I've made chicken noodle soup for over 50 years and us old folks like to say to cook the chicken with the bone in it "for medicinal purposes." No scientific studies at all, just Grandma said so, that's why. I picked up a tip or two watching this but I do have to say that I cook my noodles on the side, just not mushy and add at the final 10 minutes. Always good to see how someone else makes something.
I love homemade chicken soup. I don't think I ever make it the same why twice. I just made some a couple of days ago. I added lots of cabbage to mine. I no longer eat pasta due to health issues, but sometimes I'll add a can of garbanzo beans to the soup. They have a texture that I like and they also soak up the flavor of the broth. Chicken is a great addition to a weight loss diet---healthy, filling and a real comfort food that your body loves.
Hello, just wondering you said you don't use pasta for health reasons? I have just got diagnosed with IBS and colitis and pasta seems to stop me up it's awfully painful diagnoses is that why you don't use pasta? I love cabbage also and just got some today, I'm thinking about not putting noodles in mine as well for health reasons, but I've never had it this way and dang it I love noodles but how is it with just cabbage and no noodles? If you could get back to me that would be great God bless.

Good morning Becky. I love soup, I’ve never eaten one I don’t like. Chicken noodle soup is one of my favorites. I hope you have a very blessed New Year. I’m hopeful for better days ahead this year. God bless you and your family. ❤
I always boil my chicken so that I have that good rich hearty bone, skin, and fat Broth! That's what makes your soup so good! I do mine almost exactly like you're making yours! I do add seasonings but only a few because the Broth, Chicken, Veggies, Salt and Pepper add about all the Flavor you need! I made a huge Pot the day after Christmas! After all that rich food and sweets of Christmas, I just wanted a good hot bowl of some good ole Chicken Noodle Soup! I did use Egg Noodles because we like them and I have several bags in my Pantry! When I find anything on sale, I buy all I can, even if we don't eat it much because I have a big family and they're always needing something or maybe one of my Neighbors! I do like making Gift Baskets if someone is not feeling well to kind of help them out! My Granddaughter, her husband and both of her Babies are all sick with the Flu. The baby (1yr old boy) came down sick Christmas morning and her (2yr old daughter), her hubby and herself all were sick by Christmas night! They all 4 in the ER Christmas Night with the Flu... They're still very sick. Please Pray for them. Another Granddaughter broke her Jaw Tooth Friday afternoon late and has been in horrific pain since! She went to ER and they gave her an Antibiotic and Motrin 600mg for pain. She has 3 babies herself and her hubby is out of town. Please keep her in your prayers also. Thank you Becky! Happy New Year! God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤
I have started buying those 10# bags of chicken leg quarters and roasting it up in a roasting pan with a bit of rotisserie seasoning on each piece and I dump in the fat pieces to give the liquid this makes after it is all cooked. I will either stack the quarters in whole or cut the legs apart from them so it is easier to move the pieces around to fit. Cover and roast at 425 degrees for 80 to 90 minutes depending on the thickness of the meat on the bones. I usually default to 99 minutes. I pull the roaster out at the end of the time and take the lid and set it ajar to the pan and let it all cool for a bit. Once cooled down will use a baking sheet as a work surface to bring the quarters out to and will debone all of them breaking the chicken into bite sized pieces then putting into a bowl for later. Once everything is deboned will work at saving the stock it creates in cooking. Will fish out any fat or skin pieces left in it then will save it off into 2 cup containers and freeze it until needed for a casserole or other recipes. It makes some of the richest stock I have ever had the pleasure of using. Is a great stock base with which to use in chicken pot pie. Most times one bag makes between 4 & 6 pounds of chicken. I bag it in freezer bags getting the air out of them and pressing them flat so they will defrost after being frozen a bit quicker than if it is in a giant lump of chicken. Freeze it all up for recipes all for about $8 total. Takes about 20 minutes of prep and another 20 minutes of deboning and packaging to finish this not accounting for the cooking time.
That's a great idea! I use a vacuum sealer for bulk cooking. You can even make homemade TV dinners with them and they taste fresh. I'll share the link below. Thank you for sharing! God bless you! th-cam.com/video/tDUOcG5Yyzk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Nbp_1lLQkjpo1igM
That’s good you prepare the leg quarter that way . Because from my experience those bag leg qtr tend to have lots of fat and can make your soup greasy .
I have boiled a whole chicken removed it and if I have time I leave the liquid overnight to cool and then skim off all the fat the next day . Then I use this to make my soup. The rotisserie chicken seems like a good way if you’re in a hurry.
I love Chicken Noodle soup with the 🍋 juice. It makes the soup so good. I use spaghetti noodles and break them. Growing up , when we didn't feel good... Mama made a pot of Potato 🥔 soup. I love it ❤ to this day. Happy New Year 2025 🎉🎉🎉🎉. God bless you and all here ❤ ✝️ 🙏

There is nothing better than homemade soup and yours looks awesome. When I shortcut and use a rotisserie chicken from the store I pull almost all the meat off the chicken , set it aside then boil the whole bird carcass to get those wonderful flavors into the soup then add the rest. The bones really makes a difference in the flavor. I love the garlic in my soup too.

Hi Becky, I always make my egg noodles from scratch. This is very easy with flour, egg and egg yolk and salt. It makes my homemade chicken noodle soup extra special. I cut the noodles with a pizza cutter after I roll them out.
I’ve been making homemade chicken noodle soup for a long time and I’ve used chicken leg quarters in it to stretch food $. My sister taught me this recipe and she didn’t use any spices except salt/pepper. But the onions, celery and carrots and bone in chicken broth gave it all the flavor it needed. We sliced our celery and carrots about 1/4 inch thick and had big chunks of chicken, I love it chunky. She passed away this July and I’ve always thought of her when I made it. This reminded me of her. Thank you for sharing this recipe, it is very good and tastes so much better than canned chicken noodle soup.
I'm more of a broth soup than cream of soup. Broth can be drank anytime and noodle, vegetables, spices are just a bonus Didn't need to smell that soup in you video, my eyes were "smelling" for me !!! Thank you and God Bless.
We always used thick cut kluski noodles at our restaurant. Egg noodles can break down easily. What I found that is so good is fettuccine noodles broken thirds. Your soup looks wonderful. I can't wait to try it. You have different seasonings than I have ever used or seen in chicken noodle soup. The honey and the lemon, for instance. I love the method that you use for cooking your chicken and collecting the broth. I just learned something new today by that.
This is how I make my Chicken Noodle Soup, like you do. Buying a deli chicken or can chicken just don’t give you that wonderful broth that’s needed for this soup. Make me want to some right now. Yummy 😋
I love making homemade chicken soup, sometimes its rice, sometimes its noodle, egg noodle or broken up angel hair pasta. Great either way. Tons of carrots!!! My favorite herb is marjorim and if i dont have chicken stock i make some with soup base.
Thanks for the different techniques such as the butter and saute celery and onions first and the poultry seasoning. That sounds like a good change! I'm not sure about the honey but I'll definitely add the lemon juice! 😊

I have used the leftover bones from a rotisserie chicken and cut up little pieces from it and it was so good. Thank you. That is going to be good soup. My dog likes cooked celery and its good for her. I like noodles cooked separate though.
Oh, I need to see that one as well. I've been dealing with health issues & haven't been watching the videos like I used to. But I've never done cheese & broccoli soup before. Think I'll get some bread bowls from Panera (I think they sell only bread bowls) to have to add the soup in. 😋. Thanks

That looks delicious Becky 😋. Thank you , I'm gonna make that recipe for sure and it's cold out there. My sister makes homemade chicken noodle soup , just her and her husband now and whatever is leftover she freezes it in separate bag's or containers for the next they want soup. That's what I'll do to for me and my hubby with your recipe. I can't wait to try it!

Great recipe, if the texture of celery bothers you (like me) - my mom used to use a potato peeler and just remove the hard skin side of the celery before cooking it. It also make it a lot less stringy on large pieces. God Bless.

I think I'll try this with leftover turkey and frozen carrots. I usually try and use what I have in hand, but have made it all from scratch start to finish.

My grandma taught me a celery secret 🤭 Just cut off the leafy part of a 2 or 3 stalks and pull them out at the end before serving 😃 Works every time 🤫🤭❤️
Happy New Year, Mz Becky! Perfect timing with this video, I've got two turkey carcasses with four legs from the holidays sitting in the freezer. Went looking around YT for an interesting recipe and up came your video. I'm going to try this out on the weekend since it's going to be in the 20s here in Michigan. Not sure if I'll use rotini or Moderna stars for pasta. We'll see what my elderly father likes better. The soup sounds great and will go well with fresh stovetop cornbread.
I shred my carrots so they cook fast. We have a cutting board for each different use. They’re color coded so we know which one to use. Red glass one is for raw meat, white glass for cooked meat, green plastic for veggies. Blue plastic for odd things. And a small red one for dicing onions, celery etc. where we don’t need a larger one.
Thank you! God bless you! A lot of people say that they don't see the new videos when they're posted. We remastered chicken and biscuits. Please check it out if you haven't already! th-cam.com/video/tFGKAmSNDqc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Np01lI77E_wUG16M

I have used the leftover bones from a rotisserie chicken and cut up little pieces from it and it was so good. Thank you. That is going to be good soup. My dog likes cooked celery and its good for her. I like noodles cooked separate though.
Thank you for watching! God bless you!
Hi Becky, funny am watching your video for cheddar broccoli soup.😅❤
Oh, I need to see that one as well. I've been dealing with health issues & haven't been watching the videos like I used to.
But I've never done cheese & broccoli soup before. Think I'll get some bread bowls from Panera (I think they sell only bread bowls) to have to add the soup in. 😋. Thanks
But I will be trying this homemade chicken soup. Thank you for all your great recipes! Praise the lord for all what you do.😊❤
Thank you for watching! God bless you
@snowblo1 I'll pray for you. Here is the broccoli soup. Thank you for watching and God bless you!

Right weather for it

Becky, thank you for sharing this yummy recipe.

Great recipe, if the texture of celery bothers you (like me) - my mom used to use a potato peeler and just remove the hard skin side of the celery before cooking it. It also make it a lot less stringy on large pieces. God Bless.
❤Yummy Becky, and SO MUCH BETTER THAN ANY STORE BOUGHT CAN SOUP!! ❤ Thank You for Sharing!! 😊 Winter Just Officially Started but I UNDERSTAND. 😅love that 99th wk. of January!! 😊 God Bless You All Always & Much Love from MO.. Enjoy Soup and Then a Snuggly Cover & Watch Some More Christmas Movies!! ❤

I think I'll try this with leftover turkey and frozen carrots. I usually try and use what I have in hand, but have made it all from scratch start to finish.

My grandma taught me a celery secret 🤭
Just cut off the leafy part of a 2 or 3 stalks and pull them out at the end before serving 😃
Works every time 🤫🤭❤️

I remember back " in the olden days", my mother would always add vegetable flakes. Really helped with the stock. IDK if they still sell them.

Hi there, I miss you so much, Becky. I hope you & the family are well. Chicken noodles soup sounds so good. Here in Wisconsin & it's cold.
We're doing well and hope you are too. 😊 Thank you! God bless you!

Thank you! God bless you!
Been sick since Christmas Eve…been craving soup! Now if someone else could just make it!

Try it out Ma'am God bless you ❤❤❤❤
I'll have to try that. Thank you for watching! God bless you!
That's a great idea. Thank you for watching! God bless you!
Delicious yummy 😋👍👍
