Thanks for the tour of an amazing survivor Corvette! I agree that the car would benefit from a really good repaint but, it looks really good as it is. I appreciate your respect and care for these time capsules.
Yes, sure did. I was driving a 72 back in 81 and a friend ordered a new 81 4-speed. And the interior shot on page 3 of the brochure shows a red interior car with the 4-speed. 😀 And the best thing about it was a 4-speed manual was finally available in California for the first time since 1975. 😎
Sweet Corvette here! I'd be on the fence on the repaint but as you said, this car deserves it being with the moderate mileage. Doggy as these 80-82's are, the styling is timeless and it still has the finned valvecovers! I'd love to see one with a moderate restomod treatment, say with still a smallblock but with one of those newer FI systems and fender flares with bigger wheels & tires and a touch lower. This wouldn't be a car for that though.
Hey Bob, I'd like to see what Hoovies' detail magician over at Van Go would think about a detail refresh vs repaint? He's done some amazing work bringing old/worn paint back to life in amazing ways. I just can not see repainting this time capsule survivor. As another commenter mentioned "It's only original ONCE!" In my book, that's pause for reflection. (No Pun Intended!)
I don't know that I'd paint it if it really is original. 40 year old car....tough call..edit: my father had a red 81 when I was a kid, the tires look period correct to me
SOLD!
With all of the thoughts regarding a repaint Yay vs Nay, I guess that you must have realized/found out, that 'Patina' Sells, Baby!

Nice Corvette! The values have really gone up in the last year...
I always wanted to take the C3 Collector Edition, and do a T56 and LT1 or 350 TPI conversion. I think you’ll do well with it. Thanks for the video.
Love the C3 corvette! Even the less powerful ones.
Even though these 80s C3 Corvettes were a casualty of emissions standards it's still a sweet car!!! I'm ambivalent about painting it!!! 👍👍
The 81s did come with a 4 speed manual. Because my brother has one.

It’s only original once. Repaint IMO would be a sin
@@kgarba9253 Right On! I agree with you 100%...
I like spending time with Bob.
Needs some paint TLC at Hoovies buddy. Love the tail end of the C3’s.
There were 3 different ones. 4 if you count the one with the seam in the middle.
very nice car!!
Wow I want a Corvette
A real salesman he has an answer for every thing.

On a buying spree??? Nice Vette

Beautiful car. Love the 80-82 body but it needs restomod bad. Probably 30k investment so it’s a labor of love not investment
You need front and back bumper covers new , Those are about to crumble up.
still for sale?
Paint it man, come on.
I am waiting to hear back from one customer interested in as it is but am going to have painted if they pass.
you almost bought that car...lol
Lol! That’s what I was thinking!
Team no paint
Horrible tires you stuck on that car
? There are two options on this size. The BFG and Cooper Cobra. BFG the better choice.
There's nothing wrong with those BFGS they are great tires.
