Glad I watched this. I love Virgin but would be really disappointed if I ended up on one of these planes instead of the newer ones. I can't think of anything worse than being sat near to a bar, whilst trying to relax with people getting more drunk and obnoxious right near me. The new herringbone seating layout is much better and seems to offer more privacy too.
@@robertcroft8241 It looks like there's more space in upperclass in the video's I have watched. Is that not the case? We flew in an A350 in April but in economy and I agree with you it was tiny especially after last having done the journey in a 747.
@@robertbrighton9797 The Heathrow to Los Angeles flights the bar is usually taken over by the folks in Premium Economy. Flights back are deadly. (All asleep).
Being British but having lived in Miami the past forty years, I’ve taken a number of trips on VA over the years. Mostly, I’ve been fortunate enough to fly in First (using points) or Premium Economy. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced an issue and the crew have always been very pleasant. As an ex airline employee, I was spoiled a long time ago, so I find it challenging to take long trips in economy.
glad to see this review and your experience. I had the new A350 booked LHR-MCO but change in travel plans made me change to PVR and that route is only the 787-9. I was very annoyed but I guess I'll survive. #firstworldproblems
View from Manchester . I have many times used Virgin Upper Class London to LA , it is OK going when the bar is open and everyone is exited and having a good time . The seating is well, reasonable . Coming back is a misery. I used to really like my Delta flights from Manchester to Atlanta but now that Virgin has taken over it is , as King Charles would say "Awful " Crammed in on old Airbus 330s with poor service , Yes you Garry, and $$$$$ .
It was one of the very first fully flat beds, however, this was the very first one with aisle access, it was one of the ways 20 years ago that this was possible. Window-facing herringbone seats came later.
I love the 787 upper cabin but it is definitely starting to show its age. The A350 seat is fantastic but the cabin feels a little too cramped for my liking.
I didn’t mind the open setup of these seats. I also got a very good nights rest, I also like how the footrest can be a second seat for a friend to sit with you and share a meal.
Good review, give me VA over BA any day. I actually prefer the lounge, the staff & the seat. I fly VA West & Emirates East. BA= Best Avoided... Looking forward to flying on the A330 Neo..
Just used the Manchester/Atlanta VA Upper Class return. Never Again. This was the Airbus 350. Small , cramped , nothing like the 787-9 that I was expecting. All about squashing in more punters. Premium economy seats are wider !
Shocking to see not only Air NZ using these lack-of-privacy seats in their cabin! Can’t wait till these seats are removed and replaced by those facing straight
This has to be one of the worst seat layouts in business (upper) class I've ever seen. Well, maybe not as bad as UAL's old 777-200s with the 2-4-2. Nothing is worse than that.

You will be sorry. The new planes (Airbus 350) are small and cramped in comparison to the 787-9 .

Been on 4 upper classes with the bar. 3 out of the 4 times I was the only one at the bar lol

It’s happened to me twice now. Booked and paid for new a-350 and switched to this old garbage product. Infuriating.
Great review, using them next week on the 787-9.. I use SQ 3 or 4 times a year but VS best across the Atlantic

Facing away from the windows feels so weird.
It can feel weird for quite a few, but some seats do it quite well. Like JetBlue’s Mint

Completely agree with you. We were in the 1st double central suite coming back from New York and I was surprised how tight the cabin felt!

I agree! Before the race to privacy these were popular seats. I still get a better sleep in them than most
