Make take on it, is that Cleon the First, was aware of a common occurrence in history, where a powerful and capable leader, is succeeded by their far less capable descendants and thus everything the leader built or achieved crumbles away. He felt he couldn't trust anyone else with the throne, so he finds away to remain on the throne forever

I stopped watching the series at about episode 3 since it is complete crap and this confirms it. I'm a big fan of the books and I didn't expect a perfect adaptation, but this plot is nonsense. The characters are bland, forgettable, among many other problems. Still I wanted to see if the series somehow miraclously it started to improve so I came for the recap, but nope, still crap. Thanks for the recap anyway.
There are indeed to many privileged whites in this show, but it is still important to highlight the evil of their privilege. Hopefully by the end of the series they will all be dust and the good people can start a new beginning.
Thanks for the Recap, really helped me to save lots of time. This opinion is just about TV show and probably books too. The three emperors have me intrigued, but the foundation thing really sucks, it feels too cheesy, too convient and just way too cheap. Poor work.
Read the original trilogy, instead. It was based on the breakup of the Roman Empire. The Foundation was, in the original books, the _Encyclopedia Galactica_ Foundation, located on Terminus, a colony in the middle-of-nowhere and populated by scientists and scholars. Seldon wasn't a main character except in the first few chapters, his death _of old age_ being noted in the Encyclopedia. The important plot-points in the original Trilogy were the crises faced by Terminus every few centuries, and how they cleverly overcame them. Without an army. "Violence is the 'Last Resort' of the Incompetent," is an important saying of Seldon's, the Foundation's, and the overarching plot. It's something misunderstood yet illustrated indirectly by Asimov throughout the Trilogy. Lastly, just as the Eastern Roman [Byzantine] Empire had General Belisarius in the 6th Century, Asimov gave the crumbling Galactic Empire similar "General-Belisarius-figure". The historical Belisarius was a loyal servant of the Empire and of his emperor, Justinian the Great. He was a brilliant General who retook the lost North-African provinces and the south of Italy[!]. And what did Belisarius want out of it? The Restoration of the Empire. There are, in history, every once in a while, Admirable Figures who Do the Right Thing. And I remember, from when I read it decades ago, that you _wanted_ to root for this General who was trying to hold the Galactic Empire together, while also wanting him to fail because he was a threat to The Foundation. The fact that the show has made The Clone Emperors the Main Characters and relegated The Foundation to Cheesy Irrelevance says everything I need to know about this … "adaptation."
Asimov was a privileged white male, and that's the most important thing that should be highlighted in this show. The privileged must be put to an end and reparations must be paid in full. I'm just disappointed there aren't many gender-neutral characters.
It’s hard to follow when one have read it. I miss the underground Trantor with all the layers with different cultures. And the when they got lost on the steel surface and much more. Ray are from a Gypsy like culture equal to the Gypsy’s that always carry a knife on them. I guess they kept the knife thing. It’s weird that the timeline is so compressed and different
Well it’s called Foundation but is virtually unrecognisable from the original Asimov books. Each to their own however I much prefer the Original story telling.
Yea, I'll give season 2 a second chance but season 1 did not impress me at all. Someone below said that reason the plot and genders were changed is that the book, as written is unfilmable. I tend to agree but the answer was not to mess with the entire plot and characters' gender, but to never film it in the first place. I've read the entire saga 4 times in my lifetime and in hindsight, it would have been better leave it to our imaginations. Season 1 was nearly unwatchable. Forget the series people and read the books. They are richer than any series or FX can portray.
Good recap. The show, unfortunately, has far too (over) complicated a plot for me, but I just wanted to reinforce my own impressions. Won't be watching season 2.
There are so many things out of context that the whole recap makes no sense. Many important things are mentioned but not explained and just thrown in. I hate to be so negative but as a recap to fully comprehend season one this is totally useless...
My god, they completely mangled the original books … and completely unnecessarily, at that. The original Foundation Trilogy was more than ready for a show, would require very, very few tweaks to the original plot, and _still_ had space in its plot to insert action and intrigue in the form of the first 2 centuries of the breakup of the Empire. Well, this saves me from wasting time watching what isn't even an adaptation, but an idea based on a summary written on a dirty paper-napkin of Isaac Asimov's actual Foundation series.

What a mess. This recap reaffirms to me that this show has very good ideas (the Cleons, making some characters female, the visuals), but is a mess of lazy plots. Seldon resurrected?? Gtfo.
This show is real good especially that guy Lee but that woman they pick come on man wrong person for the partall I see is like woke agenda in this it's happening in almost in every show come on is Nicki played out by now😅
What the hell was Asimov thinking ? Talk about complicating a thin-as-gruel tale with ridiculous names and ideas. I think stories like the Three Body Problem are much better.

Okay , new to apple tv so new to the show .. promo pics looked good , Really was hoping to like but from the trailer cud tell .. this show a nonsensical mish mash of already used materials in attempt to give the effect of / Appear creative .. no clear storyline .. they just speaking bunch of mumbo jumbo .. no interest in follwing .. brain hurts like stuck a fork n twirled into spaghetti 🤪🤨😐😵😵💫🤯😶🌫️
What a mess. This recap reaffirms to me that this show has very good ideas (the Cleons, making some characters female, the visuals), but is a mess of lazy plots. Seldon resurrected?? Gtfo.
This show is real good especially that guy Lee but that woman they pick come on man wrong person for the partall I see is like woke agenda in this it's happening in almost in every show come on is Nicki played out by now😅
wtf
I read the books many years ago. Great books. WTF IS ALL THIS BS???
Glad I watched this - saved me a ton of wasted time and lame wokeness.
Boring.
Thanks
still impress how woke garbage is everywhere... did the show runner read the books!!! another classic ruinned for the modern audience.
What the hell was Asimov thinking ? Talk about complicating a thin-as-gruel tale with ridiculous names and ideas. I think stories like the Three Body Problem are much better.
Too bad dune and foundation is a woke
Hh
Another thing style rings of power style dune! Asimov remove in its tombv! The progre propaganda go on!
