its only july 4th? we are done? your killing me like Yellowstone? Love your videos....
Haha, yeah, but unlike Costner we will be back next season!! Thanks for the comment, Ian. Enjoy the Holidays, Slainte!
I really enjoyed your series of videos of your trips on the Chesapeake. Having boated and still boating on the Chesapeake, it has a lot to offer. Thank you for sharing these videos, they are excellent!
@@scotttaylor2411 Thank you, Scott! That means a lot coming from a local! Hope you had a great season.
Thank you for sharing this! Beautiful family. Beautiful boat. Life at its best for sure.
@@garyscole Thanks Gary, trying to make the most of every minute!
Wow Rob you did all that before the 4th of July, that's incredible. Here is a fun fact my boat didn't get into the water until the 3rd of July after an engine replacement. I love your video's and I look forward watching next season. Great job!!!
Thanks Ray. Sorry to hear about your engine replacement, but at least you got her back in the water before the summer was too far gone. Hope you had a great season!

Yeah she was a beauty. I think it was the FD100.
We had lunch at the Chart House in Alexandria Virginia yesterday, and looking at the boats(edit) I wondered if your boat was on the hard yet, happy Thanksgiving
Yeah we pulled her out on 11/2. I like to do the winterizing before it gets too cold. Already started some winter projects, looking forward to spring!
@thevesselslainte thank you for the update.

It is our happy place, and it was an awesome trip this year! Tried hard to make some memories and make the most of every minute. Now I get to watch the videos all winter and dream about next season! Great to hear from you. Hope you had a great summer - Slainte!
I'm so jealous. One day I'll be able to run up and down the Chesapeake like you guys. Can't wait to get your impressions of Baltimore my home town. Great video again guys...
Hey, thanks for the note, Ray! I'm working on editing that episode now. The Chesapeake has so much to offer, and I know we are just scratching the surface. Will be back at some point to continue the journey! Hope you had a good summer, Slainte!
In your tour - we caught a glimpse of our sailboat in the background when she was still there! Hope you enjoyed Southern MD while you were here 😊
Hey, thanks for the comment! I watched your intro video, and your son has a very cool project ahead of him (and a pretty cool Dad for helping him out). Hope that you both get to enjoy the journey together. Yes, we very much enjoyed our trip this year and we will certainly be back! Slainte!
Sea Ray should sponsor your videos, or at least feature you as a "How we envision our boats are used" great editing together of a story, well done
Thanks James, very glad you enjoyed it! I can't even get Google AdSense to cooperate, so I'm not even going to try sponsorships! We will stick to doing this for fun :-)
Great video, I've missed seeing them, looks like one more popped on my feed. The storm was excellent, is it disconcerting at anchor during heavy weather? You and the Admiral looked great, the Field Marshall and I had some difficulty adjusting to the absence of children, but then the grandkids come along....
Hey James, thanks for checking in! We anchor a lot, and have been through many generations of anchors. The one we have now is really great and very reliable, however a 180 degree wind shift is nearly impossible for any anchor to handle. If the wind is steady, I sleep like a baby, but you have to watch out for those shifts. Our kids are creating lives of their own, so we don't see them quite as much as we used to, but we do treasure the time that we are together and try to make the very most of it. Wishing you and your family a warm and joyful winter! Slainte!
Can you tell me who makes those inflatable chairs you have? That would work great on out sea ray as well. Thanks for the videos love seeing the east coast places you visit.
Hi Joe, the company is called Pop Board. Ours are the first-generation of the chairs - I think the newer ones have a few more features. We ordered them at a boat show in March and they were so popular that they didn't come in until August of that year! They are comfortable and versatile, and we really enjoy them. The only downside is that when they are deflated, they fold awkwardly and are a little hard to store. Hope that helps, and hope you had a great summer aboard that Sea Ray! Slainte!
@@thevesselslainte Thanks so much for the information on the chairs! We had a great summer on the Great Lakes can't wait for our boat to come back out in the spring and start all over again.
Amen, brother!
love following along, I spent many summers back in the 70's sailing the bay w my family, the Piney Narrows marina had a salt water pool i remember was so cool and Oxford was our back yard, ( i lived on the Tred Avon River) magical times!! that bar at 22 min used to be called just the Carry Out , it was a screened in porch right by that little boat ramp......thanks for sharing@!!
Thanks very much for the throwback, Rick! I love hearing memories like that - makes it all seem more real. The area is different now, but certainly still beautiful and still creating memories for people! Hope you had a great summer. Slainte!
Great video Rob. I've done all the spots you highlighted in this video except for the Love Point Winery. Does Rock fishing off of Love Point count. lol. Can't wait to see you next one.
It only counts if you caught something! Chesapeake cruising was great, we will be back. Slainte!
Looks like you guys had a great time! It was nice meeting you Capt. Rob and Tia at B2.
Great meeting you as well, and thanks for rushing out onto the dock to lend us a hand tying up - it was a little bumpy that night! Hope you had a great season, Slainte!
I spent most of my life boating Barnegat Bay NJ and now we are in Mystic CT I was wondering your comparison between the Chesapeake Bay area to Block Island Sound area ?
I read your comment and thought, "I don't remember writing this". I grew up boating in Barnegat Bay and am now in Mystic. We used to cruise Chesapeake a lot also. We love Block too!
Hi Kevin, good to hear from you again. I feel like you are setting me up with that question! Chesapeake and New England are both awesome cruising grounds, and that's why we need to visit both. Lobster vs. crab., bay vs. ocean, rocks vs. sand, dead rise vs. lobster boat. Don't make me choose, Kevin! I will say one thing that influences me is the temperature. In the shoulder seasons, New England is a little cold and in the dead of summer, Chesapeake is really hot. I think Block is a great place to be in August, but Chesapeake is is awfully nice in May! Great question, hope others weigh-in. Slainte!
Hi Dave, and thanks for your comment. I am a big fan of Mystic and looking forward to going back next year. Please see my answer to Kevin's comment and let us know what you think! Slainte!
@@thevesselslainte We cruised the Chesapeake many years but you're right about the summer heat there. We have a Sea Ray 560DB so the climate-controlled bridge is very helpful up in Mystic. Both areas sadly offer many more options than boating in NJ (we still live in NJ). It's a tough choice but for us it's New England now. Maybe we'll see you up there some time!
@ Great response, thanks for taking the time. We love your channel. It gets us through the winter months. Keep up the hard work
Fun, my neck of the woods.... Hearing the Regee... You might enjoy that the Wailers Bass player 'Family Man'... lived many hears a block up the road from the Centerville town dock.
Thanks, brother, we will definitely check it out! Slainte!
Wow Rob I've been boating in the Chesapeake Bay almost my entire life. You guys have seen way more then I have over the years. I need to expand my horizons I guess. Great video.
Haha, thanks Ray. Love the food, the little towns and the gunk holes, but can you do something about those jelly fish?? Really had a great time, looking forward to going back. Slainte!
Looks like a beautiful place and great times. Your productions, complete with drone footage, are exceptionally great. Slainte
It was indeed a pretty cool adventure this year. Great to hear from you, hope you had a good summer. Slainte!
Can you give us details about your crane dinghy davit? We love how sleek it is and we also have the 48 SeaRay Sundancer - we have the manual hurley davit that we hate and most of them are so bulky in the swim platform. Thanks! (We are also on the Chesapeake Bay, in Annapolis ❤
Hi Michele, thanks for the comment - you are the first one to ever ask about the crane :-). We also had the Hurley davit, but on our previous boat (420 Sea Ray). There were things I liked about it, but my biggest problem was that the dinghy was too heavy to haul out myself. When we were shopping for the 48, many of the ones we looked at had the hydraulic swim platform. That option was great if you were away from the dock, but it traps the boat on the platform if you are in a slip. Oh, and it's expensive. Our boat was the only one we have ever seen with a crane option. I wasn't sure what to think at first, but when I found that I could pluck the dinghy off of the platform and drop it on our dolly at the dock, I became very interested. Our crane was made by Quicklift, but sadly they are no longer in business. It is pretty simple and basic, with two hydraulic pistons (up/down, in/out), and a manually operated swing. Ours has no winch, which would be nice, but not critical. A quick google search shows that there are other vendors out there, including UMT marine in FL. If you have a fixed swim platform, then this is definitely the way to go. Your back will thank you! Thanks for watching, and enjoy that beautiful boat. Slainte!
@@thevesselslainte can’t tha k you enough! Was hustling talking to the Sea Lift and Freedom Lift guys at the Annapolis Boat Show and that is quite an endeavor to put those on and then yes, you are trapped. Which is why I’m bowing at the slip right now in Eastport so I can get my dinghy out. Many thanks!
great I am the first comment and giving like thanks
Dewalt sells a battery powered compressor. I bought it for my boat this year and it works great for the water toys. Small and fast.
Eric, you are not the first one to suggest a compressor for the water toys. I have been stubbornly holding out, but each year I get a little more tired of pumping the hand pump. I think I might be finally headed in that direction. Hope you had a great summer!
See you have a West Marine Dinghy- could you share the model and engine horsepower. I have read different reviews of these and your seems to be holding up well!
Hey, thanks for the comment. We have the WM RIB-310 single-floor PVC model, and it is rated for a 15 HP. We originally used it with an old 8 HP 2-stroke that I had, and (with a little effort) it would plane with 2 adults. We stepped up to the Suzuki 15 HP 4-stroke last year. This one starts on the first pull every time and has EFI, which is pretty impressive for an engine that does not use a battery. I had hoped the 15 would push 4 adults up onto a plane, but it really can't. I may play with the prop pitch to see if I can make it work, but it really rips with 2 or 3 people. Overall, I am happy with it. I think we bought it in late 2018 and it is still in good shape (I do keep a cover on it). I have had WM & Zodiac PVC dinghies before, and I can typically get about 10 years out of them. WM is more basic, while Zodiac had more features, but the material wears out eventually no matter the brand. You might be able to go longer with Hypalon, but I find that after 10 years, I am itching for a new dinghy anyway! Hope that helps.
Great video , we live in Chestertown and video got it right !
Thanks Bruce! The town was a lot more historic than I had anticipated - lots of colonial era buildings. Plenty of great stops and shops. That was the first time we had ever tripped across a bocce tournament! Lots of competition and way more spectators than I had anticipated. Fun time all around.
Great drone footage Captain Rob. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks James! Had some fun with the drone on the Chester River, especially. Hope you had a great summer!
Always a great time at St. Michael s
Yes, it's one of our favorite stops. We were able to drop by there a few times on this trip and enjoyed it every time!
Hello could you please increase the quality on your videos they are really good but 360p it’s too low to appreciate
You are right about the SD resolution on this one. Not sure what we did wrong, but trying to figure out if/how we can fix it now that it is posted.
Carlos, I could not fix the old one but I posted a new version in HD :-) th-cam.com/video/y-KwYAlrxVc/w-d-xo.html

It was great meeting all of you in Annapolis. It was so nice of all you to take the time and chat with us. I am glad i didn't listen to my wife and not bother you guy by saying hello. I did get made fun of by my daughters when I got home and they found out I was like a star struck teenager going to say hello. Now being in the video really ups the ante. Again, great meeting you and safe travels. Hopefully we will bump into you again on our travels around the Chesapeake!
Thanks Kevin, it was fun to meet you and your crew as well. Honestly, we film these trips basically as home movies for ourselves and we are really flattered that other people enjoy them. The ironic part is that my son is on TikTok (@rjmclok) and has 1.2M followers, and I'm the one that got recognized that day! Hope you guys are having a great summer. Slainte!
Who would have thought you'd have to remove the companion way stairs, WHEW happy you figured that one out. I might have had to go to HomeDepot for a CHAIN SAW 🤣
Yeah Ron, my patience was still in tact at the time, but in a few more hours, I would have had to resort to more drastic measures!
Captain you have been blessed and I know you worked hard for such wonderful fruits of your endeavors. You are living my dreams which has past by and I am so happy for you living it. Peace, love and bless you and your family. I AM INSPIRED!!!
@@richardbender7384 Thanks for the kind words, Richard. I am indeed blessed, and trying to make the most of every minute. Hoping you are able to find a little adventure in your future! Slainte!
Great job on the Washer/Dryer! Ours does not work, and my wife wants it gone! She sees that space as another hanging locker. So, I have a few questions on the removal: 1. In hindsight, was it necessary to remove "the laundry room door"? If so, how did that come out? 2. In removing the main stairs, were all the screws accessible from the salon side? Any notes, tips, or hints you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Jaybeaux, The cabinet that hides the washing machine must come off because the screws that hold the stair box in place are covered by the cabinet frame. Actually, they are ALSO covered by the vinyl cover on the aft stateroom wall. You have to peel back the edges of the vinyl to find them. Here are the high-level steps for you to get it out of there: 1. Open the laundry room cabinet and remove the access panel above the shelf. 2. Reach through and remove the 2 screws holding the washing machine lid onto the machine. You will need a stubby screw driver, and find the screws with your fingers. They are in the back 2 corners, pointing at the door, so you need to remove them blindly. 3. With those 2 screws removed, you can slide the lid backwards to release it from the front lip, and then you can pop it up a bit and slide it out the front. If you don't remove the machine lid, you will not get the cabinet out. The little shelf in the cabinet will hit the top of the machine. Your other option here is to sawzall out the shelf. 4. With the machine lid removed, now remove the screws holding the cabinet into the side walls. I think there are 3 or 4 on each side, very obvious. 5. Now you can slide the bottom of the cabinet out. Keep pulling/tilting until the top of the cabinet is freed from it's slot, and then set it aside. This part is tough, even if you do it right. 6. Start peeling the edges of the vinyl and look for the screws holding the box to the wall. There were a bunch - maybe 12? 7. Now move to the salon side. My boat had another screw through the right-hand TV cabinet into the side of the stair box. Remove that if you have it. 8. Remove the 2 courtesy lights in the stair cabinet (I think I had to cut the wire on the top one to get the box out). Then remove the carpeted panel above the top step. Mine had a screw hidden behind the carpet at the bottom of the panel, but it had been off of there before, so you may need to do some hunting for the fasteners on yours. 9. Remove the hand railing 10. Remove the frame that holds the lower steps. There are 4 screws on the floor and 4 that go through the front of the stair cabinet, so you will need help getting those 4 off. 11. You should be able to move the box at this point, which will expose the washer. Move slow in case you missed something. 12. Find a young/strong back to help lift it out of the cabin! Hope that helps! Feel free to post this in the 48 DA owners blog if you think it might help someone else. If you make a closet out of that space, I would love to see pictures. Good luck with your project!
@@thevesselslainte You are a rock star, Captain! Thank you so much.

I’m amazed you got drone shots with the Blue Angels flying so low. Or am I wrong ?
@@thetattooedladyfan I am too, Jim! I thought for sure there would be a restriction in that zone for the day. Since there was not, I put the drone up to get some shots of us, but I stayed very low, certainly below any sailboat masts in the area. Great show, though!
Congratulations on another, very nautically, themed and well shot video.
@@nomehdrider Thanks James! More are on the way.
VERY cool during the airshow but I'm not sure just how comfortable I'd feel during the sail boat race...it kind of looked like organized chaos!!!
@@BellavistaPEI Thanks for the note, Tom. The Admiral was less than comfortable herself with those sailboats racing through the mooring field! I think the video camera helped provide a buffer zone :-). Those guys were into it, though. I used to race sailboats and I have made really close passes for really small gains, but it’s a much different feeling being the obstacle instead of the racer!

Thanks Ray. Congratulations to her and all of the new graduates! It was a really impressive week of events, and well deserved for those who are being deployed in harm’s way to take care of us. More episodes from this trip are in the editing room - stay tuned!
I’m Always looking in the Barnegat bay for your boat when I see your style SR. Hope to run into you guys and say hi. Enjoy your channel 👍
Great job getting your boat ready, good to see the entire family involved.
