So jealous of Matty getting to watch T2 for the first time.
Same
I was about to say the same. All those movies he can experience for the first time, I am really jealous!
It won’t hit the same as living through it in real time and seeing all the toys/merchandise and hysteria. Childhood added magic that’s impossible to feel as an adult. He’ll never TRULY understand “Ahl be bah-ck”😎
The Terminator is arguably the best low-budget sci-fi thriller ever made. You have to understand and appreciate how low budget The Terminator is. It's not a Galaxy Of Terror budget but it's still cheaper than Star Wars. I think Cameron did PHENOMENALLY for that budget.
No. Considering where Kyle is from, his love for Sarah was not creepy. You have to remember that John made his mom out to be a legendary figure on top of that picture. Besides, women in the 1980s didnt look at love and relationships like you are now programmed to. They actually like the fantasy of men pining away for them.
Obligatory “Bro you haven’t watched this??” comment lol keep it up Matty love the vids
It does honestly suprise a 30yr bloke ain't seen them tho. Especially with there mum or dad when they were young. You'd really have to try hard to avoid it. It's like saying you've never played a sonic or mario game
@@imbatman6029exactly, like how
It's kind of sad that he doesn't like the stop motion special effects very much. Yes they're not realistic but they have more charm than the best CGI in the world can provide.
Obligatory "T2 is better" lol
Love you guys
It really is tough. The original is amazing, and really was ground breaking, but T2 was legendary.
False but 2 is great
@@yaboiflats6986 Each to their own, but literally every aggregate site says you're the minority opinion
This and T2 is what I’ve been waiting for..
Hot take Matty and Comments.
This is the best Terminator movie, hands down. I love the slasher vibe and horror aspect of this. I used to love Terminator 2 as a kid, but when I got older, I appreciated the first one. So now I rank T1 above T2.
Also I have a soft spot for Terminator 3
I'm with you 100% on this. I would watch T2 over and over, and considered it better and my favorite movie. It's still amazing, but there's really something special about T1.
T2 is more entertaining but as I get older I enjoy this movie more. It is the better movie
Matty, those future scenes look weird because they're a mixture of different sized/scaled miniatures! I think they still look great.
Oooooh! That's neat.
Good idea to announce next weeks movies here. I will be watching these movies again with Matty!
One of the best behind the scenes stories about Terminator is that, as mentioned, Arnold wasn't the first choice to play the Terminator... because originally the Terminator was an infiltration model that was supposed to blend in with normal people so it could get into resistance cells and destroy them from within. Lance Henriksen was in the running for that version of the character... until Cameron saw Arnold and decided to change up the core idea completely. Needless to say, that shifted a few things around and definitely led to a very different film. (But Lance Henriksen still got to be in it, which is great for a few reasons... he holds some interesting movie records because of it... but you'll have to see a few more of the classics before you can really appreciate those notes...)
Arnold also said that OJ Simpson was in the running to play the Terminator, but got passed on because “nobody could believe him to be a cold killer”
Man, I wonder what Matty's opinion on the original Blade Runner would be
Oh man I hope he watches that
Definitely gonna be a toss up on if he'll hate it or love it for its confusing nature. I think if he watches the original and 2049 back to back, then he'll love it as much as I do. 2049 is such a perfect sequel in how much it elevates the original (regardless of how great the og already is).
@@GhostlyGrimace yeah it has potential for both which is why I'm really curious
This is weird to say but I am so glad that Maddie didn't watch any movies growing up because it is so awesome to hear him talk about these movies like brand new. I was for sure that he knew about the robot skeleton and that kind of reveal wouldn't really be anything for him but somehow he avoided it and it ended up being surprising. Keep watching my favorite movies because I love hearing a new person's perspective that really enjoys Cinema rather than one of the kids these days that doesn't really care about it cuz it's old
Matty, please read.
I remember the day Fallout 4 released. I was 13. And me and my friend was watching the special videos while the gane installed on my xbox. After that I looked up fallout 4 and I found your channel. Fallout 4 changed my life. I loved the music and the world. I eventually went back and played the others. I’ve been watching you since I was 13. I have many blindspots like sonic and pokemon oblivion but no matter what I watch almost every video. When you start your retro rebound I loved that. Im quite a bit younger but Im a nostalgic guy. Every day im excited to watch your matty videos and your retro videos. Even if its a game i never played I still watch. I bet you have bigger fans but great job on your content and your vibe is great. You’re a honest reviewer and sometimes you’re not extremely harsh like to starfield but you’re more even tempered. You take every gane for what it is. If something is bad then you will tell us. This channel has been great! I’ve watched most of these movies but hearing your thoughts are great I can’t believe this channel doesn’t have more subs. I’m rambling but as a random viewer i wanted to say thank you and great job.
I don't want to set an expectation, but next comes arguably the greatest sequel of all time. No milk. The only thing you have to give them a bit of leeway on is the date (you'll see). everything else though...😍
Also I'm sure patrons are suggesting it, but Robocop needs to be soon!
Possibly the greatest sequel and action film ever made
Two good game tie-ins are the 45 long slide with the top mounted laser is in Resident Evil 4 as one of the magnums, and the cops badges are the same design as Chris and Jill's character select badges in OG Resident Evil 1
Should play Terminator: Resistance. Such a underrated gem of a game and love letter to the first two movies.
Commando is another Arnold classic you should see. And T1 should not be remade, if anything I’d accept a full young cgi Arnold
I hope Mattie watches the director's cut of T2.
Just not the Extended Special Edition
Glad you are following up with sequel next week. I loved the second one more as a kid but definitely have grown to love the first even more as adult. Funny to see your reactions to old movies and their practical effects. You all need to get John Carpenters The Thing right away so you see master class effects and music from the era.
terminator and T2 have iconic legendary themes and soundtrack.
Man i love these
T1 at 10th place feels so harsh as someone who really appreciates how dark and hopeless it is in comparison to the sequel. It really is more of a horror movie than an action one. But I get it, some aspects of it really havent aged well, and thats why I think Matty will like T2 A LOT more. T2 and Aliens have both aged like fine wine, its mind blowing that they look as good as they do for how old they are. I rewatched them last year and T2 still has better "special fx" than a lot of modern movies, no joke.
Matty's take on special effexts vs practical effects makes me so excited for Child's Play and Halloween! I hope we get to one of those this year
Saving private ryan next, come on Matty.
Matty definitely just played video games his entire life without knowing what a movie is
Good observation.
LOCK - on Matty’s list you should have the IMBD number in brackets
Good idea! We'll do that!
New thumbnail looks great!
That you got out of _Terminator_ without quoting "Come with me if you want to live" in this review means you missed the experience.
4:50
@@LockPlaystrue, but he's talking about Arnold there; he's got no idea the original line is Biehn. Interesting that's he's never seen _Aliens_ either, apparently
@@christineherrmann205 We'll get to Aliens very soon. If it doesn't get picked in one of the polls, we'll do it a few days before Romulus releases.
I'm 36 now and growing up in the Netherlands, i was raised very freely when it comes to watching action, horror etc movies at a very young age. The impac that Arnold Schwarzenegger had on me as a kid, was so high and was almost unreal. He was the perfect action hero and really "The Last Action Hero". Offcourse, i also really loved Jean Claude Van Damme, Stallone, Bruce Lee etc, but Arnold is and will always be my number 1 action hero. You really need to watch True Lies, Total Recall, Last Action Hero, Predator, Commando and Jingle All The Way as a fun Christmas movie!
This guy's face pretending like he's hasn't seen Terminator 2
I hadn’t seen the terminator movies until a few years ago as well so don’t worry Matty we all come around to it eventually😂
Matty...you should release a short like a week after each of these reviews with the key parts of the review. Im always so curious about your take, I just never have 30 minutes to watch. Normally i dont endorse short form content but id love a summary. With your raw reaction, feelings and opinion.
I wish I could watch T1 and T2 for the first time again 😭
Locking in my prediction now that that T2 and Aliens will make Matty's top 3
It’s the greatest love story of our time. He traveled through time for her.
I'm really hoping that sometime he gets to review the Dune movies
Regarding the best sequels of all time, T2 has got to be in the top 3. Along with The Empire Strikes Back.
Im 37 and have decided a few days ago im going to put some time aside to watch the original Star Wars trilogy. I've dodged it my entire life. Lol
Awesome! I still think they’re wonderful.
Matty... dude. T2 is to Terminator what New Vegas is to Fallout 3. Same actors, similar concept, but SO much better. Can't wait to see what your opinion is on it. XD
The same way Matty talks about remaking this, I feel like Disney should redo the effects for the prequel trilogy and the special edition changes
Of Star Wars * to clarify
@@PlatypusKing10 Disney should not touch anything other than their own originally produced material. They are not to be trusted imo
Would love to see you react to ‘The Big Lebowski’ Matty
I’m so highly disappointed in Locke for not asking matty if he recognized the voice of the cop before the cop-shop shootout… admiral Hackett… so disappointed… if no mention is made in aliens I’ll have to quietly mourn
I completely forgot Lance Henriksen was in Mass Effect, but rest assured, it will be mentioned when we do Aliens 😉
@@LockPlays aliens was the first movie I ever saw him in, and he is forever Bishop, not Lance lol. When i first started ME and heard the voice I had to stop and check that it was bishop..
Also have to make sure you point out the psychiatrist in each of the T movies :-)
Matty was allergic to watching movies growing up
When you get to the matrix sequel i feel like it has to be a double feature bundled with matrix 3.
I dont mean talk about both in the same video. But your going to want to watch both pretty close to one and other.
Because while matrix 1 is perfectly standalone. 2 and 3 are very much part of a packaged story. So best to matrix 3 the week after.
I was way too young when i watched Terminator and Alien (6 or 7 yo at most)
Oy, i was raise of the greatness. Last action hero, true lies, eraser. Real classics. Was a hugh arnold fan when i was a kid. Happy my mom didnt hender my veiwing rating😂😂😂
Im shocked where this ended up on your rating board.
Yes kojima has stolen SO much stuff from movies. But he also really does make it his own at the same time
The best games like GTA and cyberpunk are like 90% stolen ideas.
These are nice, but I’m much more interested in the attack on titan continuation.
They should not straight up remake this movie. They are going to ruin the future scenes with CGI. The practical effects are part of the charm.
Surprised to see Terminator lower tha Jurassic Park. Matty should always try to predict story of the sequel.
i still havent watched this one but ive watched t2 😂
It’s really cool you’re getting into a lot of these classics, but I just wouldn’t have the patience to talk about them like this. What I mean is having to deal with groundbreaking special effects being treated like a dated joke. The more you get into film the easier the notion of art being “dated” starts to wash away and you can just approach everything on its own contextual wavelength.
it's easier to contextualize the more you have experienced. I'm sure we'll see that develop in him as he goes along.
Terminator 2 is NOT better. The special effects are better, but the story isn't. Remember from Terminator 1, "You have to go naked. Something about the field generated by a living organism. Nothing dead will go." And then this liquid metal thing comes through? Also naked for some reason? Makes no sense.
Wouldn’t the T1000 get through fine enough since there’s no living organism to mess with the field generation?
@@gregorygeorge8695 The field generated by a living organism is what's required. It's necessary for time travel to work. Without it the liquid metal Terminator shouldn't have been able to travel back in time.
From Terminator I:
"But this terminator, if he's a machine..."
"Surrounded by living tissue! Look, I didn't build the fucking thing! Now I have to talk to Sarah Conner..."
@@Dave0zz thanks for the clarification:
@@Dave0zzmeh t1000 coming back make sense to me since he’s just metal surrounded by artificial skin
@@kennypowers1945 He's not surrounded by any skin. Artificial or otherwise. He's all liquid metal.
Oh common man! Stop stop this. You’re killing me.
