You don't know how much this helped me! My teacher gave me a packet on grammar. Nothing in the packet was taught to us, so I thank you very much for helping me learn this.😊
I remember this assignment one year in my class (it was either third or fourth grade; I had the same teacher for both). We had to do a story with this prompt: While walking through the forest, a magic tree spoke to me... I didn’t notice the misplaced modifier until years later, but hey, the tree is magic; there’s nothing saying it couldn’t walk through a forest as well as talk and do other magic stuff. This is unrelated, but on the whiteboard where it was written, there were two magnets. One said “BOOK LOG!!” and the other said “READ! READ!” I put “BOOK LOG!!” over “forest” and “READ! READ!” over “to me”, so this is what it now said: While walking through the BOOK LOG!!, a magic tree spoke READ! READ! My teacher wasn’t happy.
i need your guidance in making participle phrases..... i am confused in the use of perfect participle phrase and past participle phrase.. e.g. exhausted by his work, he threw himself on the bed. or having exhausted by his work, he threw himself on the bed. which one is correct? and how would i know where to use a past participle phrase or a perfect participle phrase... please address my issue ,, will be grateful..
Hello Teacher, I have a question for you related to this topic. Is there any difference in meaning between the following sentences. He foolishly answered the questions. He answered the questions foolishly. If there is a difference, what would be the diference between your example with thiroughly and these example sentences with foolishly. I would be glad if you could clarify it please
Question: If I write "This is eternal life that they know you the only true God, and Jesus is the one you sent." who or what is being modified in this sentence?
Hi love your videos - i find them very useful to use in my classes. Could you do a video on clause reductions, for example, using participles instead of relative pronouns. Cheers
But these "correct" interpretations assume the "incorrect" interpretations are wrong. But how does one know they are not the correct interpretations? For example, in the 2nd sentence, it is possible that it is the grandmother going up the tree.
This is why my brain hurts doing these. "We almost ate all the sandwiches" is the exact same as "We ate almost all the sandwiches" to my brain. Trying to label one correct and one incorrect just seems petty and makes a language inflexible.I can't work with rigidity, it needs to be fluid or I can't work with it. God, I hate languages. Within context of the sentences that these modifiers were displayed in, none of them can be mixed up with with the alternatives he was insinuating.
I think "We almost ate all the sandwiches" means they were about to eat all of the sandwiches but didn't, and "We ate almost all the sandwiches" means they ate a big portion of the sandwiches.
its so cute how he smiles at the funny sentences
Nameless watch his latest weekly lessons on smrt english videos on you tube there he laughs all the time. soo sweet and a tremendous teacher too
@@ifrahasim392 😂😂😂
He's too cute. Not necessarily looks wise, but personality wise. Giggling at the misplaced modifier was cute. How joyful modifiers can be. lol

That's an excellent lesson! I didn't see anything wrong with the first sentence, but your concise explanation cleared up the confusion!
