@@Jim-s7l1s True, but that's not the point. I was referring to analog feel these generation of cars gives us (M5 included!). Also as you know M5 and 540i are very closely related, S62 based off the M62, and BMW didn't make a separate gearbox for their v8s (same Getrag 6 420g in the 540i, M5 and M3)... I honestly believe the 540i is more practical because it has enough grunt and is less scream than its 100hp more sibling. That being said if you want the s62 power and have a 540i with the 6 speed, the driveshaft's, gearbox are all the same (differences being the thickness of the roll bars, some more reinforcement points, 3.15 lsd rear diff vs. the 2.88 open). Minute differences... If I had another crack at owning an e39 it would probably be either the 528i or 530i. The steering rack on these vs. the steering box on the 540i and M5 makes a noticeable difference.
@dennynisevic7848 nice man ! They shoot some videos let's check it out ! That's pretty low mileage for the year , nine has 128k i think I bought it when it had maybe 125k something like that.
COOL !!!!! I own a 1998 Black on Black with silver chrome XJR 4.0 L V8. Eaton M112 (1.8 L) supercharged. Special extra fully Loaded 90,000 USD when first purchased!
Absolutely a beautiful car and sound too. There is guy in Germany that took a silver XJ8 R out on the Autobahn at 150+ MPH, its a great video too. My own 2001 3.2L XJ8 is awaiting some tiemly repairs and a service. I bought it cheap last year after the owner abandoned it at a riding stables and eventually asked someone to sell it on eBay. I have had 11 Jaguar's so yes, I am biased because I love them all apart from the very last XJ which was hideous in every way, to say I was disappointed when it was first revealed is a vast understatement.
I understand this owner completely. It's the same feeling I get when I'm in my e39 540i/6. This era of cars was indeed special.
@alexmair3613 💯 it's like a time machine back to a time before big screens in cars aka a simpler time.
Some difference in xjr and 540i… this is up around m5 power

@@alexmair3613 yea i realised what you meant but after I wrote the reply 🙈
@@Jim-s7l1s all good brosef. Yeah I know I have the poor mans non - M, but honestly paying the premium for an e39 M5 is ridiculous in my books!
Just got the same car, 98xjr , 60k miles, in British green.

@JonDingle you lucky to get to experience all the jaguars ! All of them a little different and that's part of the fun.
for the starter issue, try changing the starter relay which is located in the box, under the toolkit
@AndyK.1 thanks man , def need to take look at it , does it randomly

Real peach of a car… make sure timing guides have been done or budget for them
@@Jim-s7l1s plan is when she pops , we going ls and hopefully some snails to come along with it
@@Drivesubstance Jesus I wish you never said that. Why anyone would put an ls motor in an xjr is just beyond me. Each to their own I guess
