- G'day everyone! In my previous episode, I kayaked this area and realised the last pool, which had produced the majority of the action, was accessible land based...in this episode I go back during the week, after work, to try get a couple of fish.
This goes to show that kayaking a system can also help you find good land based spots.
Rod: MajorCraft Volkey BFS VKC-652UL | 6’5” | 3-10lb | 1/32-1/4oz
Reel: 2011 Shimano Chronarch 51E (Fully Avail tuned)
Line: Gosen DIVERxBK - PE1.0 | 17lb
Leader: Nomad copolymer - 0.33mm | 20lb
Lure: Biovex Joint Bait 72 - 72mm | 7.0gr
Another great session mate ... really am digging that creek so picturesque. Keep up the good work
Thanks mate, yeah I really can’t complain about the variety and beauty of most of our waterways
Nice little cheeky sesh mate. The Volkey looks like a BFS rod made for more beefy species, like our river bass. It was good to see how it loads up during action 💯💥
Yeah, I’m in love with the 3 elements in this video…the rod, as you said, it’s finesse enough but powerful enough too (I’ve caught soots on it too so it’s been properly tested), the reel is just beautiful and have you heard that sharp click when you engage the spool after casting? It’s so small but it feels so solid at the same time 👌🏼👌🏼 and the lure, well, what I’m going to say about the lure…it was a gift from you! (And from Kelvin previously in a different colour).
That reel looks so awesome
Thanks Jacob, yeah I’m in love with it. The sharp sound as you engage the spool after casting is sooo good 👌🏼👌🏼
The chest camera does help appreciate a nice reel…I should do more land based videos with chest camera when using my unique build reels, they certainly become the star of the show
@@Off_The_Top_Fishing yea landbased is good, more related to more people. Did you see the finesse angler do a landbased bass video a couple of days ago? Worth watching
Another great video, love the gear you use. When you say “fully avail tuned”, are you buying these reels tuned or are you specking them up yourself?
Thanks mate, this reel has a long list of modifications done to it, if you jump onto my Facebook page you’ll see my reel modding posts where I list them all and explain the process. I’ll try to leave a link here to the Chronarch build:

Nice video Ramon 🤙 I have one of those little swim baits. Nice little action one them. I find that if i dont hold the tip of the rod really low when it gets closer to me on the retrieve it tips on its side a bit if that makes sense. Its not really an issue but I bought some little stick on weights of different sizes and im going to see how that goes and it might be cool to try to get a slowish sink on it.
Thanks Mark! Yeah I know what you mean, not as noticeable when on the yak as you’re in a lower position but I noticed that land based too.
Biovex sell stick on weights and they have a couple of TH-cam videos where they show you which one you should use and where exactly on the lure you should put it depending the size of your lure.
Next week I’ll upload a video where I’m using the 90mm version which I must admit I like better than the 72mm. I do have one or two 110mm ones coming in my next Zenmarket order too 😇
@@Off_The_Top_Fishing nice! I'll check it out. I can't remember the brand the weights are but maybe they are the same brand👍
All my tackle boxes start off really organized and after one or two fishing trips they look like your tackle box.😢
Haha I finally found a good way to organise my funky shaped lures, check out this link to my Facebook page…video was recorded a week or so before receiving the new boxes
