏼♂️
SLOW DOWN Johan, Malin did say a couple of years 😮😂😂😂
Your house blanket is called stucco.
Those horses are scaring me, partner.
He's asking colts to do the work of mules!😆
The boat is looking good, the house is looking good. Your farm is such a beautiful location, it would be nice to keep as your forever home to return to when not cruising; or will you need to sell it to refill the cruising kitty?
Free beams 🙂
