great song.. power sound.. great band.. Michael W Smith.. great musician.. keyboardist.. singer.. composser.. I hope someday he leaves away from the "hillsong" style music from today.. and return to his origins..
I wish he would produce music like this as well (change your world album) I remember hearing thus in youth group so long ago for the first time.... Memories
He just did a tour and performed this song along with a bunch of other "Change Your World" songs. 1st half was all pop classics. 2nd half was all worship.
@Gilberto totally agree on MWS coming back with more of this style. New stuff!!! I met MWS working at Abercrombie and Fitch back in the day in Franklin. Very nice dude and what a magical singer and all the above! Cheers🎵☮️
I saw him this evening, he was doing front of house for Danny Gokey... not only is he a fantastic guitar player, he's really good behind a mixing console, too.
The passion and energy is in everyone there, you can see and feel it. It's undeniable the awesome job everyone did in recording this powerful performance.
I was at the show in Dallas and the energy in the place I can still remember today like it was yesterday.. they definitely did an awesome job, though the energy in person was indescribable.
This really has a feel of Chicago/Danny Seraphine on the drums and Lee Loughnane on the trumpet. Late '80s Chicago, think Chicago 18-19 era! I love it! Smitty has even said he's influenced by Elton John, Chicago and Genesis :)
That is correct. He is also influences the progressive rock band Yes and the Beatles. What separates Michael w Smith from a lot of Christian artist. Is not all of his albums sound alike. Each relates to the pop rock style of that particular year. Change your world was different in that it did that but also he used his personal influences with pop rock sounds of the 90s to create something unique. He would continue the trend of pop rock sounds with influence and Godly lyrics until 2001. With his worship album where he used a signature sound of worship melodies.
may 1, 1993, chapel hill nc. just days after turning 17. greatest birthday present ever! if a guy wants to impress me, try getting backstage passes to meet him! i'm 36 and ever since age 11, that would be a dealmaker for me. i will melt in that guy's arms like butter.
"You shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns. You shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold." - William Jennings Bryan, 1896
Saw this concert with DC Talk at Clemson. SOOOO GOOD! I'll never forget it. He made a joke about the guitarist being from the Last of the Mohicans. :) At the end of the song, some fans paraded a HUGE golden cross down the isle and in front of the stage. Probably the highest energy concert I've ever attended.
i can watch michael on youtube all day long at the library if i could. until i get my own laptop, that is with internet access in a place of my own. long story.
!What energy that song! Tha bass player I think uses a Sarzo bass.. Tony Palacios of Guardian at guitar.. the brass ensemble.. wouw.. great arrangement.. ¿¿Why Michael W Smith.. why did you fall into that sad "hillsong style"..?? ¿why?
i just saw michael at the nc state fair this past friday and it was an AWESOME worship experience! what made it even better i went with my best friend God gave me to walk this earth! she lost her voice by sunday when she picked me up for church! but it was worth it.
Não propriamente. Essa só é a banda mais completa. Há elementos para tudo nesse palco. A banda da era "The Big Picture" me parece ser a melhor. Eram poucos elementos e faziam a atmosfera. Com o Mark Heimermann, Wayne Kirkpatrick e Chris Rodriguez, você tem mais de meio caminho feito.
@@antonlarter1113 I wish all of his music after this era was actually good. I heard something recent on the radio in passing and it was the most generic formula driven worship garbage I've heard.
So love this song.🎧🎵🎶🎼🎹🕘🔥 I watched this powerful performance by Michael W. Smith & his band first in 2005. Since then I kept searching on youtube till I found it in 2020. Youthful energy on display.
Andrew Dean, don’t worry about that comment above from six years ago. He was just doing that to get somebody like you to pay attention to him and say something, etc. He wasn’t being serious.
Is he a christian... wow this looks like a wordly concert.. man wy try to b like the world to win the world..totally against the word of God.. I m ashamed :-\ lord forgive us n makes us more like u..jesus
Mate, which part of this song is evil or praising sin? The song is exactly about real: about wearing your cross of gold because it means you are saved and not just because it looks nice.
Even Christ went into places that the pharasies or spiritual leaders said exactly what you're saying about Michael and his band in the video. As a musician, I've done shows like this and even in secular bands and when I did, God always opens doors to share my faith, encourage someone, pray with someone and maybe lead someone into a relationship with God. I was always told by someone that was once close to me that my ministry as a musician went on more behind the scenes and back stage than it did while I was on stage. Being on stage is the tool that God may use to change someone's heart, plant a seed so to speak that maybe after the show, we can start to water that seed, again encouraging someone to start that walk and relationship with God. Don't be like the spiritual leaders of Christ's day. Even Christ would go to this show to help Michael.
THE BEST SMITTY SONG EVER!! In my humble opinion... :)
I have to agree. The " Change Your World", was an Incredible concert tour!!
100%!!!

Met Tony Palacios the guitarist a few months ago. He is one of the nicest guys around.
I saw him this evening, he was doing front of house for Danny Gokey... not only is he a fantastic guitar player, he's really good behind a mixing console, too.
I met him too, He's not only my favorite guitar player, but also a humble and nice guy.
He does those Dann Huff leads true justice!!
@@joshuakeller6687 yup that ain't no easy thing to do

I used to think the guy with long black hair looked like Fabio as a kid!! This whole concert was cool!!! And still is!!!
He is gaer 😅 s and I love h song 🎶
YES (organ flourishes) meets Chicago (horn section) meets Michael W. Smith
And sounds like Genesis in this song... "Turn It On Again"!
I love
❤I love t h song 😅 and he is gader
Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant were the first massively successful Christian rock artist superstars.
Petra was before them. 😊
I really like the keyboard/synth/hammond organ solo section of this song. I keep on repeating this whenever I drive.

Totally agree

The best back vocals !! this the real pop music !!
Thank you Jesus Christ for this song
Change Your World is easily Michael's best album.
I would have to disagree. I think The Big Picture is his best, but he does have a lot of runner up albums like this one.
Change Your World is unbeatable
Love this song...what energy...M.W. Smith at his best.

Aaaaahhhh the passion of it all. Beautiful.
PRAISE to Our Mighty GOD & Savior JESUS CHRIST!!!!!
Why do you wear yours? It is not the eighties. Love this song, and the retro Smitty sound.I wear mine to show who I belong to.

I wish Christian concerts were like this still - it’s all repetitive praise and worship now
"By Their Fruits Ye Shall Know Them"

This is kind of weird by modern pop standards. I mean that in the best of ways, though.
Way better than the shitty studio version.
