we stayed here long ago when there boats were in the 'moat' taking you to Various destinations. As it was ocean fed, there was actually fish in there but they could not escape. There was a massive 3 ft long Barracuda that lived in the moat, feasting on the fish.

Just saw this vlog and I definitely agree about the walking you have to do to get around. We stayed here Christmas 2012 with plans for a two-week vacation. I ended twisting my ankle so bad there that we ended up leaving a week early. Lovely facilities but not if you have any disabilities. Thanks for sharing your story.

Oh my - that sounds painful! Hope you were able to enjoy at least a *little* of your Hawai'i vacation though. Thanks for watching, and I hope you'll consider subscribing!

Juat returned from a five day stay at this resort and did like it. I tagged along again as a travel companion of my grown daughter who was on the Big Island to see Volcanoes National park and Mauna Kea for star gazing. Five full days and five excusions (3 full day trips around the island) kept us plenty busy but we liked the action being on the go. My favorites though were on the Hilo rainforest side and not the Kona desert side but it is very unique with the lava rock look and great weather almost always. This time you did the walking for me but great refresher of recently being there. Another disadvantage for some is there is not a sandy beach at the resort but instead a lava rock beach there. The tram although slow is still good to wait for as there is a short wait (2 trams run) to reduce the walking and is sure like a slow monorail at Disney Orlando. We had already been at the large Atlantis resort in Nassau so had a good idea of what to expect for walking. It was good at my age that I walk daily for exercise so was up to all the walking. My wife if she had been there would have found too much walking. I cannot be certain but the dolphins look very happy and are loved by the staff there. The main resort slide is a good one for a pool. . This resort is just so beautiful that although not for all, made us feel like we were in the beauty of Hawaii for a week and liked not being in a congested part of the island such as staying in Kona or Hilo proper . Good review.

That sounds like a wonderful trip! You are right about the lack of a sandy beach, too. Very good point! Thanks for watching, and I hope you'll consider subscribing!

We also stay at Kings Land and love that we have free access to this resort as well. I'm not sure we have the stamina for all the walking, lol!

The ferry’s are back in business as of April 2023. Been coming here for over 5 years now annually. And it’s wonderful.

Wow, just an amazing place. Personally I would prefer a smaller place, with less people, but still beautiful scenery here. Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome! I'm with you - I prefer a place that's not quite as massive. But those views are just stunning!
