Hello. What kind of wheel are you using on your grinder? We are preparing our (previously covered with linoleum) wood subfloor for new flooring and like your technique. Thank you.
It is 5-11A Dewalt grinder. If you have lots of patience, better pull out all staples, because they make tons of sparkles and it is dangerous. Here is the cheapest variant how to check your level: Pull a rope across the room at floor level. If you see any gaps - here are the low spots. Check your level from different points of the room. If you have more questions, please feel free. Good luck in your project!

Hi, thank you for the fast reply. If hit, can nails damage double row diamond cup blade? I can't remove them all, don't want to spend $100 on a blade and break it on the first nail head.
Dima Gapkaloff i used the dewalt diamond cup and i nicked nails and screws often. Still working fine. In this scenario, he doesn’t seem to be removing a lot of material, just creating smooth/oil free surface. If nails are properly set in the floor, you should be fine. Hope that helps
Appreciate your effort, but wonder why you spend 2 minutes just to show someone grinding the subfloor? Wouldn't 30 seconds have sufficed? Also, actual instruction by words would be nice.
So I live in a double wide OSB flooring as I was ripping up the old floor a chunk of OSB came up with it, the chunk got swept away on clean up, can I fill it with epoxy or wood glue?
David Pierson I actually used Bondo for that. I didn't want to use a cement-based leveler because the OSB is pretty flexible and I didn't want the floor to crackle later. Bondo worked great.
earthbound7711 Just out of curiousity, do you think my little 7 amp 4 1/2" Milwaukee grinder can handle that kind of blade? The blade costs about as much as my grinder.
Is that just a regular 7-10A disc grinder? Also, what kind of pad are you using? I am putting a piece of luan over the plywood subfloor. The subfloor has tons of staples stuck in it from when the old luan was pulled up. There was a water leak. I want to install click laminate flooring but I'm not sure how perfect the floor has to be.
I have a 2nd level plywood subfloor with several high spots i need to grind down. I have a 7" ridgid R2010 i'd like to use but i think i'll need a dust shroud and a double row blade. Looks like about 200.00??? thats more than the grinder!!! Any advice?
I used a 21" belt sander with 35 grit paper. I removed its dust bag and rigged it to my ShopVac. Worked great for sanding, but didn't suck nearly all the sawdust. I still had to vacuum regularly.

I have watched many of your videos and wonder if your procedure with a grinder and diamond wheel works on OSB subfloor.
+Stefan M I didn't do it. Try!

MrYoucandoityourself so how do you address low spots on a plywood subfloor?
I know this video was long time ago but nowadays do we have better technology to get this done?

apparently he needed you to help produce it! give er a go yourself sometime....we'll judge how you do!!!
Have you used diamond wheel on OSB plywood or something else? Thanks
Yes I used turbo grinding wheel , It’s working very well and also floor edger.
Is there an advantage of using an orbital sander over a belt sander for what you're doing?
What type of grinder wheel is that

Hi David, what you are going to install over OSB?
wood or laminate
For floating type of installation you can fill with concrete too.
David Pierson I actually used Bondo for that. I didn't want to use a cement-based leveler because the OSB is pretty flexible and I didn't want the floor to crackle later. Bondo worked great.
What's the tool called that you're using to chisel the drywall out at hardwood level?
It is a Fein Multimaster
What is the attachment on the 5 gallon bucket? Looking for something like that and can't find anything.
Oneida cyclone dust collector.
Не первый раз вижу у Вас такой способ шлифовки. А если это 100 и больше кв.м. Почему не hummel? возможно дорогая аренда?
Если надо много sanding я использую floor edger.
What attachment do you have on the grinder and what kind of sanding disk are you using?
I use Dust Shroud for Hand Grinders with Double Row blade.
MrYoucandoityourself Thank you kindly!

MrYoucandoityourself What is a double row blade? They looked at me strangely when I asked at HD.
Will this grind off the staples left in the floor as well?
It's cleanup floor completely.

You can rent an edger for wood floor in Home Depot for several hours, so you'll save money and make a necessary job.
Thanks very much. Found that out by reviewing your other vids.

Hey buddy, check your email I sent you some questions. Thank you
Ok, I'll do it.
