Well done, another device saved from the skip. The new switch looked to have a metal top section, so it may be worth another look-see whether that part broke off the old switch and is lurking somewhere nasty.
Thanks Ralph! Good advice! I did have a look about but there's no sign of the other parts of the switch that I could see, and I couldn't hear anything else rattling about inside.
Another great video and a nice and easy repair. I'll also add that this is currently my favorite repair channel - you don't bother with loads of fancy editing, annoying background music or feel the need to show your face as so many do (there's a guy on another channel who edits his videos to show his grinning face on a fairly regular basis - I have no idea why, to be honest I'm more interested in the repair than what the TH-camr looks like or if he is mugging at the camera!). Anyhow, I digress. You show what's going on with the repair and that's the most important part. You deserve a lot more subs.
Thanks M Jons👍 It's really hard for me to work out what people like or don't like. Personally I've seen a few repair videos with annoying music all the way through and it really puts me off. I've wondered if showing my face or not makes a difference as some more successful channels do, along with more humor or even singing. I'm fairly camera shy and just think why would people want to see my ugly mug lol! At times I wonder are the videos a bit boring? I have no idea. I do try to respond to every comment but I guess if the channel becomes reasonably successful then that won't always be the case. Thanks for you input 👍Best wishes Mick.
Thanks Mercuraz. I know stez seems a lot more successful than my channel so it's hard to gauge what works and what doesn't. I know he's been doing this a bit longer than I have on TH-cam so I guess we'll see...
@@BuyitFixit I've been following this other TH-camr for nearly 14 years and he's been having that issue as well, trying to find what people want to see in his videos. If only people were honest instead of leaving us in the dark, it would make a hell of a difference for the content creator and the audience! Sadly, our digital society don't live like that.
@@BuyitFixit I see no need to show your face, the best approach to any channel is to make what YOU would like to watch. Look at My Mechanics - he never shows his face yet he has millions of subscribers. Oh, and I never find your content boring, I just wish you had more subs.
If the switch was the problem, a way to circumvent all this (assuming you just want to get it to work without soldering a new part) would be to just clear (reset) a dualshock 4 controller (using paperclip to the round back button) and then using a USB cable to connect the controller directly to the PS4. Pressing home with prompt the PS4 to turn on while it is connected and once it pairs, you no longer need to keep it connected nor need to press the physical power button on the console. This is, again, assuming you just want to get it to turn on and play instead of doing some maintenance and repairs. (Cleaning/soldering)
I cant even begin to explain how much this helped me fix my ps4. Tha kyou so much!! Iv been trying to fix this thing for almost 4 months on my own. An this helped so much

@@BuyitFixit The car just takes up so much time Mick. I've been busy everyday filming, I just haven't done the editing/uploading side of things. Luckily the finger has come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of weeks. Any news on the kidney stones?
Sorry Vince I only just noticed your reply! TH-cam doesn't notify me sometimes. I passed the one that was giving trouble but one remains in the right 5mm, and a small one 1mm in my left kidney. They said there's a 50% chance it will move in the next 10 years! And 90% chance that I'll pass it. So currently no issues 🤞.Glad to hear the finger has come on leaps and bounds👍. Nice fix, but it left me wondering about the loose board for the eject button, did you have any issues with it? And more importantly was there a free disc in the drive. Once again thanks for all the work you put into making these videos, it's appreciated
Thanks Morten, I didn't even try ejecting the drive! It was a bit of a hectic week and the parts literally came yesterday afternoon so I only finished repairing it last night and spent today editing and doing a thumbnail!
Nice fix, that switch idea seems pretty naff almost like they forgot about the switch and had to come up with an elaborate 'get out' fix at the last minute. Totally overengineered !!......cheers.
Yet another epic repair. Just wondering, when you are relaxing do you wear a cape? And of course your underpants on the outside of your trousers? Also which Soldering Iron do you use, does it warm up quickly when you press the "beep" Another interesting ting in your FF sequence was seeing the IPA evaporate off.
Thanks Chris! Ha, relaxing? What's that! My soldering iron is the one I actually repaired a few video's back ( Aixun T3A ) so you can actually get to see the insides too! I love it, it automatically switches on and off when you place it in the stand and that's what the "beep" is, and takes about 2-3 seconds to heat up. Literally take it out of the stand and it's ready to use! I never noticed the IPA evaporating, it was a bit of a rush getting this one out as the part's only arrived on Saturday afternoon, so then it was repair, edit, review, edit, review, thumbnail, publish pretty much!
I have never heard of spraying fins on fan with silicone! Silicone is usually best for lubricating sliding plastic surfaces! Nylon gears and neoprene rubber sealing o rings! Scuba divers are warned not to use hydrocarbon lubricants for o rings as the seals will rot and fail! Fraser🛠
Interesting that they changed the power button to a switch. On the first ps4s like mine it was capacitative. Was a liability. Would randomly switch on and eject discs. I fixed it by removing the rubber foot that was pressing on it but still did it occasionally. No such mistakes on the ps5
