- Here's Tic Tac box survival kit 2. It's both a quick-access backup to many EDC tools plus a supplement to a Bug Out Bag [BOB] used when stranded in enemy territory, hiding in the woods (hence it's camo). Important[y, it's small enough to carry EVERY day, i.e., you don't leave it behind to save bulk. Big kits are worthless if left behind! You never know when you may need them, plus they lull you into a false sense of security: You are ONLY safe if you run back home to go get them. DOH! Instead, why not carry a MINI, bare bone kit on you EVERY single day so you are ALWAYS prepared, 24/7/365, no matter when (or where) disaster strikes? That's the plan!

It is more of a general purpose survival kit although most items in this video's kit are useful for general survival tasks too and have already been shown in my previous videos' kits.

Doctor Bronner's seems to concentrate over time even in its own bottle. I think there is trace lye in the solution that continues to saponify over time.
Thanks. Good to know about how that brand of liquid soap tends to concentrate itself on its own even in the original bottle. I'm sure that paste it left would still work fine as soap to wash up for emergency surgery in the field.
Another point is that many plastics are actually porous to a small degree, when compared to glass, for example. May be some "evaporation" over an extended period of time.
BTW, bar soap has a more useful life if it is stored for a few months (or longer) before use. As the moisture content is reduced, the soap hardens. Soft soap = more suds, but not necessarily more cleaning. So, simply add moisture to super concentrated liquid soap to achieve the same results prior to evaporation.

You're so good at designing the smallest possible useful survival kits.
Btw another good way to get a micro.sized blade besides snapping a razor blade or an exacto blade is to remove the blade from a cheap pencil sharpener. May not be the best blade ever but they're common and pretty sharp.

That was very very very impressive. I´m subscribed for some time and sometimes I thought "he does have very good ideas, but he´s overdoing it with the very tiny kits that are probably not useful enough". But god was I wrong. Please forgive me. That kit was one of the most amazing things I´ve ever seen. I still can´t believe how you put all those very useful items in and around a tictac case. Also excellent the ability to use the flashlight and the laser without opening the case - incredible. I´m quite sure that nobody ever made a kit that useful - in relation of usefulness and size.
If I´m wrong about that somebody tell me.

I've made so many Altoids emergency kits and used your method of wrapping them with para-cord. I put one in every pack that I have, two in the car ( I know, I know), one attached to my leather Bible case, and one in my wallet (Maxpedition Rat Wallet). My wife told me once, "You watch too many TH-cam videos." I blame people Like YOU! :-)

I have one of those flat mag. lenses and they are too big to fit in a tic Tacs box, at least the one I have which is like a credit card.. I usually do carry a cut down hack saw blade in these sorts of kits but I guess not in this kit I slammed together a few years back. Thanks for pointing it out.

FYI: some double-edge razor blades are scored to be broken in half for insertion into "shaper" or "shavette"-style razors. It might be possible to insert one into the spine of a single-edge blade like you've done here, without the danger of metal shards flying. Just a thought.

Hi Mezillch. As always, thank you for another thought and idea provoking video. You mention you store bleach for its water sterilising; have you ever considered storing potassium permanganate (a.k.a. Condy's crystals) in one of your sealed straws? It's a very old-school survival item but has multiple uses (water sterilising, wound treatment & fire starting) that I think would appeal to you. My guess is that you have heard of it and have discounted it for a very rational reason, but in the off chance you were unaware, you may want to research it and pick some up cheaply from a chemist (or drugstore as I think you Americans may say...!) and try it out. It does stain quite prolifically so you may want to wear disposable gloves and handle it over a sink. Thanks again.
Great video once again. I agree with Roddy Jones and the use of potassium permanganate instead of bleach for small kits like this one here. PP will last for just about the rest of life on earth, but bleach is all but worthless after a few months.
What I have done for tiny kits, is I get PP from a Home Depot or Lowes, or some place like that, in their plumbing section for water treatment. It's dirt cheap and a fine crystal.
Then I take a plastic Q-Tip shaft and cut off the heads, seal one end with hot glue and with tweezers, stick the shaft into the bottle of PP, tap it a little and let it fill itself up, take it out and hot glue that end shut. Now you have enough PP to treat A LOT of water and the shelf life is a long long time.
PP is not the best water treatment you can get, but for its shelf life, size and the amount of water you can treat, it's worth it in my book. Besides, if I'm down to a kit of this size, I would consider myself VERY blessed to have ANY form of water treatment of any amount.
Then take your perfume sample vial and fill it with bug juice. It will hold enough to cover your hands and face if you have to spend a night in the bush or change a flat tire on a country road, so you're not eaten alive.

The compressed cotton tampon were originally designed to plug severe bleedings from gunshot wounds - as far as I am informed - so it makes perfect sense to carry one for that purpose.
Is the plastic mirror flexible enough to manipulate its focal point/line - to make use of it as focused sunray fire starter?
The mirror was meant to flash the sun at distant ships (rescuers) on the horizon to attract attention. The problem is the warped mirror will diffuse its light rays so it will be too dim to be seen brightly. The mirror was cut from a school locker mirror. I no longer advise anything other than inflexible mirrors.
I never heard that tampons were designed to stop bleeding from gun shot wounds. It would be a surprise to me. I did some minor google research a few years back on the topic of putting a tampon in a gun shot wound because it sounded suspicious to me. And for what I remember it´s more like a myth and rather a bad idea to do. I´m not a doctor, only a physiotherapist and we do not deal with open wounds. So I´m not an expert on that topic. But for first aid we had some classes and I´d rather fluff out a tampon if I had nothing better, put it on the wound from outside and apply pressure (to stop the bleeding). If you put the tampon inside the wound, which sounds reasonable in the first place if you think about it - like a plug - it might cause a lot of problems.
For understanding: the human body with a shot wound is not the same as a barrel with a leak, othervise you could also put for example a stick into the wound. A problem with a tampon to put into the wound is that it´s very difficult to take the fibres out afterwards. Another problem is that you hinder the blood vessels of having contact with each other which is what they need to heal.
So when I looked up the topic a few years back I came to conclusion that it´s a better idea to treat the wound from the outside and apply pressure to it. Then try to get the patient to a hospital as quickly as possible. And for what I know there is not much research about the treatment of gun shot wounds with tampons. To me it´s very suspicious. But maybe you want to look into it further, research the topic. So if you come to different conclusions I´d be interested. I´d also be interested if you come to the same conclusions or what you think about what I said with or without researching the topic.
I mean I heard it multiple times by preppers or survival people that you could or should stick a tampon into a gun shot wound. I don´t think so. I rather think it´s a horrible idea even in an emergency. Better put a t-shirt on the wound from the outside and apply pressure. And if you don´t have a t-shirt, fluff up the tampon a little bit, put it on the wound, then apply pressure. Of course that´s not written into stone, it´s just to the best of my knowledge.

Good idea! Although I once tried heating the tip of a nail with a lighter to use it as an emergency soldering iron and found it to be rather poor, there's a video out there of a guy affixing a paper clip to his lighter with ostensibly acceptable soldering results.

Seems like rubber band is sticking to laser due to its permadeath. Please check.
Add rubber bands to the list of items with expiration dates that need to be periodically checked. Although the kit was packed 4 years ago I have no idea how old the actual rubber band is; it was just whatever I could scrounge up from my parts drawer at the time.
My son is in RC hobby, but 2 years ago we fly on rubber motors. Those rubbers die very fast from new. maybe year or two if air and UV sealed, but literally months if contacted with fresh air and sun UV.
Add latex gloves, in first aid kits, to your limited shelf life list, if you haven't already done so. I've been replacing those, with nitrile, hoping for a longer useful life.
U should consider also putting some pills in your bugout kit evrything from aspirin to depon to antipyretic pills

Jeff lol the videos r great and some of his stuff really is a neat idea but exactly. The best thing to prepare is guns, food, and water. Duck tape, mini paracord spools r all useless.
