- I never got the chance to show you guys how GDLK Dark Sakura is in Marvel vs Capcom 2. She is considered top tier in Japan, so I'm going to play her to see why! Let me know in the comments below what you think of her and where you would place Dark Sakura in your tierlist!

justin’s mastery of mvc2 really is crazy to think about. the amount of characters/teams/assists in this game is unreal and justin can competently play just about all of them. the michael jordan of marvel.

Dark Sakura is my favorite character in MVC2.
MVC2 also has my favorite iteration of Sakura.

I guess I never really seen people play with Dark Sakura before, but her chip dmg looks nuts. Can we see how she works in a chip-heavy team? Maybe something like Sakura, Silver Sam, and Doom?

@@matthewzakrzewski1797 I could see BH working, doing his FP/RK demon zoning with Doom rocks to build meter for Inferno>HOD>DHC into dark Sak. I wouldn't trust either Sakura or Doom assists to work well enough as a DP for Spiral sword zoning, but my Spiral was pretty garbage, so maybe I'm just blind 🤷♂️
@@Ash__Adler tbf, spiral usually doesnt care for AA assist since she just wants constant pressure for the gameplan. Only dp assists that help with pressure (ie cable or psylocke) are desired, so idk if sak fits the bill there

I have a deep love for MvC2, I would hit up every marvel cabinet I saw as a kid and spend all my quarters- whether it was cota, X-Men vs SF, or anything else... I'm a super casual player and I'm happy to have it back in my collection, but I realized after watching these lists all the characters I play are usually C Tier.
I don't know if it's just my play style, but it's probably just the characters I loved as a kid because of how they looked and stuff.
I actually NEVER play the top tier teams, but to each their own, it wasn't intentional. Thanks for the vids Justin as always!

it's about time this character got more recognition
and for anybody who doesn't know, the cost of making her playable was the 3 meter transportation
considering it's a pretty significant buff, it's worth it
initially, she was a hidden character in MSHvSF, but, much like MechaGief, her inclusion in this game was changed to a transformation super
much like how they compensated for not having Ken or Akuma in MvC with Ryu's Mode Change supers
Dark Sakura in mainline Street Fighter canon is pretty much Sakura's inner potential that has a mind of it's own. In Volume 1 of Sakura Ganbaru, Dark Sakura's pretty much what allowed her to unleash a full-power Hadoken with ease, and later on not only make absurd comebacks against Karin and Maki (hence the two's shock once they see Sakura act seemingly on instinct alone), but also foresee and make a counter to EVERY MOVE HER OPPONENT IS GOING TO MAKE BEFORE THEY EVEN MAKE IT. Not only that, remember the Midare Zakura? Sakura's version of Ken's Shoryureppa? Well, guess what?
In the manga, when Ken & Sakura confronted each other, it's possible that Sakura was in her Dark form the ENTIRE TIME (how else would she be able to keep up with Ryu's best friend, after all). Not only was she able to take being sent into a fence like it was NOTHING, but when their fight reached the tops of buildings, Sakura ripped out that Super Move to break FIVE OF KEN'S RIBS. Amazing how Ken was still able to eat dinner afterwards.

Dark Sakura definitely feels like a top tier character but is so expensive to activate her...
I keep thinking of initiating with another character and changing during the fight to make the transition safer, but to let go of a top assist for it feels even more expensive than the 3 bars...
I run Capcom Iron Man Sakura, commando having his own assists helps alot...
Something I noticed was that Ruby assist work extremely well for Ryu because of his poor fireball durability. So glad to see Suntanned Sakura putting in work!

Giving regular characters dark powers is probably one of the most satisfying things in fighting games. They're usually insanely strong and have interesting stories. Devil Jin in Tekken 5 comes to mind.

Sunkissed Sakura is amazing, but resource intensive because of her 3bar transformation, which was the main issue I had with her, so I always ran her with Storm, been thinking about trying her out with like Spiral or Commando.
I actually do Spiral/Sakura/Sentinel but tbh I’m not that good lol

Dark Sakura is my fave MvC2 character. Dark Sakura in UMvC3 is cool and all but the easy 50% combos, a broken teleport, and fun normals and personality make the MvC2 version so goated. I even got her stickered on my DJ set

I'm not a big fighting game player, but I've always loved Sakura. Even more so when I played as Dark Sakura in Marvel Heroes VS SF. It was a treat to get her in MVC2, even at her insane cost. Now I understand why I did decently with her without any real fighting game knowledge. I just love her. 😆🖤

I was there when this game debuted I'm arcades. With the tier point system and some curating, this game can be revived as one of the greatest fighting games for FGC. I think with a studio that cares and gets rollback net code, they could have a serious online ranked experience on PC or console. I can believe how good and fresh this game feels so many years after it's release. I love it.
Everybody will play the robot, storm, and magnito. and some cable mixed in between. Is that what would sell!

I spent hours upon hours fighting Dark Sakura. And also "Asura Senkuu" doesn't have a weak point like Akuma does. What has caused more than one controversy.

@@phil4863 I actually played a burnt CD copy of the playstation SFA3 port on Bleem, because I didn't have a playstation. So I mastered Sakura's movements on a keyboard. Actually, it made some super special combos easier, especially for characters with charge moves. I knew about Evil Ryu but I never was able to unlock him. I never made the connection between sun-tanned Sakura and Evil Ryu, even though I know that Evil Ryu also has darker skin. Btw, I played MvC2 on the Dreamcast, but the Dreamcast controller was awful on my index fingers, due to the trigger-like L and R buttons on the back of the controller. Sorry for the long reply, but it's fun to talk about.

I love this! Justin - question for you: if Rogue steals from Dark Sakura, does she then get "power up" instead of speed or defense or whatever? As far as I know, Rogue doesn't get power up from a single female character in the game, but I don't know about Dark Sakura. Oh, and maybe if a female character first gets boosted from Ruby Heart's power up assist, Rogue might then get power up from them. Not sure about either.

In Philippines we would actually be friends the owner and asking them to adjust to damage one so a lot of my friends would hang out to their arcade after school. Some who are more greedy will make the game damage higher thus a couple of air combo makes you loose 3/4 of your HP and that cabinet would eat dust all day long. Same to those who would set extreme difficult to games like gigawing ( damn those owners, that's where the tingting & piso hack was invented only OG filipino knows what this hack on arcade is 😂🤣😂🤣)

The way I’d have raging demon hit every time I’d have max level get guile to do his giant blade special with opponent having his feet on the ground and not bouncing on the blade the have Akuma up next on tag and as guile is slicing and dicing do the button combos to Akumas raging demon and it hits every single time I’d main (guile/akuma/Jin)
