I spent most of my life boating Barnegat Bay NJ and now we are in Mystic CT I was wondering your comparison between the Chesapeake Bay area to Block Island Sound area ?
I read your comment and thought, "I don't remember writing this". I grew up boating in Barnegat Bay and am now in Mystic. We used to cruise Chesapeake a lot also. We love Block too!
Hi Kevin, good to hear from you again. I feel like you are setting me up with that question! Chesapeake and New England are both awesome cruising grounds, and that's why we need to visit both. Lobster vs. crab., bay vs. ocean, rocks vs. sand, dead rise vs. lobster boat. Don't make me choose, Kevin! I will say one thing that influences me is the temperature. In the shoulder seasons, New England is a little cold and in the dead of summer, Chesapeake is really hot. I think Block is a great place to be in August, but Chesapeake is is awfully nice in May! Great question, hope others weigh-in. Slainte!

@@thevesselslainte We cruised the Chesapeake many years but you're right about the summer heat there. We have a Sea Ray 560DB so the climate-controlled bridge is very helpful up in Mystic. Both areas sadly offer many more options than boating in NJ (we still live in NJ). It's a tough choice but for us it's New England now. Maybe we'll see you up there some time!
