This video just reinforces my belief that I look better with short hairstyles, especially chin length/below the ears. I've always had long hair growing up. It wasn't until recently that I even considered getting short hair.
One night out of boredom I chopped my hair off in my bedroom. Obviously it was a disaster and I had to get it fixed asap. So to the salon I went and they gave me a chin length cut. I got so many compliments the following days. My best friend told me don't even think about growing my hair out again.
All in all I think we should all experiment and be creative with our hair. It'll take a while to find the right style and equally important, the right hair stylist. Trust me hairdresser will make or break your hair
I used to have short hair all my life until university, and I was “entertained” with the feminine look until very recently I chopped it back to chin length and I will never grow it long again! 😂😂
I really want to cut my hair to shoulder length, but my mom won't let me. she thinks I'm too "dark" (very colorist..). I've told her my problems with my current hair (blocks me from seeing sometimes, annoying to wash, a ponytail makes my scalp hurt), but she just seems to not want me to get my hair cut. do you know how I should convince her?
@@paint3r this depends on how strongly your mom is against it. Depending on how old you are, she should almost have no say on your hair length. My mom used to be like that too, but I just cut my hair anyway and at first she was mad but then got over it.

When I was in elementary school I had very short hair, people always mistook me for a boy. But I started growing it out and now it's up to my hips. Though many people have complemented me that I look beautiful with long hair, I want to go for a more androgynous look. This video was very helpful. Thank you
omg that happened to me once when I was 7 i think. It was a stupid but traumatic experience, then I started growing it out for years. I had like a year wanting to get it short, but I was terrified of looking like a boy, and not a hot one lmao. I finally got it short last july, and is the best desition i've ever made. I have a wide and round face, but certain short hairstyles actually look good on me. My hairstylists have even expressed being surprised that my chosen cut turned out as flattering as it turned out after they were done. I think it also depends on your attitude and clothing styles.

In my opinion the most important factor is your facial dimensions(width and length), I have a wide face and with a very small forehead so there is an imbalance and this gets worse when I have my hair short. Longer hair bring more balance to my face, I have found that shorter hairstyles look good on people who have smaller faces irrespective of facial features. Also consider hair texture too especially if you have frizzy and shapeless hair like me.
ha! we have the same type of hair and face! since last year, I only had it short because I some salons near me closed, I just chopped it on my own but my face looks very big now. x_x I will try my best to fight off the temptation to cut it again

i also have a wide face shape (as in width and height similar) and small forehead. i also have a short cranial top which im self conscious of. i currently have shoulder length wavy hair and im waiting for it to grow out.

Hm. Personally, i like myself best with short hair. Not only is it more manageable, but i feel like it gives me a more androgynous vibe and i really like that.

Personally, i think everyone can look good with short hair. It just depends on what cut and the general vibe they're trying to go for(and the hairdresser. I feel like my hairdresser butchered it the first time i asked so now I just do it myself haha)

Same I also like short hair Bc my hair gives off natural volume on the top to even out my face and it makes my face appear more slim and smaller. This was so helpful! I’ve found that I’ve always tended to look better in shorter hairstyles or ponytails, but I’ve been on a desperate quest to find longer hairstyles that will suit my face shape. Knowing the theory behind why shorter or longer hairstyles suits a persons face helps A LOT.
i did not know about the visual weight thing, but it makes sense. i consider i have high visual weight, and i always wondered why extremely straight hair makes me look weird. fluffy hair makes me look feminine and cute it really does make sense

even though i have higher visual weight features, short hair (i've tried chin-length and neck/shoulder-length) looks much better on me because it matches my style better! long hair actually makes me look more like a child and less mature :')

Wow. This is really detailed and useful. I've had short hair for years now (other than when I grew it out during COVID) and I always got compliments when I have a classic bob. This explains some reasons why I look good in it.
i just wanna say that for me, styling my hair is extremely simple. I have short hair (right below the ear) and i never ever need to style it. i have never used any tools (not even a blow dry, except from when i got it cut) on my hair and it looks amazing. short hair is not always in need for styling. i might just be lucky but short hair for me is a blessing because i no longer have to style it like i did when i had long hair.
I have had hair from a shaved pixie length to all the way to my lower back and I’ve noticed that when J looked my best, was when I had shoulder length hair. Growing up, I've always had short hair but as I grew older, I became more aware of the way my face stood out and didn't like it so I decided to just grow them out. And to this day, I still prefer longer hair on me. I can style it differently and even loose curls look great! I've damaged my hair so much because, as mentioned in the video, short hair is harder to maintain and styled so it's great that my hair won't have to go through the pain just to look presentable every morning. This video also helped gave me more insight so thanks!

By the principle of higher visual presence hairstyles being better for higher visual presence features, I think it could also be applied to clothing choices/styles. We have the seasonal colour palette that accounts for different skin tones and features, but incorporating the strength of visual features could also be pretty helpful. Don't know if a video's been done on this already, but this is an idea I'd like to see explored in a video in the future perhaps. Great video! 🌚

i have a quite long jaw (and a quite round face, not a lot of fat just shaped round-ish) and i had long, thin, blonde hair. cutting it a bit longer than chin level and getting curtain bangs mustve been one of the best choices to up my appearance ever.

Update: got it! Fits me and my style, i like it a lot. It's starting to get to shoulder length, so when i get it cut, i might try very short hairstyles. I've seen more and more characters that i look similar to, with variations of very short hairstyles that i end up prefering now. Hopefully it ends well hahah

speaking from experience, short hair will take lesser time to style solely bc the length of the hair is easier to work with when it comes to both drying and ironing. long hair took me twice the amount to make them look as good, bc it takes way more time to blow dry it out fully.

This is helpful! What I’ve learned though is you just have to not be afraid to try anything! Hair for most people just grows out, so as long as you avoid severely damaging your hair, you never have to worry!

i think layering is the most important thing. i have strong facial futures and i look way more good with layered wolf cut-ish hair (with styling ofc otherwise my hair literally sticks to my head)

Speaking from personal experience, the smaller the face, the better it looks with short hair. I've rocked pixie cuts as well as short bobs and now I got long hair. People love it when my hair is short because I have a small face. However, I actually look good with any haircut I've tried so far. I'm letting it grow down to my waist for a change.

In recent two years i finally cut my hair short (ear level and shorter) and GOD! I never looked better in my life.
There are ways to see which hair looks good on you but none are better than actually doing the cutting and having some adventure.
I had long/medium wavy hair my whole life until last year where I decided I wanna get a short haircut , I got a chin length haircut with curtain bangs and it looked really good on me , even my whole school told me that I look way better with short hair including my teachers who said that I slay short hair, and honestly I don't think I'll ever grow my hair long again after that 😭
And easier to maintain, no need to blow-dry too ,plus u can shampoo ur hair if your scalp gets sweaty

I always kept my hair long when I was younger, when I got older I cut it shorter because it became extremely curly (it used to be stick straight) and it was overpowering my small face. The video has blown my mind. It was all about visual weight!! Then specifically between the upper and lower half of the face! I have naturally straight black hair and I didn't like it when my hair was long. After i dyed it i kept going lighter and decided i would never go back to long black hair. When i curled my long hair (ashy blond) i liked loose waves. Now i have a black pixie and i love it! I see now that i was balancing the visual weight this whole time as i changed the color and length.
The length from my earlobe to bottom of my chin is a little longer than 2.25 inches but the lower half of my face is less visually prominent. I do think i look better with my hair at earlobe length or shorter. I'm just--wow. I want to go light again with my pixie and now i know how to balance it. Thanks peach!!

I have 4c hair that looks shorts in it it's natural state but when it is straightened it is very long (back length) so I'm really excited to finish this video so I can come up with a final decision
Honestly though, just try it out! I had long hair, shaved head, medium length, bangs etc. You might be surprised how good you look in different styles

I always felt that short suited me very much, but long looked nice too but it didn't look special 😅 I love short hair but it's fun to use extensions once in a while too

I always thought short hairstyles might emphasize my jaw so I never considered cutting my hair. Then one day, when I wanted to get it trimmed at the salon, the hairstylist cut it shorter than I intended but I realized it actually looks really good on me haha

Honestly like i've always had long hair my whole life. i've only got myself a bob or something when i was really young. i have naturally wavy and fluffy hair and since my hair was long, it was super hard to maintain it and i sort of lost my hair texture and it just looked dry and it was a huge pain to take care of it.
i was too scared to cut it back when i was 13 and 14 so i jus went with the long hair even though i didn’t like it. back in 2020 i even bleached and dyed my hair which i regret and it only made my hair frizzier. so in 2021 i decided i was going to cut my hair and i did. i did it on my own and i don't regret it till this day.
i gave myself something in between a wolf cut and a mullet and i feel so much better about my hair. i no longer need to spend hours to do my hair and my hair has never been healthier. its so easy to maintain and the wavy and fluffy part of my hair really suits my recent hairstyle. i was too scared to cut it back then because i thought i'll be 'less feminine' or 'less attractive' but i don’t care anymore. i really love the way it looks on me.
i really think you should experiment with your hair. if you had it long all your life and you feel like it isn’t you, just cut it a bit short, don’t go too short in the first time itself and see how it goes. then you can do it shorter if you feel like it'll look good on you.

I have shoulder length hair (nvr kept longer than that). I have a big forehead, kinda slim nose (slim in length but not too slim or too wide/big), high cheekbones, lips are small as per width but med. volume (not too plump nor too thin but the lower lip looks heavier then the upper one), eye are small (not too small like east asian or big and round but small), heart shaped face jaw, hairline is kinda u know yeah heart shaped. My shoulders aren't 90 degree or slouched, shoulder are 35 cm wide approx. My neck is not long or small but my hand covers it all at one time also it is thin. My legs are longer than my body but my height is 5'4/5/6 approx. I don't have glasses but I use the aviator glasses (blue ray) at home, they seem one size bigger and make my face look thinner. My face is kind of long due to forehead but not wide.
as for head shape, big from top but gets thin while coming down to shoulders.(u know those hairstyles people have which makes their upper head look big from back but smoothly become small on napes with the undercut.....i have that shape already lol)
My hair is soft and thin. Not smooth. A little frizzy when I wash my hair after a day they settle. My hair is fluffy as long as I don't oil (but i need to cause my scalp is dry for lengths i use capsule) them but for volume I did say no. They are mildly wavy at the end (n I think because of me always keeping them tied) but straight in length, they are not straight nor wavy like the common way type you know. Tbh I have never used anything on my hair except for those hair vitamin capsule thrice till now.....lol.
I want to get the shorter hair because lately I have been thinking it would look better but I amnot sure. When I open my hair my forehead looks so forking big and when I keep them tied my upper front face looks wide. my main problem is my forehead. I don't have bangs...I feel i look older than I am tbh. My style and nature is also boyish so i don't worry about it.
I really am done with maintaining my hair pls help me....my hair sounds the same as yours. Also, my face looks heavy and big when I open my hair and I just can't set them.

My hair was so long and so healthy I used to take care of it and my hair used to get compliments and I never thought 'bout cutting it he was As my babyyy 😂😂

I remember When I cut it last year I got a looot of compliments from everyone they told that it's fits my face more and make me look cute
So I think it doesn't really matter for me I love my short hair ..don't think twice just cut it.. it will grow anyways !!

Interesting because I consider myself as having a high visual weight face and yet shorter hair suit me better. And I think the same about Lisa tbh, she def looks better with medium/shorter hair than long imo.
Since I gained weight, very long hair looks better on me. But long hair with hime cut is cute too! Its because it gives illusion of V line while still taking away the wideness with the rest of the hair length. I recommend people buy a cheap wig to try a hairstyle first before changing their real hair.

I just got a haircut a month ago ( long wolf cut ) idk how I feel about it, I have an asian flat face... but surely I will try this in future :)
I actually think chaeyoung looks best in the last picture where she has really short hair. She looks great with long hair as well. But the lob in my opinion looks off on her. Maybe because it's a blunt cut and it's too sharp for her soft face. Idk, just my opinion!
