My wife and I love this resort. We stayed there in 1993 when it was the Hyatt Regency Waikaloa, and then again in 2021. One of the reasons the Big Island is our favorite island is this resort. It's just so relaxing and so much to do when you don't want to relax. My wife did the Dolphin Quest in '93 when it was only available to adults via a room number lottery, but in '21 our whole family enjoyed Dolphin Quest. Definitely another plus for this place.

The service is variable and the price for the value is astronomical. As a Lifetime Hilton Diamond Member I would never stay at this property again.
Awesome video! My wife and I are planning to visit in October. Stuck between Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort and this one. Which would you recommend? This resort seems quieter and less children running around. However it doesn’t look like there is much surf? We wanted to surf when we were there so would Oahu- Waikiki be a better option? Hilton Hawaiian village is on Oahu while Hilton Waikoloa village is on the big island. So if you plan to vacation on Oahu definitely stay at HHV but if you vacation on the big island definitely stay at HWV. Both resorts are great. HHV could be very busy during summer months but it's in the heart of honolulu. Waikiki beach is just steps away from the resort and the resort is near to everything. Go to the Big Island. There is a lot more to do and Waikiki is cool but it basically is a crowded city beach. ALL beaches in Hawaii are open to the pubic and the west coast of the Big Island has loads of beautiful beaches. We usually drive to a new beach or 2 each day. The surf on the west coast is super gentle in the summer and it's especially mild surf in the mornings. Snorkeling right off the beach is great from several beaches. Don't be shy, buy a book that shows you where to access the beaches and go to even the fanciest hotel's beach. We go to several hotel's and parks on the west coast. The west coast is dry and it nearly never rains there, but drive over the volcanoes to the east coast and you are in a rain forest. Drive up to the high country for beautiful cowboy country. In the village of Waimea, try the Hawaiian Style Cafe for a laid back casual meal including banana macadamia nut pancakes anytime of day. Village Burger is also casual and very nice burgers from local ingredients. Get there early for Wagu burgers. Merriman's is an upscale restaurant if you can get a sitter for the kids but they usually have a happy hour in the mid-afternoon with outdoor dining where prices are better and the food is great. Waikiki does have beginner surf lessons but I am not sure if you can get the same on the Big Island. I imagine you can. For me, the Big Island is more spacious and beautiful with tons of beaches, mountains, high country and volcanoes.

Hi gary thanks you for enjoying the video. When it comes to restaurants that are open I would suggest Kamuela Provision Co., for steak and seafood. It has the best view, facing the ocean. Got an email from Hawaiian airlines and Hilton that they have an offer of $649 for 5 nights at the grand vacations ocean tower. Is it worth it? A lot of reviews are mixed so not sure. Sounds like a good deal though.

Hi stella thank you for watching. The ocean has been refurbished recently so the rooms are newer than the other towers. Since it is part of HGVC most rooms has kitchenette which is great if you want to cook your meals. However, ocean tower is the farthest when it comes to resort facilities but it has the adult pool inside the courtyard. The palace tower is the best location when it comes to going to resort facilities because it is in the middle but the rooms are older and smaller. We have stayed there and our room was small. Just remember this resort is primarily for family but it is great for adults as well. However if you like a quieter time during your vacation this might not be the choice since there will be a lot of kids running around. If you do like more intimate atmosphere and more pampering there’s four seasons on the island. We have stayed here 3x and we love this place and compare to four seasons HWV is way cheaper. If you are hilton honors club member you can stay at any towers but there are towers only for hilton grand vacations club such as the Lagoon tower, grand Waikikian
The ocean tower is recently updated but the Makai tower is not yet it needs to be updated. The Palace tower is looks ok to me the last time stayed in one of the room which was 3 years ago.

Huge & tram spells Disneyland. Not my idea of a relaxing vacation & get away. I just staid at an Airbnb for $150 per night. Clean, quiet, private parking, killer view, no crowd or screaming kids.

Hawaii doesn't have any all inclusive resorts any more, although I think it would be a great idea for many resorts. BUT, they'd have to up the costs considerably to compensate for the loss of revenue from the restaurants. When the Mauna Kea first opened and was the only hotel on the Kohala Coast they included breakfast and dinner every day on their dining plan because there was literally no place else to go.
@@jeztravel When I am paying over $2,000 a night at Grand Wailea for the same room that cost me $800 a night for the same dates in 2019, I think they can afford it. Cruise lines have all inclusive figured out at much lower costs. I can do a 7 night, all inclusive Disney cruise for much less than $14,000 plus tax, parking and resort fee.
Hilton Waikoloa is big. It is not luxurious, it is not the most beautiful, and certainly NOT the best resort to stay on on the island, that would be the Four Seasons Resort Hualala'i. Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea and Fairmont Orchid. The captive dolphin feature is reason enough to avoid the Hilton.

Hilton Waikoloa village is in the big island. Hilton Hawaiian Village is in Oahu. They are not in the same island
"Better" is always a judgment call. I'd prefer Hilton Hawaiian Village because Oahu has better beaches, more and better dining, more to see and do.

It is not cost effective to have an all-inclusive stay in the US.

They have an all inclusive package with breakfast and dinner daily. Unfortunately, lunch is not included.
