    The price isn’t as important as quality is. Aldi beats Walmart hands down. Budget matters, but you need to take into consideration the quality because that directly impacts your health.

    • @Westfam12
      @Westfam12 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Everyone always thinks because Aldis is so much cheaper, that the quality is not good. That’s in fact not true as their business model is much different than many companies that allows their prices to be so low. You should take a look at it sometime.

    • @RogerKnowsTech
      @RogerKnowsTech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It does! “Quality” matters the most only after you are a healthy weight not obese or using any substances like alcohol or tobacco. If you are over weight paying for “top quality” marketed products but are unhealthy weight your body doesn’t know the difference. You would still be unhealthy. Aldi, Walmart and most other major chains all supply “quality” food approved by the FDA. If you eat out or go to a restaurant I assume you only guessing how much “quality” their products are or believing in their marketing.

    You didn't do a full apples to apples comparison. There is cheaper bacon at Aldi. Also, for ground beef, you had round from Walmart and chuck from Aldi. For shredded cheese, why didn't you grab the 16oz bag from Aldi? They do have that same size. You also had gala versus honey crisp apples which definitely makes a difference.

Eggs, Keto bread, chicken, a few types of cookies for the kid. Butter, some other meats. Few other stuff. After we checked out I thought it would be $340+. When it came out to $176 I was floored. Great video. I've done my math at my local stores though, and Walmart won mostly because if you have to buy bulk of several items (eggs, chicken, beef, etc) it winds up being much cheaper as Walmart has bulk options that come out to less per unit while at Aldi you just have to buy more units to get the amount you need.

    I tend to shop at Costco, Winco and Smart and Final. Each store has certain things that are much cheaper than the other stores. We do have an Aldi, but to be honest it's out of the way, and I don't think I would save that much compared to what I'm saving by buying at the other stores, and the produce was much better quality at my Winco and Costco.
    There were things I would definitely buy if I were in an aldi's, and I respect their commitment to having cleaner ingredients. I might have to give it another try.

Factor in fuel costs and that could be the deciding factor for me. Aldi won for some of the items by about cents. Plus quality of taste for me is huge. I spend most of my food cost at the local supermarket and support the local owner. I may spend a little more but I get better quality with the local owner.

The time I can save with having someone else do my shopping, bagging and loading into my car and then the added savings of not walking around the store and buying other things I don't need, is definitely worth the small price difference. I also don't have to worry about bad weather. I just drive up and let them load it all into my car. They are all so very kind and helpful.

    Aldi's prices on most item's was good enough to justify shopping there first like in this video but there limited floor space meant they only had so many items to sell & best selling items sold out quickly. You often had to go to Walmart 2nd just to pick up the items you couldn't get at Aldi.

    Great video, Rachel! But you just confirmed what we already knew LOL We shop at BOTH stores, but over the past 2 years, we find ourselves buying more and more of our groceries at Aldi. Not just because the cost is lower, but because the quality is superior. We made a deep-dish pizza yesterday and realised that EVERYTHING we used (including the deep-dish pizza pan) came from Aldi. Tonight - we did General Tso's chicken... with the honey-battered chicken tenders & sauce (and veggies) from Aldi... actually, the only thing NOT from Aldi tonight was the sticky rice we used... ANYHOW... the meat at Aldi is SUPERB - it beats most of the local mainstream grocery stores around here, and the price is comparable or less (Wahlburgers Burgers & Pickles for $4 less than the cheapest local stores that offer them)... Aldi's becoming our go-to store!

    As was stated by a previous poster, Appleton Farms is the Aldi bacon brand and is cheaper than Jamestown Brand. Also, "we did the math" on the rice is a pretty sad statement when Wal-Mart is .72 per pound vs Aldi at .63 per pound, so Aldi wins the rice not Wal-Mart.

    There are many things we can't get at Aldi so when I am out of those items, I will shop at Walmart for everything, even those less expensive at Aldi. My time is worth something and I don't want to shop at multiple stores in one day. There are many items chosen in this video that were not "apples to apples" comparisons so one needs to pay attention to what they buy. I think that is the end point-be aware of prices and quantities. One more thing-it's cheaper and healthier to buy a block of cheese and shred it yourself. Less additives. Check the labels.

      Do your own test. I have found that shopping at Aldi is substantially cheaper. You have to discover which of their products you like and which you don't. I like some better than the name brands. They have good chocolate, good cookies, good cheese, lunch meats and refrigerated pizzas. Of course the pizza isn't as good as take-out, but it's so cheap.

    You compared Perdue chicken vs. Aldi. Is that a fair comparison? Perdue is always more. The prices in my area are quite different. That surprised me. And comparing how full the bags of spinach are didn't make sense. Go by weight. Still a really good video. Important to check out prices I found out!

    Thanks for this video Rachel! We don't have an aldi anywhere within several hours of my town but I've heard TH-camr's talk about it and have wondered what I'm missing out on! It's good to know it seems like not missing out on a whole lot, although I would still shop there if I could because we kind of despise Walmart :)
    Just have to point out though, you compared size 2 diapers from Walmart to size 3 diapers from aldi. The prices per diaper are different across sizes. So Aldi would have been cheaper by 1 cent per diaper if compared to the sz 3 diapers from Walmart shown in the vid 🙂

      Yes!! We are a clean eating family of 4 and our boys have huge appetites. Expensive or not we won't compromise on eating nutrient dense food. I do meal plan and shop sales, and yes our grocery bill is high, but we know it's worth it in the end. I know it's not affordable for everyone but if grocery money is really a concern maybe things like ice cream should be cut out. There was only 2 organic food items listed here. I still like this channel but was disappointed in this video.

We also like the channel and Rachel's many other helpful videos.

  • @totoroben

    Another thing of note: Aldi store brand is better than Walmart great value brand most of the time (except for cereal). Sometimes the Aldi brands surpass the name brands, such is the case with choceur chocolate vs Hershey's. Even if costs were equal, Aldi would win in overall quality.

  • @robertpace4913
