And that’s really not meant as a criticism; in the vast majority of cases, the end result is transformative and feels like its own thing (e.g “Snow-bound Land” in DKC2 vs Vangelis’ “Antarctica”, which it was inspired by). Of course, there _are_ a few exceptions… (see TT’s theme in Diddy Kong Racing vs Kool & the Gang’s “Celebration”; it’s basically just a lazy copy & paste of the chorus instrumental).

When I was fighting this boss, I was more focused on the Music then the boss because I kept thinking it sounded like One Winged Angel in parts, Glad I wasn't the only one who heard it lol
For as great a game as Super Mario 3D World was, the bosses were one of its weakest aspects. Not counting Boss Blitz, most of the bosses were too simple and too easy for me to really be immersed in. The only real exceptions are the highway showdowns with Bowser and the final showdown with Meowser; that's where the game better flexes its creative muscles with bosses and provides somewhat challenging foes. Still, as far as bosses are concerned, Tropical Freeze has 3D World beat by a long shot. More detailed patterns, far more varying attacks, a higher degree of challenge, and overall being more fun to fight. It's a shame the Wii U did as poorly as it did, and it makes me hope Tropical Freeze will get a Switch re-release. It more than deserves it after people bashed it for "not being Metroid" or being "another cartoony platformer" or, in Gamespot's opinion, having "unimaginative level design."
Not sure why I didn't get really frustrated with the difficult parts in this game. I often died SO MANY TIMES, but I was happy to jump right back into it. Must have been the great music.
because it's fair. other games can feel like their dicking you over with random difficulty spikes but in dkc the challenge is real and fair so you want to keep playing

It fits the whole atmosphere perfectly, which speaking of, the battle itself wasn't too bad either. Maybe a little on the easy side, but for the most part, it was pretty entertaining and I wouldn't mind fighting him over and over again....just for the "HOO!" and/or the music. =P
The funny thing is, the pun only really works in English. For the vast majority of the non-English-speaking population, it literally got lost in translation.

Music is kind of creepy. Be sure to notice how in the cut-scene the smaller minion owls have their heads turned around 180 degrees before their bodies follow. As far as difficulty: patter recognition, people!

Why does everyone think this boss is difficult? It's actually pretty simple, all you need to remember is the execution. It's only REALLY difficult when you're going for an optimal Time Attack time, and this is how it goes: Get Cranky Kong. Walk to the left at the beginning to dodge the first wave of feathers, adjust position if necessary. Walk a little more to the left for the second wave. Roll to the right after the feathers clear out, and jump on the RIGHTMOST egg. I like to time it by jumping right before it hits the ground. Grab the egg, pogo once to the left, throw the egg at the peak of your jump. Bop the second egg, which should have walked to the right of the arena, pogo straight upwards, throw to the left. Bop the third egg, walk briefly to the right, pogo to the right, throw egg. Jump as soon as the barrel cannon is visible. When Skowl starts up the wind, stay in the center of the arena. Bounce on the first egg, then pick it up. Chain bounces off of the Hootzes to land neatly on the second egg. Adjust if necessary. LEAVE THE SECOND EGG ON THE GROUND. Chain bounces off of the second wave of owls, and make sure the egg you left on the ground is not hit by any owls. Before hitting the SECOND OWL of the SECOND WAVE, prepare a pogo off of it, then throw the egg at Skowl. DO NOT HIT SKOWL UNTIL THE THIRD EGG SPAWNS FROM THE LEFT. Neutral bounce (no A press) off of the last owl, land on top of the egg you left on the ground, run to the left, do a full bounce (DO NOT POGO!) off of the egg that just spawned, and throw the egg in your hand at Skowl at the peak of your bounce. Pick up the remaining egg, run to the left, pogo to the left, throw. Enter the barrel cannon like in Phase 1. Dodge the feathers, standard stuff. Keep an eye on Skowl to see where the feathers will go. Dodge/kill the owls with pointy helmets. The final wave of owls will give you 2 eggs. Jump on and grab the first egg, then jump on the second, leaving it on the ground. Pogo to the right and throw it at the peak of your jump. Go back and pick up the second egg. Dodge the falling giant eggs and the Hootzes inside. Skowl should be in the FIFTH falling egg. Where that is depends on what pattern you get. Now there are TWO strategies you can choose, one of which is probably frame-perfect. SAFE WAY: Wait for Skowl's helmet to fall off, then jump on him. Run to the right, pogo, then throw the egg to end the fight. FAST WAY: Jump into the egg from the side as it falls, and hope that you and the egg land on Skowl on the same frame. I'm not skilled enough to be able to do this, let alone have a setup. And that's all there really is to this boss.

Why does everyone think this boss is difficult? It's actually pretty simple, all you need to remember is the execution. It's only REALLY difficult when you're going for an optimal Time Attack time, and this is how it goes:
Get Cranky Kong.
Walk to the left at the beginning to dodge the first wave of feathers, adjust position if necessary.
Walk a little more to the left for the second wave.
Roll to the right after the feathers clear out, and jump on the RIGHTMOST egg. I like to time it by jumping right before it hits the ground.
Grab the egg, pogo once to the left, throw the egg at the peak of your jump.
Bop the second egg, which should have walked to the right of the arena, pogo straight upwards, throw to the left.
Bop the third egg, walk briefly to the right, pogo to the right, throw egg.
Jump as soon as the barrel cannon is visible.
When Skowl starts up the wind, stay in the center of the arena. Bounce on the first egg, then pick it up.
Chain bounces off of the Hootzes to land neatly on the second egg. Adjust if necessary.
LEAVE THE SECOND EGG ON THE GROUND.
Chain bounces off of the second wave of owls, and make sure the egg you left on the ground is not hit by any owls.
Before hitting the SECOND OWL of the SECOND WAVE, prepare a pogo off of it, then throw the egg at Skowl.
DO NOT HIT SKOWL UNTIL THE THIRD EGG SPAWNS FROM THE LEFT.
Neutral bounce (no A press) off of the last owl, land on top of the egg you left on the ground, run to the left, do a full bounce (DO NOT POGO!) off of the egg that just spawned, and throw the egg in your hand at Skowl at the peak of your bounce.
Pick up the remaining egg, run to the left, pogo to the left, throw.
Enter the barrel cannon like in Phase 1.
Dodge the feathers, standard stuff. Keep an eye on Skowl to see where the feathers will go.
Dodge/kill the owls with pointy helmets.
The final wave of owls will give you 2 eggs. Jump on and grab the first egg, then jump on the second, leaving it on the ground. Pogo to the right and throw it at the peak of your jump.
Go back and pick up the second egg.
Dodge the falling giant eggs and the Hootzes inside.
Skowl should be in the FIFTH falling egg. Where that is depends on what pattern you get.
Now there are TWO strategies you can choose, one of which is probably frame-perfect.
SAFE WAY: Wait for Skowl's helmet to fall off, then jump on him. Run to the right, pogo, then throw the egg to end the fight.
FAST WAY: Jump into the egg from the side as it falls, and hope that you and the egg land on Skowl on the same frame. I'm not skilled enough to be able to do this, let alone have a setup.
And that's all there really is to this boss.
