Leon and I sang together in the All-Philadelphia Boys Choir, the All-Philadelphia Junior High Choir, the All-Philadelphia Senior High Choir and the All-Philadelphia Senior High School Opera Workshop. We saw each other often and worked together for the best part of 10 years. Along with his talent as a pianist, he was an excellent Bass vocalist. UPDATE: Sadly, Leon was forced to stop performing in 2018 due to the onset of Parkinson's Disease.
I'm glad WHYY made this TH-cam: Leon: you had a few 'make-up' lessons just before mine with our teacher Irene Beck (May she rest in peace) at the Settlement Music School; she was SO proud of you, and we went together one time to one of your performances. I'm rather surprised you didn't mention her in this video. Irene Beck had fled Nazi Austria (Vienna) with her husband and didn't have her own children, but had a daughter of a couple who couldn't get out and raised her as her own; besides her YOU were her ongoing spirit - like a spiritual-son!
I had the pleasure to play principal oboe in the W&L Orchestra when he came and played both the Ravel G major concerto and the Gershwin concerto in F in the same concert. Those are treasured memories.

Your style of delicately crafting the spirit of the classics is commanding and yet very light, like a branch giving to a breeze.
I've always loved to see him play. A true renaissance man: brainy, buff body. And oh so gifted. I envy his wife.
I first time I heard him play was Gershwin's Piano Concerto. I was very impressed and for years I remembered it.
Brilliant piano! Words can't describe the impression its made on my hearing it!

He is an excellent pianist...have heard him on The Arts Channel ....on TV.
I love you.
